Three Widows and a Corpse by Debra Sennefelder is the third A Food Blogger Mystery. Hope Early is participating in the town’s annual scavenger hunt which benefits the local community center. Her team stops at Avery Bistro to obtain an item on the list when Hope notices a familiar looking car in the back parking lot. She wanders over to find the driver’s side door open and real estate developer, Lionel Whitcomb dead on the ground. It soon becomes apparent that in addition to Lionel’s shady business dealings, he was also a bigamist. There are three women claiming to be his wife. Hope has no intention of getting involved with the case, but her natural curiosity wins out. The killer is not happy with Hope’s nosiness and issues a series of warnings. Three Widows and a Corpse can be read as a standalone for those new to this series. Hope Early is a food blogger and is working on an article for Cooking Now magazine as well as taking care of her animals and working on her home. I found Three Widows and a Corpse easy to read and it moved along at a steady pace. Jane Merrifield and her sister, Sally are back along with Drew Adams (reporter and friend), Ethan Cahill (Chief of Police and boyfriend), and Claire Dixon (sister). When Hope stumbles upon Lionel Whitcomb’s body, she states she is not going to investigate which pleases Detective Sam Reid and Ethan Cahill. However, Hope cannot help but ask questions especially when witnesses keep showing up at her home unannounced. Hope asks questions while plying them with her culinary delights. Of course, she is told by Detective Reid and Ethan several times to stay out of the investigation. The guilty party warns Hope off, but it just makes Hope more determined expose the killer. There are several suspects along with misdirection and direct clues. Readers will have no problem identifying the killer long before the solution is revealed. There is mild foul language in this novel. Three Widows and a Corpse is the perfect story for those readers who enjoy lighthearted, food related mysteries. Three Widows and a Corpse is an amiable cozy mystery with a troublesome two-timer, warring widows, a scavenger search, a sad sibling, and a repressive reporter.

Cozy Mystery With Food Porn Recipes
This is an intriguing cozy mystery concerning a bigamist. Our heroine is a food blogger and several great recipes are posted at the end of the book. The plot is just dandy! The author makes the story about more than just food. Although this book is third in the series, it stands alone with no problem. I love that this is a longer book that the reader can really get into. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

Debra Sennefelder has done it again, her small town has a big heart and a bigger murder problem!

Jefferson has various fun fundraisers during the year to help charities one of the favourite ones is the annual scavenger hunt where teams of 4 need to find items in short order, one thing no one expected though was to find a dead body, the dead body of someone who was going to be going to court for shady business dealings. As if that wasn't bad enough his wife was also in the scavenger hunt and saw his dead body ..... or at least ONE of his wives! It turns out that he was not known for following through on his divorces and each of his three wives is now in Jefferson!

Hope tries to stay out of the investigation but his third "wife" is asking for her help and besides which her native curiosity is alive and well! Now all she needs to do is keep herself alive as the murderer seems to have the idea that this food blogger should end up with an obituary.

The mystery is well-maintained throughout the book. The red herrings are sure to direct the readers on a wrong path. The characters are well portrayed and likeable.

Hope Early is somewhat of a Ms Nosy Parker. She cannot mind her business. She's been warned by the police and the killer to stay away from trouble. But Hope and trouble go hand in hand. (Hope-fully in trouble. Excuse the pun!) Bigelow the dog and Princess the cat adds quite a charm to the story. Of course, no cozy is complete without furry friends and delicious baked goodies. Given that Hope is a food blogger, there is always food in her fridge. Chocolate and Walnut muffins, flourless chocolate cake, pies... yum, yum!

The identity of the killer is unexpected. But I gotta say that I did have a doubt that so-and-so is somehow involved. But it didn't spoil me from enjoying the story because Debra is a brilliant author and she knows how to put the detective in you off track.

I recommend this book to those who love to read Cozy Mysteries.

Three Widows and a Corpse by Debra Sennefelder is the 3rd book in a Food Blogger Mystery series. I really love this series. This is the third book in the series, but can be read as a stand alone book.

