Growing pains.
It's good to go back to this town and these people. Yancey has loved Hale for years, but he's always tried to avoid her attention. They both turn to a matrimonial agency, with unexpected results. The town has a murder mystery that needs to be solved. The story is very well told, as usual. I felt connected right to the end. Excellent story! There is both good and bad in many situations, their faith carries them through.

This was a crazy story. Yancy has been tasked with helping the political campaign of the man she has fallen in love with and who wants nothing to do with her. Through many trials she has given him up only to find that he has fallen in love with him. Will they find time to be with each other before it’s too late?

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Yancy Palmer has love Hale Adam’s most of her life, but pursuing him was no good because he ignored her. Circumstances leads both to sign up with the Archer Matrimonial Company to try and find someone to care for. But they were not expecting what they found.

I enjoyed this book so much! I loved the characters, and the plot was great, keeping my attention throughout the book. I wanted to know the ending, though I didn’t want the book to end. I didn’t read the first two books in this series, but the author did a good job of adding enough from the first two reads to make this a good standalone. There is a lot of humor in the book as well that makes it even more fun and entertaining. And you might just find a little mystery added as well. Overall, this is an awesome book to read. If you are looking for a light, fun story, this is a good one to try.

The Telegraph Proposal by authors Gina Welborn andBecca Whitham was a delightful historical romance. This is book three in the Montana Brides series. I was immediately invested in the story. It did not takes pages and chapters, because this book caught my attention quickly.

The writing was easy to follow. It had some twists, surprises, and even humor in it. The descriptions took me back in time and I felt like I was part of the match-maker community! I liked the even pace of the story.

The characters were very well thought and described. They were relatable and quirky. Their emotions became mine.

There were any life lesson included such as hope, forgiveness, redemption, and love. The romance was funny, clean, and exciting, I enjoyed watching it develop.

I highly recommend this sweet book. It receives 4 out of 5 stars from me. A copy was provided by NetGalley but these are my own, honest words.

Romance readers often are able to pick out secondary characters who are going to become protagonists within a series, or those they wish would get their own stories, and that is part of the fun.  The Telegraph Proposal, the third book in the Montana Brides series by Becca Whitham & Gina Welborn, managed to surprise me.

Yancey Palmer's dogged pursuit of Hale Adams has been both cringe inducing and amusing throughout the series.  While I'd failed to imagine Yancey as a potential main protagonist, the heart of this story is in the maturing of these characters, both romantically and in their faith.  The circumstances that she and Hale find themselves in and how they individually deal with each new event and revelation is what keeps the reader hooked.

Hale and Yancey's romance is the perfect continuation of an enjoyable mail-order bride series, and I particularly enjoyed the minor plot points involving the mother-daughter team of the Archer Matrimonial Company.

Recommended, along with the rest of this series, for those who enjoy light mail-order bride stories with a faith element.

Yancy Palmer decided at the age of 10 that Hale Adams was her true love when he stopped a boy from bullying her. It didn't matter that Hale was several years older and not in the least interested in her. She plagued him from that day on and let everyone know she was going to marry him. It is now many years later, and Yancy is trying to move on. But does life have something else in store for her?

This was a truly delightful story. I enjoyed the humor and sweet romance that played out along it's pages. I appreciated how Yancy grew and matured as she realized that her stubborness and actions had hurt people as she relentlessly pursued Hale. Antonia's interference as part of her mother's matchmaking business had good intentions; but sometimes good intentions can lead to bad results. As Yancy worked with Hale on his campaign for mayor, they had a chance to develop a friendship that showed them what they had in common and how they made a good team supporting one another's strengths. Thank you to Welborn for developing a main male character who wore glasses with all the habits that develop in those who wear them! I think this is a first in all the books I have read! It made Hale so realistic.

This books reads well as a stand alone as I have not read the first two books in the series, but the enjoyability of this one will definitely lead me to read the first two. Glad I discovered this new-to-me author.

I enjoyed this story. I love reading books in this time period and thought the authors did a good job with the historical details. At first, I thought this was going to be more of a light-hearted book, but there are some serious themes in this story of greed, pride, and forgiveness. I loved the main character of Yancey. She’s a lovely and compassionate, and a young woman of faith. I did not think that Hale deserved her, and it took me several chapters to finally decide they belonged together. I have not read the other books in this series, but I’ll be looking for them. I’m interested in the stories of some of the other characters in this book.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Sorry, I will not write a review. I gave up about 80 pages in because I just could not get into it. I could not enjoy the characters.

