Why, oh why do I keep doing this to myself?? I was in what felt like the minority by not enjoying the RIDICULOUS twist in Behind Her Eyes. For some reason I keep picking up the author's books anyway! I suppose that means she is doing something right, even if it is just the blurbs vs the actual book. This is my third and theoretical final book by this author. We just don't mesh well. It's possible that I could potentially pick up another if I really needed some brain mush/ filler reading.

Sarah Pinborough is back with another unique domestic thriller! The first half was a bit of a slow start, but it really picked up in the second half. This was a unique thriller (hard to do lately) as it added a light element of magic that balances the line between realistic and believable. I really enjoyed this!!

You know the old saying, “What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive", that fits this book perfectly. Jason Maddox and his wife Marcie both have their own secrets. Keisha Radford is the great William Rasford’s sexy new wife. She enters the group of friends with a whirlwind, she too has a few secrets of her own. It seems almost everyone has something they’re hiding.
I really liked this book, all the characters meshed together very well but there wasn’t any edge of the seat, heart thumping moments until almost the end of the book. That being said, the build up was very methodical and kept me reading until the wee hours of the morning. Thank you Netgalley for an advanced copy, 3.5 stars.

Old money marries some thirsty women, but just how far will these women go? Marcie has already managed to steal Jason away from his first wife before she married him for his riches. Keisha, the newest wife belonging to the old boys’ club, has no issue with her new geriatric husband dying off as a result of too much sex. But when Marcie and Keisha start spending more time together, they’re finding an attraction they weren’t expecting. Throw in a poisoning and some serious back-stabbing, along with some crazy voodoo that keeps popping up, and no one is feeling very secure in their future. I found Behind Her Eyes by Pinborough to be an excellent book with an ending I never saw coming, so maybe I had extra high hopes for this book. It wasn’t bad, by any means, but there did seem to be a lot of extras thrown into this book that either weren’t needed or didn’t fully add up.

If you're looking for a book that leaves you mind-blown and in shock, then this is the book for you.

"Dead To Her" has high amounts of drama, secrets, bad juju, voodoo, scandal, and much more.

Meet Keisha, William Radford IV's new second wife, that he's just brought back from London. Nobody can take their eyes off of her especially Jason Maddox, Marcie's husband.

Meet Marcie, the second wife of Jason Maddox. She's somewhat new to the club of the Savannah elite.

Old money, older ties, and even older secrets are in this club of elite.

Marcie thinks Keisha is her biggest threat but there's an even bigger threat she needs to worry about, especially with her big secret she has hidden in the ceiling of her dressing room

I will admit the beginning of this book did start out slow for me, but it picked up about a fourth of the way in and never slowed down from there. I loved how I was never able to guess who was the mastermind behind everything, the one that was pulling all the puppet strings. And the ending, oh my god, you will NEVER see it coming. Do you remember how creative and compelling "Behind Her Eyes" ended? Well, "Dead To Her" is even more shocking and will leave you blindsided. Get ready to read til 4 in the morning because this book is that good.

If you love Sarah Pinborough's other novels and love books that leave you speechless, then you will love "Dead To Her".
"Dead To Her" comes out February 11th,2020.

Hard to know what to say about this book, i kept reading it and wondering what was the point of it, many unlikeable characters and an only somewhat interesting twist and it took too long to get there. didn't like the vodoo part of it at all

Previously, I’ve read Pinborough’s BEHIND HER EYES (loved it)and I have several of her earlier horror fiction titles to read as well. I truly enjoyed my time with this book. The author proves that complex characters, multi-threaded story lines, and the ability to tell a damn good story are all sharply honed skills; she wields them well.
Marcie and Keisha are by far my favorite characters here. Straight on, they are developed and interesting, but that’s just the surface. There is a host of people I loved to dislike in this book and there’s quite an array of diversity.
Sex, intrigue, and hidden pasts make this book come alive. There are quite a lot of threads to keep straight; I think they’re pulled together nicely at the end. Pinborough remains a favorite author. Read this book, be prepared to clutch your pearls, and grab a stiff drink. This is a fun one.

I read this book because I remember being fascinated by the big twist in Sarah Pinborough's previous novel, BEHIND HER EYES, and I wanted to see if she could shock me again. The answer to that is, yes, sort of. While some readers felt like the twist in BEHIND HER EYES came out of left field, I thought it was brilliant. Well, now that I know what to expect from this author, I'm a little harder to shock. While I wasn't totally surprised by all the twists and turns in the plot (and there are LOT of them), I still enjoyed watching the story unfold.

The characters in this book are not nice people. In fact, they're all pretty rotten, including the protagonist Marcie, the second wife of a wealthy man who's #1 fear is losing her husband and status. She feels threatened by new wife of her husband's boss. Keisha is a beautiful black Englishwoman that everyone is talking about, and Marcie worries that her husband will soon fall prey to Keisha's charms.. But then something happens (and I won't say what), but it turns the story on its head. And then another something happens. And then another something. Pinborough excels at keeping the plot interesting.

While it was hard to invest in the characters, who sometimes border upon being parodies, I did enjoy the book. I was anxious to see how everything played out, and I never got bored.

This author has be shook with every book she writes. I never see the crazy twist coming. And this was so full of drama I didn’t know what the heck was going on! And I loved it!

This book is set around the Savannah elite, and Marcie and Keisha, 2 women who come from nothing marry rich men within this circle. Add in some black magic and you know there will be elements of sorcery and witchery. I'm not particularly interested in voodoo so mentions of that lost my interest. However, if you were turned off by the ending of her first book, rest assured that this one isn't quite as unrealistic. However, there was so much craziness with the characters and the plot, I had to keep reading till the final reveal.

