Beryl, a Yank and Edwina, a Brit share a house in Walmsly Parva and act as private inquiry agents in their not so innocent village. who knew there would be so much to investigate? This time almost literally in their own back yard. Their case involves the death of their gardeners brother in law. It turns out that their gardener has been sleeping in their garden shed and the police come searching for him as he was las seen having a dust up with the dead man. Is it a simple case of a family row or is there much more to uncover? Yes, there is much for Beryl and Edwina to suss out but I'm going to stay mum as I don't want to give anything away. If you are new to this delightful series, no worries, this one can be read as a stand alone but be warned, you will, I'm certain, want to play catch up with the other books. It will be reading time very well spent.,

Walmsly Parva is a quaint, quiet English village. Not. It's 1921 and there's something afoot. Beryl Halliwell, an American, and Edwina Davenport, a Brit, have formed an investigative agency and they've discovered they've got business on their own turf! Edwina's gardener Simpkins is suspected by Constable Gibbs of murdering his brother in law but Edwina is certain that's not the case. Turns out, there's more going on in Walmsly Parva than anyone knew. I'm going to leave it to the reader to figure out out how mustard comes into this! No spoilers! I'm a fan of this series because of the delightful matchup of Beryl and Edwina who have just wonderful dialogue (always get a chuckle or two). Don't worry if you haven't read the earlier books- you'll be fine with this as a standalone and then you'll be like me and looking for the next one. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A fun cozy.

Fabulous book from start to finish. I read this without having previously read the two already written. I didn't feel as if I was missing anything. The main characters were so fun and human. I loved hearing the different perspectives and how they kept the story flowing. It wasn't a book I felt the need to rush through but instead I wanted to enjoy each chapter and then contemplate how it would all come together in the end. Can't wait to go back and read the first and second in the series!

Oh, how I lOVE this series! It combines my love of all things British, fun characters and a great mystery. In this third installment, Edwina and Beryl deal with an interloper in the grading shed, ashes on a gravestone and condiments! If you're wondering how all of those things come together to make any sense, you'll have to read the book when it's published. Also-make sure you check out the author's note to check in on the historical context in which the story is set.

This is such a great cosy mystery! Despite not reading the previous two novels in this series, I soon found myself totally engrossed in the story. The two main protagonists are chalk and cheese, but as a sleuthing pair they work really well together.

The characters make this series. The personalities and motivations of the characters are reminiscent of people in one’s own life. Add in the descriptions of the village and the historical era and you have a very entertaining read.

This book made a nice break from all the romances I have been reading recently. It is a nice cozy crime set in 1921, in which two friends have recently set up a private enquiry agency.

I enjoyed reading this story, although it contains murders, it is light hearted and easy to read. It is not as humorous as I prefer my cozy crime to be, but it is still good fun.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
