Peter Lombard has decided to take his wife Eva to Hongkong for their anniversary. Little does he know that the romantic trip he planned will turn into life in a spy novel.
After a long flight and a bitter argument, Peter decided to sleep it off. Eva decided to take a nice long bath behind a locked door. Not a great start to their anniversary.
When Eva decides to leave the motel and walk in the close by park, she is attacked and nearly robbed of her purse and camera. She escapes and runs for shelter at an ex boyfriend house.
Meanwhile her husband is also attacked.. Tbet are finally rescued by a secret organization that helps people.
There are also other happenings in this story. Great spy stuff.

This is a story where a husband and wife go on a romantic getaway and the wife disappears. There are multiple story lines in this book that at times I found a little confusing. If I was able to read the book straight through I might not have had a problem juggling all the characters. I did enjoy this book as it was really well written and I enjoyed the ending.

Catherine can make people disappear. She does this in order to protect those who are hunted, haunted, or otherwise in need of hiding. She can't do it all on her own, so she brings in people to help her. Nina Sadowsky has woven seemingly unrelated people and events together to tell a story of greed and intrigue. Very well written - I finished this book in one sitting.

This book left me a bit confused. It was a little hard to follow in my opinion.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced reader’s copy.

This was a really interesting read! Lots going on with the Burial Society and keeping up with all the fascinating characters. I liked the society, who help people disappear from bad situations. Eva was well drawn as was Peter as a married couple caught up in something they didn't understand. Well done - thanks for my copy NetGalley!

This book was fast paced, filled with suspense, and with great, rich descriptions of characters and places. I felt like I got a vivid picture of Hong Kong while reading this book. I loved how all the characters had interesting back stories and clear flaws, while still being people you could like and root for.

My only complaint about this book would be that the mystery about why Eva was being followed was a little lackluster. While we found out who was following her, why they were following her, and what happened, it wasn't the big finish I was hoping for. It was just kind of quickly explained, not in any major detail, and that was it. I wanted more of that. A meatier explanation that would really fill it all in.

This oft-confusing story was really three different stories that finally come together in a rather strange, unsatisfying way. The language was bad, and I didn't care for ANY of the characters, even the "heroine" who was missing from the empty bed. There was a lot of action, for those who enjoy that in a read, but it bothered me that the book made it sound like it was okay to kill people as long as they had committed wrongs. While I was quite impressed with the author's credentials, I doubt I'll read her again.

A nonsensical bit of fluff that probably is the most ridiculous book I have ever read. Poor writing. Ridiculous characters, and a plot worthy of a migraine headache. What is unbelievable to me is that this book ever made it into print, Shame!

When is a kidnapping a rescue and she is a disappearance voluntary or due to the actions or circumstances of another - friend, , enemy or stranger? That's the conundrum faced by FBI agent Maggie Guzman in the two cases she's tracking - a wealthy man's wife and son have gone missing, and the wife of a businessman whose seemingly impromptu suggestion of a romantic trip to Hong Kong to the wife he's been neglecting while he proves his value to his employer ends in in disappearance. And there's a third person in Maggie's sights who may or may not be connected to either of those seemingly unrelated events.
A clever, well-crafted thriller with a tricky plot and a strong narrative drive this novel to it's surprising denouement.

I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! I didn't expect the path that it took. A married couple going to Hong Kong for a getaway, only to have the wife disappear. There are many twists and turns along the way in this book. You will not be disappointed. I could not put this book down. If you like psychological thrillers, this is the book for you!

I absolutely loved this story. The melding of characters was brilliant. I could not put this one down!!!

The Peter/Eva story was strong as it melded along with Catherine, Jake and Steph. Loved the surprises along the way. The twists began early and just kept on coming!'

HIGHLY recommend !

Many Thanks to Random House Books - Ballantine and NetGalley for a truly wonderful read.

5 ⭐️ I loved this book so much. It flew by and I didn’t want it to end. It’s so brilliantly written that even though there are multiple main characters and three situations taking place, it never once gets confusing. Each storyline is woven together effortlessly. This book had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened. Each of the three stories within the book were so fascinating. This book contains everything you could ask for: suspense, thrill, drama, mystery, crime etc. It will truly hold your interest the entire time. I recommend picking this up in January. It will leave you wanting more.

What a fantastic read!! The Empty Bed is the first book I’ve read from Nina Sadowsky and I am completely wow’ed! I love reading mystery/thrillers that stump me and Nina’s intricately spun storyline had me guessing and then second guessing the who, what, where, and how! Every conspiracy theory I came up with was wrong and the well timed twists and turns had me glued to my kindle until the end! At about half way through this 5 star read I was already looking up Nina’s previous novels on Amazon because I want to read every book she’s written! I’m so flipping excited to dive into more books from Nina Sadowsky!

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy. This book was a bit confusing. Eva goes missing but then is located. A very odd story which causes the husband Peter to involve his ex-girlfriend to find his wife. Even his boss. It just didn't mesh. Just did not work for me. Did not make sense.

This had all the makings of a terrific cat and mouse thriller if the story had centered exclusively around Pete and Eva. I found the Catherine/Jake/Stephanie chapters to be somewhat disruptive, diverting my attention away from the main protagonists(?)' story. Although a bit jarring at times, it was still an entertaining story that I would recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Nina Sadowsky for an ARC of 'The Empty Bed' in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

I loved it! Well written, intriguing, surprising, it was a refreshing new take on thrillers. I have not read The Burial Society but this is evidentially a sequel and I surmise the first of many. Welcome to Catherine, team leader of the Society whose brains and grit I cheered throughout the novel.
She and her team follow a series of interlocking stories as the book unravels the mysteries that link them. She brings it all to fruition in the end as many mysteries often fail to do effectively. All is revealed in the last chapter and brilliantly. Cannot wait to read the next installment. Bravo!

This is a good solid thriller. It keeps you engaged from page one and I found myself unable to put it down at certain points. I should have read her previous books however as I think it would have explained the Burial Society more.

This book left me very confused. It seemed to have 2 or more stories going at once. I don’t really like first person books much anyway. And this one was very odd.