This is a well written mystery. I really like the Hope at Home blog, it adds another dimension to the story.

The characters are well written and developed.

Looking forward to the next book in this great cozy mystery series.

I didn’t read earlier books in the series but the author did a decent job of explaining relevant backstory. This is one of the better cozy mysteries I’ve read. I somehow figured out who the culprit was right away, but the reveal kept me coming back for more. The dialogue and pacing was good and I found myself not wanting to put this book down.

3.5 stars, rounded up. The newest addition to the Food Blogger Mystery series featuring Hope Early is pretty solid. I found the mystery in this one to be on the more predictable side, but I appreciate a cozy series that gives the characters room to grow as well as letting them be sleuths, and Hope is working on both career and relationship decisions and issues throughout this story. It continues to be a cozy series I'd recommend.

This is one of the best cozy mysteries I have read this year ! The author has created a wonderful series that is the "definitive" cozy series. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the ARC. My review opinion is my own. Review cross posted at publication on Net Galley, Barnes & Nobel, Good Reads and Amazon.

Three Widows and a Corpse by Debra Sennefelder is the 3rd book in a Food Blogger Mystery series. This book can be read as a stand alone however I do recommend highly the entire series. The author does introduce the charcters in this next in series for new readers. This was a great addition to the series and my favorite . The author created such a well crafted sleuth that I was surprised at the ending and enjoyed the sleuth to conclusion! Once I started reading this book i was unable to put it down until conclusion.

,Hope lives in the charming fictional town of Jefferson, Connecticut. She is a food and lifestyle blogger who has worked hard to build her blog and brand over the past few years after a major career change . She loves creating receipes for her blog and some of the receipes are included at the end of the book. She lives in a home she is renovating slowly with her dog and cat who are both new rescues to her. I love Hope as a main charcter as she is savvy , smart and hard working as a independent women. It is refreshing to read about a independent women not depending on men or family for their living. .Well done to the author for creating such a likable woman protagonist. I was fascinated to find out all the hard work that goes into maintaining a blog and how she made a living from this career as a food blogger.

Hope has a reputation for finding bodies and solving mysteries much to the chagrin of the town police. . When she finds the town's shady real estate developer dead she is warned to not investigate. Then three women claim to be his wife as the mystery grows and each wife's charcter is very different and adds humor to the story. The three women proceed to provide great humor throughout as they fight for the estate of their dead husband. The sleuth was so well crafted I really enjoyed all the differing nuances of the investigation by Hope. She does not take orders from those demanding she stop investigating and moves forward finding many different clues even when she is in danger. She is a savvy investigator and soon had several suspects in her sights.

This book surprised me many times which I loved. I enjoyed the charcters and how the author created supporting charcters that add so much to the story.. The plot, setting and town were done to perfection. I enjoyed reading this book in one sitting to conclusion it was so good ! . I highly recommend this cozy mystery for your reading enjoyment. i cannot wait for the next in series. Very well done to the author !

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Books for providing me with an ARC of this book. I had a good time reading Three Widows and a Corpse. The title alone had grabbed my attention, and I was even more interested once I had read the description. I was not disappointed, and had a delightful time reading the book. Even though I had not read the two previous entries in the series, Debra Sennefelder makes it very easy for readers to understand what happened previously. The characters are interesting, I particularly like Hope and Claire. I thought it was really cute how Hope takes care of her chickens. The story is well built, and there are many suspects to choose from. I thought it was very refreshing in a story to have three different widows for one dead man, the author has a very good imagination. I hope this series will be around for many more entries.

