i think this was for false gods by don newton, it was an ok book. I don't remember too much from it but it was an ok read.

It was a struggle to try and finish this one even though I wanted to. I ended up DNFing this one about halfway through. There wasn't much connection to the story which didn't allow me to want to continue on.

I want to preface that I was initially really excited about this book- I liked the concept of the summary and book cover and I generally, for the most part, loves this type of genre. However, I struggled in reading this book. The author did a great job of being very descriptive. As a reader though, I lacked an connection to the characters. I failed in discerning what the character's motives or desires were. Essentially I felt like I was missing substantial history that could have enriched the reader's world perspective. This felt more like a book two as it jumped into action ready scenes. The characters appear to be very well thought out and had good dialogue but I was missing an initial spark to catch my attention so I could grow attached to the characters. There fore I would rate this a 2 out of 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

False Gods by Don Newton, simply a failed book for me. It didn't capture me nor draw me in to enjoy it and I struggled to want to turn the page. I can see how others would like it though. Thank you for giving me a chance with this book.

I enjoyed reading this book but found at times I was jarred out of the story by the similarities to certain popular sci-fi and fantasy franchises. I also believe there could of been more character development as I felt the key characters lacked depth. Having said that, I liked the basic premise and think that the scope of the idea could lead to a good series of books. Overall, an enjoyable read and I would come back for more.
