When shy bookworm Amy whats to step outside of her comfort zone in order to win a contest to meet her favorite author, she enlists the help of confident surfer boy, Toff (who just so happens to be her lifelong crush, it's fine). As Amy gains traction in her online contest, she also has to confront the unavoidable tension between her and her "coach". Life doesn't always hand you your Darcy. But sometimes it does.
What a cute read! I haven't read Roberts other novels, but this story was really easy to read and fun. I really enjoyed the characters and the alternating perspectives of Amy and Toff. I was able to read this one basically in one go, and it hit all of the contemporary romance checklist items that I needed. There's humor, book references galore, great family dynamics, and of course plenty of romantic moments. This plot was done very well. I will be recommending it book lovers, bookstragram addicts, and those looking for a breezy romance with heart.

Bookworm Amy has had a crush on surf god Toff for as long as she can remember. He has the swagger she needs to win a competition to meet her favourite author. So she asks him to coach her. I love a good YA fiction and this one has me at the first page. But I recommend reading he first book first it really helps with the story

My biggest complaint about this, though I have a few, is that the reading level is considerably lower than the subject/content level. The girl's lack of self respect was even more grating than the boy's lack of self awareness, and every other character was underdeveloped and trope-y.

This book was really cute and an easy read. I was looking for a book that wasn't as heavy as what i usually read and this one fit the bill. I thought it was a very easy plot to follow and the whole book was really cute.

I enjoyed Toff helping Amy become more assertive. Their entries into the contest were fun to read about. The opposites attract came through well in the story. Book was a bit long and started to drag in points. Could have been shorter and still been a great read.

I was pleasantly surprised by this one! Such a cute story. I really like Amy as will any book lover, especially younger girls who can relate to her bookish ways. The whole crush thing wasn’t nauseating at all (hahaha) like some YA romances. This is a smart girl with a loving family and good friends but not a goody goody. Well done!

Bookworm Amy has had a crush on surf god Toff for as long as she can remember. He has the swagger she needs to win a competition to meet her favourite author. So she asks him to coach her. After spending time together can Amy finally admit her feelings or is Toff playing it up for the socials?
I love a good YA fiction and this one has me at the first page by mentioning Professor McGonagall. I think I did this backwards though. So I now am ready to read The Replacement Crush.

This book was not surprising, but it was adorable.
I loved the story of bookworm Amy and her surfer crush Toff coming together to win a book-based social media contest. I adored the story arc of Amy finally finding her voice and talents and loved the way Toff learned to compromise.
Young adult readers will swoon over the cute story and love the fact social media plays a large part of the couple's success. I thought the book was well written and really, really uplifting and cute.
I would be happy to read another book by this author.
Thanks to NetGalley.com, the author and publisher for my ARC.

The Bookworm Crush is a very cute follow up to the previous novel. It's sweet and funny. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the E-Arc copy of this novel. I enjoyed The Bookworm Crush, it is a funny and cute romance that many readers will like. The book is a quick read.

when i received an email from entangled teen telling me that the replacement crush was getting a spin-off novel, i was so excited. but then i realized that i remember absolutely nothing about the book except for how cute it was, and i was worried that it would ruin my reading experience for the bookworm crush. fortunately, other than the setting and the characters, the bookworm crush has a plot fully independent of that of the previous novel, and the author threw in explanations whenever necessary.
people who love us always find a way to show it while they’re here, somehow. i think they still find a way, even when they’ve moved on to the stars.
amy, the protagonist, is a huge bookworm, and i could really relate to her (the bookworm part, not the being sweet part. i’m more salt than sugar, thank you very much.) i love books about bibliophiles, especially those who share about their reading experiences online, and it’s so amazing seeing amy become more confident through sharing her love of books on social media. she’s also super sweet and treats her friends and family with so much kindness and love, my heart practically melted. and also, i screamed every time she makes a bookish / film reference. red, white and royal blue was even mentioned – the author has sure done a lot of research on the latest ya novels:
amy grabbed one of her latest favorites, a gay romance about the prince of England falling in love with the son of the united states president.
the romance was also extremely cute. i loooove the opposites attract and fake relationship tropes and they are done so well in the bookworm crush. toff is a popular and confident surfer who spends about 95% of his time at the beach and never reads, while amy is a huge bookworm with a great love for romance novels, but is really shy and always lets her friend, vivian, do all the talking on their blog and booktube channel. amy and toff complement each other so well – toff slowly coaxes amy out of her shell and teaches her to believe in herself and speak out, while amy introduces toff to the wonderful world of reading. i was rooting for the two of them from the very beginning. ♡
i loved the whole plot and romance and setting, but sadly something really bugged me out and it was that none of the characters actually acted like teenagers. they sometimes say and do the most stupid things, and sometimes i forget they’re eighteen-year-olds because they act like they’re twelve. that put me off and really affected my enjoyment of the novel, so i can only give this book a 3.5 star rating in the end. :(
the bookworm crush was overall a very fun read (except for the teenagers not really acting like teenagers part), and i hope i’ll get to read more of lisa brown roberts’s work soon! the book will be released on the october 1st, 2019, and i can’t wait for the rest of the world to give it a try.