What a joy to spend some time with Hope and her family and friends. Being a food blogger isn't as easy as spending time at home cooking and photographing the results. Hope works hard and now she is doing a spread on low calorie food for Cooking Now! magazine. At the same time she is involved in the town scavenger hunt. Now how much trouble can a scavenger hunt be? Well Hope seems to be a bit of a murder magnet and, sure enough, during the hunt she stumbles upon a very dead body. It's a local, shady, real estate developer. If that's not enough to deal with, Hope isn't alone when she finds him - she has company. His wife is part of the scavenger hunt and her scream isn't the only one heard. turns out two other women in the group scream that he's their husband. Oops, that's awkward. Sort of a case of who's on first, etc. The big question isn't just how did him in but what's the story of three wives.
Hope has no intention of getting involved but one thing leads to another and despite the police taking a dim view of her even asking questions, she gets drawn into the hunt for the killer when another body turns up and a threat is made at Hope. Her boyfriend, who happens to be the police chief, wants her to stay far away from danger but that will ever happen with Hope. I enjoyed the puzzle with its twists and turns, causing me to pick the wrong suspect as the killer. Add to the cast of characters a cat, a dog and a chicken - plus a bit of romance and humor? It was the perfect reading escape.

I don’t think this series can be read with any standalones. I was fairly confused starting this book, and figured out the relationships between the characters about halfway through. Unfortunately, that’s also when I decided it was slow and frustrating. I skipped from 50% to 85% on my kindle, and I honestly didn’t miss a thing. The murderer was easily deduced in the first quarter of the book. Maybe a good series for children.

I read a lot of cozy mysteries, and I understand the pressure authors are under to try to make it not feel ridiculous that a baker, blogger, yoga teacher, etc., is solving murders. You have to set up some reason for the investigation, and you probably have to have someone objecting to that investigation. Okay, fine. But I feel like half this book is spent with Hope being questioned about whether she's involving herself in the investigation. That feels like more of a focus than the actual murder investigation! Kinda crazy. Too bad, because I liked Hope's character and career as a food blogger, and I thought it was an interesting set-up. But the author is hitting the reader over the head repeatedly with the Hope-you-aren't-investigating-this-are-you conversations.

Three Widows and a Corpse by Debra Sennefelder is the 3rd book in a Food Blogger Mystery series, and another good addition to the series. Hope Early is a food and lifestyle blogger, Hope at Home, who lives in Jefferson, Connecticut. I really enjoy this series, the stories are so creative. Hope finds the town's shady real estate developer dead, as she participates in a scavenger hunt. When three women claim to be his wife, the mystery gets even better. This book has twists around every corner, which I enjoyed. I love the unique people and situations in this book. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. If you love cozy mysteries, I highly recommend this book and series.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and Kensington Publishing. Thank you.

Three Widows and a Corpse is the third book in Debra Sennefelder’s Food Blogger Mysteries series. This enjoyable read is steadily paced, with a great cast of well-developed characters, lots of twists and turns, and several suspects to keep the reader engaged.

Hope Early, a lifestyle and food blogger, recently moved back to her hometown of Jefferson, Connecticut; she’s renovating the home she purchased, adopted a dog named Bigelow and a cat named Princess, and is dating Chief of Police Ethan Cahill. Hope, who spent years as a magazine editor, is currently collaborating with Cooking Now, a popular food magazine, and is quite surprised when she’s offered a full-time position. Her sister, Claire Dixon, also lives in Jefferson with her husband and two children, is a licensed real estate agent, and is depressed after losing the mayoral election. Her best friend, Drew Adams, is a reporter for the North Country Gazette newspaper. Drew’s feeling pressured because he’s competing with a new cutthroat reporter, Norrie Jennings. Hope and her teammates, Claire, Drew, and Jane Merrifield, are looking forward to the Annual Scavenger Hunt. Unfortunately, early in the hunt, Hope once again finds a body. The body is identified as Lionel Whitcomb, a shady real estate developer who is currently facing felony charges. His current wife, Elaine Whitcomb, is also participating in the scavenger hunt and in the parking lot when the body is discovered, as well as Miranda Whitcomb and Rona Whitcomb, who both claim to be Lionel’s wife because their divorces were never finalized. When Maurice Pomeroy, a chef and friend of Hope’s is killed in a hit and run in the back parking lot of the same restaurant, she is convinced the two murders are connected and feels responsible because when she’d spoken to him, he remembered something he’d seen the night Lionel was murdered. Hope, who loves a mystery and has always been able to figure out whodunit in mystery books, finds herself caught up, asking questions, snooping around, and in harm’s way once again.