I enjoyed reading this mystery, but I don't think it's one that will stay with me. One of those situations where I hate all of the characters. If you can't get into a story where there's no one to root for, this is not the book for you. For me, that's not usually a problem, but I didn't find enough depth in these unlikely characters to really care about them.

But I think Pinborough created a pretty awesome sense of place. The story takes place in Savannah, GA, among a group of uber-wealthy socialites. I don't know much about this community in real life, but found the depiction entirely believable.

Most of Pinborough's novels (as far as I can tell) are 95% mystery and 5% supernatural, and this was no exception.

It was a fun read.

Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins publishing for an ARC of this book!

3.75 stars (rounded up to 4)

This was, from the start, a page-turner. It follows Marcie, a woman in her late-twenties, who came from nothing and now is living the life of the extremely rich, thanks to her marriage to Jason, a wealthy lawyer who left his first wife to be with her. But, in the south, old money, privilege, and faith are of utmost importance, and Marcie exudes none of these traits as "the other woman".

However, when Jason's old boss, William, arrives home from Europe with a new, stunning 21-year old black wife, named Keisha, Marcie hopes that all the negative attention on her will let up and move onto Keisha. She's not so lucky. Despite her naivety and wild streak, Keisha is warmed up to quickly...most noticeably by Marcie's husband, Jason. To what lengths will Marcie go to in order to save her marriage and lifestyle?

In this suspenseful novel, Pinborough weaves infidelity, dark secrets, and murder together to create a fast-paced book that'll have you guessing until the very end. Highly recommend.

I was excited to read another Sarah Pinborough story as I am a huge fan. I was not at all disappointed. This book had horrible , atrocious characters that made this story so interesting . The more you read the least you liked each of them and the more suspicious you became of them all. It's a very twisted dark who done it and you will be kept guessing until the end. It's a very good read, I highly recommend it. Enjoy!

I was able to read this book thanks to NetGalley. Wow! This book was so suspenseful and I literally had no idea what was truly going on I’m this book until the end. It was not at all
predictable and I flew through it!
Keisha is quickly married to an older widow from Savannah who is visiting London and is brought home and presented to society. She is very young and has a questionable, mysterious past. Marcie, another young second wife, becomes obsessed with Keisha as do most of their friends. What is Keisha hiding and what about Marcie?
I was guessing until the very end.
I will definitely be recommending it to my family and friends. Thanks again to NetGalley.

A young, second wife, Keisha married to a rich old man, William enters the southern richie-rich society all the way from London with a completely different background from the rest and tries to fit in into settings with so many buried secrets. She befriends neighbours/business associates Jason and his wife Marcie and things get messier. William ends up almost dead and the three key suspects are Keisha, Jason and Marcie. This one has so much going on, so many secrets, so many lies and even voodoo stuff is involved.

Pretty much all the characters are not likable as they are buried in lies, betrayals and secrets. And these secrets are nowhere near little white lies! The plot is convoluted for sure but that keeps the craziness going on till the end. As soon as I understood there is some black magic theme coming up, I thought it would just throw some unbelievable revelations, but it is kept to a bare minimum and the plot reveals itself in a different way. It also seemed initially to be about old rich elite country-club folks of Savannah but there is definitely more to that. The part I definitely hated was the bedroom stuff between Keisha and her old husband and it was gross. I wished that it was kept to a minimum and details were not required as the rest of the content already will make the readers hate William anyway.

This has a plot so well written and so confusing that it is definitely recommended for all thriller fans.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy to review!

I've read one other book by Pinborough and I enjoyed this one just as much as the first. The alternating povs kept me interested and the twist at the end was great. I thought I had everything figured out early on, but I was wrong!

This novel is a feat in the fact that it dipped its toes into different genres without feeling making my head spin. Dead To Her has a bit of everything - interpersonal drama a la domestic thriller, hot and heavy romance, psychological suspense, and a touch of horror. The setting almost seems to be a character in itself and the world building is beautifully executed. I couldn't put this book down and have recommended it to anyone who will listen. Pinborough is a force to be reckoned with and will have you devouring her books - if they don't devour you first!

I would recommend going in blind for this book!

Well, well, well, I didn’t predict that ending! I am really becoming a fan of Sarah Pinborough’s writing. I love her unique writing style and story telling. Dead to Her did not disappoint! There was murder, sex and voodoo, what more could you ask for in a psychological thriller? The characters were easy to dislike, which is a good thing in a book like this. At least for me! And I also really enjoyed the placement of the storyline, the south is always an intriguing read for me.

I would definitely recommend this book and can not wait for Sarah’s next one!

This book had a lot more to it that I thought going in. It is a slow build but when it hits it hits hard. While I guesses some of the plot twists, the author did a good job if spinning the tale and I really enjoyed this title.

Blurped as a twisty psychological thriller about a savvy second wife who has worked hard to cement her spot in southern society after her affair with her now husband. Enter in a younger second wife to her husband's boss who enters her life creating much havoc and threatens her current social spot.

I decided to give Pinborough another try as everyone seems to rave about her twisty books. I was not a fan of behind her eyes as I felt it jumped the shark at the end and luckily this one did not follow that pattern. I enjoyed this one more and will say the beginning was a bit rough for me with some incredibly unlikable characters but the second half picked up and threw some decent twists at you.

All in all I'd say this is a decent quick, keep your expectations in check, thriller that would be a good fun vacation/beach read.
