I love the chance at getting to read many new and up and coming writers that I may have never got the chance to read from if it wasn’t for this book. The essays were all so different and full of different writing styles. I never really read things that are out of my reading comfort zones, but after reading all of these essays I will have to go out and read more from these amazing authors.
I really enjoyed Crissy Van Meter’s writing style, it had so much emotions and the pacing was done really well. Her essay, The Green Flash, and her story, Creatures were some of my favorites out of the whole book.

I enjoyed reading these excerpts from these books - lots of new authors to look forward to and a lot of variety within this reader.

I love these readers! They are a great opportunity to check out what's coming next (here with a collection of essays). In this edition Gabriel Bump caught my attention with his depiction of life in Chicago.

I always love a good book preview. This edition was great because it also included original essays by the authors. I'll definitely be checking out the books featured.

This preview introduced me to a group of new authors that have produced a wide variety of interesting works. I enjoyed their explanations of how the works came about--the creative process is not linear, and writers should not give up even when an initial concept is not working for one reason or another. I look forward to reading more from Algonquin soon.

I love reading previews like this. My TBR always grows exponentially. So many great books are coming out now and it's great to be able to read them before release and be their cheerleaders as they come out into the world.
