I have read some innovation books that break the myth of innovator as a lone genius. this book goes a little further and show sthat most percentage of innovations come from employees and very few from founders. This book has an ineresting style where a case is looked at many times over in different chapters. This might or minght not work with all readers. Imagine matrix style. This might keep the memory of the case going on till the end of the book or you migh be frustrated to read about it again and again, instead of a deep dive at once. The variety pf examples are great. Probably this is the first time I am reading of innovation in publishing as a main case. Cinnabon's case from Knowledge Wharton is interesting..

In Driving Innovation from Within, Kaihan Krippendorff challenges the common held belief that one needs to leave their full-time job in order to succeed. According to research, quoted in the book, approximately 70% of the world’s greatest innovations (cell phone, internet, MRI scans etc) were made by intrapreneurs and not entrepreneurs. Like he says early on in the book, he does not share anything that’s new under the sun but he does provide a tight-knit holistic framework (INOVATE model) that will convince any employee that they can be innovate at their desk job.

As Whitney Johnson shared on her podcast, Disrupt Yourself ( while interviewing the author), this book is a pleasure to read. It balances research , with theories and case studies across various industries. Hence, it can be easily read by those in academia as well as regular employees.

If you have ever felt frustrated at work about your creative ideas being shut down by upper management, then I would urged you to read this book, because Krippendorff literally holds your hand through the innovation process.

For those who are looking for a comprehensive insights on intrapreneurship this one will do the job. The concepts as well as the guides are well explained. The author did a great job in illustrating the points as well in making the flow of ideas smooth.

The best thing I learned in this book is that anyone inside the organization has a stake in innovation. Employees, not the entrepreneurs, are the greatest source of innovative ideas. The book discussed the ways on how we can develop this mindset.

I also like that the book provided numerous innovation projects of different companies.

Readers will really learn a lot in this book.

This is one of the best and most comprehensive books on innovation. The most valuable part is that this book covers innovation aspects in both entrepreneurial and corporate worlds. I think many people can either learn or get inspired by the contents full of examples, storirs, frameworks and innovation strategy and tactics.