I love stories about convenience or arranged marriages, so when I saw this book available for review, I just had to read it! This story did surprise me a lot! I wasn’t expecting a lot of what happened, and that is something I genuinely enjoy in these types of books. The story pace and character development were good, and It kept my interest in the story until the very end. I also liked the message of forgiveness and second chances that the book has. The romance was funny and exciting, and I liked the fact that it wasn’t loved at first sight but instead a process for them to end where they did.
A very sweet and clean book! I highly recommend it.

Gina Welborn and Becca Whitham have teemed up to write a great historical romance. It has all the parts and moving pieces of an entertaining read--the hero and heroine, the support cast, and the surprising bad guy to give it some intrigue to hold the reader's attention. Beyond that, it wasn't a formulaic romance.

Yancey has signed up for a marriage matching service. She feels she's about to be on the shelf, and the man she has loved for years wants nothing to do with her. Hale Adams has been asked to step in as a candidate for mayor and Yancey has been asked to help out with his campaign. Yancey has been over-exuberant in her pursuit of his affections. When she overhears him saying something about her being a pest, she decides to leave him alone and concentrate on the man the matching service has provided to her.

In the meantime, a search is on for a counterfeiter who is spending fake $5 bills in nearby towns, but trying to keep them out of Helena, Montana, to throw suspicion off of him. The only problem is that the counterfeiter is Hale's uncle and the judge for the area.

This is an appealing book worth five stars, two thumbs up, and a proposal by telegraph.

My thanks go to NetGalley.com and Kensington Books for providing the galley I read for this review.

Yancey and Hale's story was complicated. Yancey had know since she was 10 years old and Hale was 18 that she was going to marry him one day. But, the way she went about it was unwanted so Hale wanted nothing to do with Yancey. In fact, he disliked her greatly. Finally, when Yancey finally realized her unwanted advances weren't going to accomplish what she wanted, she finally backed off. Then, she was asked to help Hale in his campaign for mayor of Helena, Montana. She spent a lot of time with Hale and the more Hale saw who she really was, the more he realized he liked what he saw.

This story has drama, romance, tragedy, death, suspense and so much more. It held my interest and kept me up when I should have been sleeping some nights. It is a clean story with no sex or foul language but there is some violence, although not very graphic in nature.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

The Telegraph Proposal is the third installment from the Montana Brides series. I have enjoyed this series and I believe this one is my favorite to date. I give it four and a half stars.

I enjoyed book three in the Montana Brides Romance series. It did take me a few chapters to get into it, but once I did, I happily kept turning the pages. (You do need to read the others in the series to follow what’s going on in book 3.)

Opposites attract in this tale of miscommunication and misunderstanding. We see throughout how “no man is an island” because our actions affect others. And in this book boy, did their actions affect others. Well developed, colorful characters move the story along at a good pace with the occasional surprise twist.

Clean romance, mystery, and intrigue make this a book well worth reading if you enjoy historical fiction.

Gina Welborn and Becca Whitman have worked together to create this final story in The Montana Brides Inspirational Romance Series. I have not as yet read any of the previous books in the series and did not feel as though I was missing any information. The authors provide background to this historical fiction novel; helping the reader understand the history behind the novel. Not only is The Telegraph Proposal a great clean romance it also provides, in story form, a lesson in how our actions can and do affect those around us and the need for forgiveness. The characters seem very real – at times I want to shake some sense into them and at other times I wanted to hug them and let them cry on my shoulder.

I would not hesitate to add The Telegraph Proposal to my k-12 Christian school library. It would be appropriate for middle school and up.

I want to thank JustRead Publicity Tours for the complimentary e-copy of The Telegraph Proposal. This is my honest review.

I really enjoyed this historical fiction story because it takes place in Montana Territory before the small town of Helena was named the Capital of Montana. As with all small towns everyone loves to gossip and the two main characters Yancey and Hale have a long and annoying history they both would like to forget. When they have to work together on Hale’s campaign for Mayor their newly formed truce will be sorely tested by mysterious events, devious characters and life lessons for Hale, Yancey and the entire town as this dramatic and heartfelt series comes to a close. I recommend reading the books in order for maximum enjoyment. I read an early copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.

