My grandchildren both have favorite stuffed animal friends, one a dog, the other a bear. When we read this story they laughed and wanted to know if they could get a real animal like Meena. I reminded them that they have a dog and a cat, but they wanted their stuffies to come alive. Meena was obsessed by camels and when her parents got her a real one, she never wanted to get off it. After awhile, the camel was no longer welcome anywhere, therefore Meena wasn't either. This was a cute, humorous story. The illustrations were adorable. Seeing the camel try to sit at a school desk or take a bath in the bathtub is pretty funny. The text was simple and the kids were able to shout out the phrase, "Get Off That Camel" when it came to it in the story. Luckily a doctor was able to make a diagnosis to finally get Meena off her camel. My grandson loved the facts at the back of the book. He thought that camels spitting was pretty funny. I definitely recommend this one for families with young children, schools or preschools.

#GetOffThatCamel #NetGalley Cute story about a little kid who can't get enough of a camel. I enjoyed the repetition and it kept my kids interested the whole time.

Certainly a unique picture book. A bit of a leap, going from a favorite plush toy to owning a real camel. I like the message that force isn't the solution to the the trouble, compassion is. They can't convince her that she's being unreasonable but they can show her that her obsession is hurting her camel. Her love is strong enough to do thing thing that's best for her friend.

I thought here would be a little more to the story. I don’t have a problem with the disobedience in the book, but some readers might.

The illustrations are the best thing about this book. They are absolutely charming. The actual story itself - well, there's not really all that much to it. I enjoyed reading the book but I probably won't remember much about it.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. I loved the pictures. I loved the text. I think children would love it during storytime and would end up yelling "Get off that camel." I love the camel facts at the back. I can't wait for the library to get this one.

Sweet little story with lovely illustrations. Meena is reminiscent of all those little boys and girls that never want to give up their favorite toy or pet, until they realize it is for the best.

If you are a camel lover like I am, you will enjoy this book! Meena just loves her camel so much, she never wants to leave him and nobody is happy about it! What will Meena do? Read this book to find out and have a surprise at the end. Camel facts at the end are a bonus!

Get Off That Camel is a cute, funny book about a little girl named Meena who, as the title suggests, just won't get of her pet camel! This is a fun story with great illustrations.

Get Off That Camel was an interesting story about a girl who started with a toy camel and never let it go, then got a real camel and never stopped riding it. At first I was puzzled by the story, but it all came together in the end when the girl passed her stuffed camel onto her new brother.

Getting your favorite pet animal for a birthday is awesome. But in this story, Meena and her new pet camel become inseparable.

Thoughts:
A cute story about a little girl who was given a stuffed animal when she was a baby and fell in love. But when she gets a real one for her birthday it becomes an obsession. Meena goes from place to place never getting off her camel until her parents have had enough and start telling her to “Get off that camel!”

The illustrations in this story are clean and crisp and are fun to look at as Meena sits on her camel while eating, taking a bath, swimming, or watching a movie at the local movie theater (I’d hate to be the one sitting behind her). Although the story is cute, I do think there was a transition missing from Meena sitting on the camel too much to her parents telling her to get off. Something along the lines of one or two sentence saying her parents were growing frustrated or the destruction of the house was becoming an issue. The phrase just seemed to show up without seeing anything within the story about how there was a concern. Other than one moment, I found the rest of the book to be very adorable.

At the end of the story are a couple of pages with fun facts about camels, such as how many eyelids that have and how long they typically live.

This was a cute story about a little girl obsessed with her camel! She grows up with a stuffed camel then transitions to a real camel. She rides the camel incessantly until she realizes the camel is exhausted. She has to exercise restraint and only ride her camel sometimes to let it rest. A great lesson in this book about growing up and becoming responsible and more independent. And helping little kids learn to let go of their security objects. Beautiful illustrations and my boys especially loved the camel facts at the end!
