I am giving Best Women's Erotica of the Year a solid 3 stars. Note: I follow the Goodreads rating scale. So, three stars interpreted is, "I liked it."

This is the type of book I pick up when I feel like something a little bit spicier in my reading repertoire. However, for me, this is not a book I can sit and read steadily (for hours on end) or from cover to cover in one sitting.

Whenever I try to read erotica, it typically is not long before all that I can envision is the principal in the 10 Things I Hate About You movie who is ceaselessly attempting to write a hokey romance novel using terms such as "bratwurst" and "quivering member." I am pleased to convey that this book did not remind me of these scenes.

The beauty of this book is that there is "something for everyone." There may be a story that makes one reader uncomfortable while another takes that plunge and never wants to come up for air. Also appreciated is that this book is a compilation of stories so a reader can pick and choose which story / stories best suits their needs. I would certainly recommend this to anyone who is looking for tolerable and decent erotica.

This was a very eclectic collection. There was something for every taste and to satisfy every fantasy. Not every story will be to everyone’s liking but I think everyone can find a story they connect with.

A great mix of stories, each one different in its own but very well done. It's indeed very sexy and arousing, all the stories are well written and with characters that come from different background but are bound through a single threat that its sex or love in some cases. Looking forward to more stories.

Out of the lot, I only found one story that I really enjoyed and felt actually had any kind of substance. The rest was really poorly written. I get that I probably wasn't going to find any good romance in here, but I did think I'd be getting more interesting stories than I did. A lot of it was mostly awkward in my opinion. Not something I would ever recommend to anyone.

As with any short story collection some were good and some were not.

I have never read one of these compilations before, but this was fun. The stories are extremely short - between 5 and 15 minute reads -- which made this book fly by. There is something in here for everyone; group sex, futuristic, fantastical, overall lots of fantasies are seen to. Some of the stories are extremely outlandish and some are more realistic. The collection contains so many different types of stories that I think any erotica reader will find something they like.

An eclectic blend or realistic and "out there" erotica. Honestly, just too bizarre to be erotic in most cases.

I love short stories because they often drop you right into the middle of the action, without any build up or pretense. And the majority of the stories in this collection did just that: things started off running, rapidly built to a climax, and then left things a little messy at the end. Some took a couple beats to figure out; others were more straightforward.

Overall I thought the collection offered a good variety of quality writing. I was definitely glad I read it, and look forward to seeing more in the series.

This book brought the steam and a variety of stories! If this genre is up your alley you will love this collection of short stories! I love the short stories all by different authors.

5/5 - this is an excellent group of erotica stories.

Each story offers something different. From politicians, art lovers, porn stars addiction, and even a mermaid, they all stimulate the senses.

These two stories had something extra that made me want to read even more about the characters.

Very inclusive and progressive, while still titillating. Explored all parts of a woman sexuality without anything that feels expliotative was or anti-woman at its heart. Keep them coming!

Wow. Well this book delivers on the erotic promise, that’s for sure. A diverse collection of erotic short stories... I’d guess there’s at least one for everyone.

A collection of a variety of sexy short stories, some better than others depending on your point of view.

Written by women for women which is a nice change actually

This volume of erotica contained short stories with fantasy, bdsm, mermaids, underage girl fantasies, sex workers and many more. There are a variety of stories the common theme seemed to be control or relinquishing control in one way or another. Some stories will challenge your ideas of sex and passion, while others may see you simply skipping through the pages for the naughty bits. Trigger warning, there is one story that delves into sex with an underaged person, albeit fantasy.

I just read Three Women from Tadeo about women´s desire and was really curious about what the "best women´s erotica of the year" looked like.

In this book, 5 female authors were challenged to write erotica, without any restrains. And the variety is an interesting point.

It was fun to read different genres like sci-fi and fantasy, a first for me in romance/erotic. Also, different sexual preferences, however not so many as I would wish, since a lot of authors went for BDSM. BDSM seems to have become the "let´s spice things up", but in a lazy way.

I found the most interesting "out of the box" to be the stories with sex workers, swingers, threesome, and some characters from diverse groups.

To be honest, to me, the all dominant-alpha-male-rich-model-looking kind of story seems old. And there were quite a few of those.

Still, for me it was a novelty and a fast read that I enjoyed.

I like reading erotic stories, but this collection of very short stories really wasn’t all that great, entertaining, or erotic. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.

As usual there are some stories which are better, some are forgettable, some other I will remember. Unluckily I do not think that short stories are the perfect fit for erotica, but this is just my problem, maybe due to the fact that I do not know enough about the characters involved.

Come al solito ci sono alcune storie che sono carine, altre dimenticabili, altre ancora me le ricorderò per un pezzo e per varie ragioni. Sfortunatamente peró, le storie brevi non vanno secondo me troppo d'accordo con la narrativa erotica, ma questo nel mio caso potrebbe dipendere dal fatto di non avere abbastanza background sui personaggi coinvolti.

This is exactly what it sounds like: a collection of short erotica, written by a variety of female authors and for a female audience. The quality of the story varies, but there's something for nearly every reader. Some are wildly fanciful, some realistic, but many are very entertaining.