A sweet romance when the cool surfer notices the nerdy bookworm.
A bit predictable but fun none the less.

I'm so excited about this book!! I read the first in the series and I was excited to get Toff and Amy's story. The first thing I enjoyed about this book were all the book/movie references. I knew every one and they drew me into the thoughts of Amy. The friendship between Toff and Amy was charming. They were complete opposites and yet by the end, they realize how much they have in common. I love books about books and people who love to read books. This was a 5-star for me!! Thanks NetFalley for the advanced copy!!

I would rate this book a 3.5, but whole numbers only, so I'll round up. The Bookworm Crush is a cute, fluffy book about a reader who seems stuck playing a secondary character in her own life getting to become her own Lizzie Bennet. The major characters are sweet, well enough suited, and have chemistry. The premise of the book is that Toff pushes Amy outside of her comfort zone to be her best self and grow, which is what everyone wants out of a healthy relationship. It makes it very fulfilling to read. Toff's grand gesture in the end is unlike the kind we're used to expecting, but is appropriate to the Mr. Darcy type of hero Amy hopes for without trying to change who Toff is.
I did not appreciate Brayden. He's supposed to be the plot moppet, but he's seriously rude and disrespectful to Amy and their mother in a way that's sexist, not comical, when he turns around and does whatever Toff commands without question. Yes, I understand that Brayden idolizes Toff, but the way he treats his sister is not cool.
I also felt like the book tried too hard to establish Amy's cred as a bookworm. It didn't reference titles and terms, it over explained them, sometimes missing the mark (calling Dumbledore's deluminator McGonagall's wand stood out to me at the very beginning). While some of the terms needed explaining for Toff's edification, Amy's inner monologues didn't. Either the reader got it, or would look it up because that's what the audience that this title is aimed for does. This is in contrast with the surfing lingo just getting to be there as if the reader knew what they meant.
All in all, a fun beach read of a book.

This lighthearted read was one that was adorable. I loved the cover and the opening really got the story going. I loved the easy to follow writing style the author used as I was looking for something to read on the lighter side. The pacing worked out well for this story and the characters were a hit. I loved quirky and cheesy romance with Amy and Toff. Although this was predictable I think that for this story it was fine. If you are looking for something cute and cuddly to fill your weekend this is one to check out!

This was a super adorable fun book-nerd rom'com read. Full of swoonworthy moments and a lol of pop culture references, I thought it was an adorable book with heart and depth. I enjoyed the characters and the relationship building. I also loved all the quirky fun references as well as the shipping!!! Definitely something some of my older students would enjoy reading! Thanks netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

A fun light read that any bookworm can appreciate! The main character Amy loves romance novels especially and is trying to win an instagram challenge but she'll need to come out of her shell to do so! Cue in Toff, they've been friends for life and Amy has a crush on him, but he's completely her opposite. It's a lot of fun to see these characters spend more time together and both grow for the better while spending more time together. Lots of great pop culture references and really funny moments, I'd recommend!

Amy and Toff have known each other since primary school but only now that they are 18 and Amy is preparing to take part in a book competition their paths cross. She's a shy introvert passionate about book, he is a surf God, such an unlikely couple. The more time they spend together helping each other out they more they fall in love. There's only one problem - Toff doesn't to relationships. Will Amy have her own Darcy or will she have to deal with a broken heart? It's for you to find out.
At the beginning of the book I had the feeling that it's going to be this sort of a chick lit book where everything is the same and easily predictable, but I was positively suprised to be gripped in it completely especially from the middle til the end. Definitely swoonworthy.