Yancey Palmer has loved Hale Adams since she was a little girl, but she has finally put her crush on Hale to rest after the Archer Matrimonial Agency matches her with a mysterious man from Denver. She agrees to help Hale run for mayor in Helena, MT because she believes that she may be moving to Denver to start a life with Nathaniel St. John.

Hale Adams has engaged the services of a matrimonial agency to help him find a bride, but none of the matches please him, and the ladies of the Archer Matrimonial Agency are almost at their wits end to find him a match, until they come up with a scheme. Hale has a predictable, but lonely schedule, working all day, then dining alone every day.

But when the real identity of their matches are revealed, can they look past their past and misunderstanding to give love a chance?

Though the third in the series, it can be read as a stand alone though there are wonderful references to previous characters in this book.

An engaging tale of misunderstandings and miscommunication, Hale and Yancey are opposites who compliment each other well. Hale is more introverted, and tends to shy away from crowds and big social events, while Yancey is very personable, and natural in social situations. Hale and Yaney both bring out the best in each other, and their friendship rekindles naturally while they both assume that they are writing to someone else.

Yancey really grows in her faith over the course of the book, and she encourages Hale to deal with pain from the past.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable read, with great characters, engaging plot, and even a mystery on the side with an undercover counterfeit ring. I really liked the original plot, and how Yancey and Hale interact, with their differences becoming their strengths. I like how they both grow in their faith and as people. I loved every bit of it!

This is definitely not a typical mail-order bride book. It went so much deeper than that! The struggle between the two main characters was amusing. I liked that they didn’t just jump into a romantic relationship right away. They had to learn who they are and how to forgive past hurts before they could move forward into a life together. I would definitely recommend this book!

Imagine a matrimonial company that helps people find their future mate. Precursor to the modern online match-up sites, a woman in Montana Territory offers this service. Yancey Palmer has pursued Hale Adams for years, but finally decided he’s not her match. However, her friend plots to get them together and uses the service her attempt. Can such a scheme work? This intriguing tale offers an enjoyable read. I hadn’t read the second book in the series, and I think it would have been a richer reading experience to read the books in order so all the backstory shared in this one is familiar. I received a copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I rarely jump into a series when it's finishing up, but I'm so glad I did in this case! The story was so much fun to read, with colorful characters, an engaging plot, and amazing character development. The progression the main characters made in a short time frame was really well done. It felt realistic and was a learning experience for me, as I had my doubts that it could be done. While it would have probably helped to have read the first two books prior to this one, it was simple for me to catch up and understand what had happened before. My enjoyment of the story was not impeded in any way, and it makes me wish there were to look forward to with this series.

Hale Adams and Yancey Palmer are most definitely *not* a match made in heaven. Yancey has been in love with Hale since she was ten, but her obsession with convincing him that they are perfect for each other has become overbearing through the years. Now wishing to marry someone, but not each other, both turn to a matchmaking service to find love at last. The matchmaker is having a hard time with Hale though, as he rejected the last nine candidates, and so, after hearing Yancey's tale of unrequited love, decides to match the two of them instead. Only they have no idea that they are each other's match! When they decide to meet in person, they are shocked, and soon they have to deal with their conflicting emotions. They loved each other on paper, but in person it remains to be seen.

Hearing the backstory of Hale and Yancey, I was extremely skeptical of this relationship. Yancey was almost scarily obsessed with Hale, and I didn't blame him for not liking her for it. I didn't see how they could possibly fall in love. However, the letters they exchanged began to kindle the flame, and once they realized their matches were each other, that spark of interest had already been established. It was only a matter of time before they realized that they loved each other, they just had to get past old hurts in order to find themselves together. I loved when Hale began to court Yancey, and their love was so real and natural. Their reconciliation wasn't instantaneous, and it took a lot of effort from both of them. The character development really hit home with me, and I couldn't wait to see how everything turned out in the end.

I'm so glad to have discovered new authors in Gina Welborn and Becca Whitham! Now I need to go back and read the first two books in this series...

I love marriage of convenience stories and mail order brides definitely fall into this category so I went into this excited about another wonderful story. I got this and more. A mail order bride story with a twist. What I wasn't expecting was the whiplash of sudden change in events a few chapters in but this drew me in and held me spellbound from then on. Although there was no mystery or suspense to uncover, the issues dealt with through the course of the story like forgiveness and second chances had me turning the pages. The romance thread was well written. I like that they didn't just jump at a chance to be together they had been through so much and had been hurt in the process. They had to learn to forgive and get past previous hurts to truly be together.
A truly delightful read.