I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

This is the third book in the Food Blogger Mystery Series and my first read. While the mystery is self-contained within this novel, it would have helped to understand the secondary characters and their relationships to Hope, the protagonist, to have read the first two books prior to reading this one. There are many references to previous activities and situations that created emotions for characters in this book with no recap of what had occurred. A reader who picks this book up out of sequence will need to draw some inferences to gain a better understanding of relationships and perhaps some reactions to situations.
The plot provides several potential suspects and some good red herrings as well as some clues. The story is choppy in spaces, with Hope getting information or meetings mentioned and scheduled; but then no follow up for a number of chapters. It leaves the reader wondering for a while if there is going to be a loose end or two. While these are resolved before the end of the book, the continuity is sparse.
The secondary characters have some interest, and the series may improve as they continue to be fleshed out more through subsequent books. There are some recipes at the end of the novel which look good, and this should appeal to people who are looking to expand their kitchen repertoire.
There are some places Hope spends her time, her house she is rehabbing, a coffee shop, and a local inn to name a few. I would like to have these shown to me through Hope’s eyes so that I could get a better idea of what her town is like. Also, I would like to see some of the other characters through Hope’s eyes as I think that would help them become more fully developed.
Thank you to Kensington Books Publishing and NetGalley for providing me an advanced digital read copy of this in exchange for an unbiased review.

Lots of changes have many people emotionally off balance. Hope has been enjoying success with her food blog but the option of a steady paycheck is appealing. Her sister Claire has lost an election and is no longer part of her real estate office. She's holed up in a huge, unfinished house.
So when it is time for the town's annual Scavenger Hunt, bringing people together, Hope is hoping for some entertainment and fun. What she does not count on is finding ANOTHER dead body.
Could it be coincidence that two women have just arrived in town that share the dead man's last name?
Emotionally charged and full of shady connections, this is a book about moving forward and dealing with life's difficult situations head on. Will Hope get involved in the investigation? After all, she DID discover the body. Will this put Hope in physical danger herself? She tries to protect those she loves and be friendly to others she perceives as hurting.
Plenty of delicious opportunities pop up to help Hope and friends as they get mixed up in a murder. Was it revenge or just being in the wrong place at the really wrong time?

You may want to read this book while waiting for a few of the delicious recipes included to bake up.

Three Widows and a Corpse is a very entertaining murder mystery. Imagine a scavenger hunt, one dead body and three women all claiming said corpse as their husband! Quirky and fun read. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.

Lionel was married three times? Seriously? Well, someone out there really didn't like this kinda rotten real estate developer because someone murdered him and Hope found his body! Yikes. Turns out, his current wife (and everyone else) is very surprised to discover that his two not really ex-wives are also in town so there's more than the usual number of suspects. Hope, despite being warned off by Ethan, the police chief who is also her boyfriend, and Sam, the detective, she of course investigates along with her friends Drew, Jane, and Sally, and of course, her sister Claire. The dialogue is snappy, the mystery a little twisty, and there's a nice vibe, possibly due to the fact that Hope's a food blogger and there's lovely descriptions of yummy eats. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Classic cozy- and there are recipes !

This book was such an engaging read that kept me thinking and guessing the whole way through. Main character Hope has a lot going on, with renovating her farmhouse, writing posts for her blog, preparing entries for a cookbook, and putting time in for an assignment with a local magazine. When a local (not well-liked) man is killed, she still manages to make time to investigate, trying to get to the bottom of the unknown killer even if it puts her in danger. There are some strong suspects and weak alibis in this story, and another mysterious death makes Hope second guess herself. I was quite surprised by the reveal, which made a satisfying ending. I like the Food Blogger series and hope it continues!

I received an advance copy of this book. This review contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
