Ohhhh, I really loved this one! It has a typical theme for suspense that I have read, but I loved how the story flowed from beginning to end. It sucked me in. Danny and Skylar, loved this couple.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I really liked Danny. He seemed to subconsciously wait for Skylar to come back into his life. He had a crush on her in High School and she moved away as soon as they graduated. He never got serious with anyone else in the time they were apart and I like that it might have been because his heart was already taken. Skylar also had a crush on Danny in high school. If only these two had the guts to approach each other, but then Danny had a point when he said it just wasn't their time yet. Great couple. This also had some pretty exciting drama with the ex stalking Skylar and his very, rich family trying to bail him out. Things escalated pretty quickly which made for a fast paced read. I loved how all the guys banded together, and the women too. There is still several single men in this tight group so I expect more to come in this series.

Sheriff Danny Oldman goes through his days working hard at his job, and spends his nights lonely and alone.
Skylar Long has been trying desperately to escape to abusive, connected boyfriend, unsuccessfully until her last attempt brings her to her home town.
Danny remembers her and make sit his mission to protect her. Being back in her home town among friends, not only brings back feelings, but also gives her the strength she needs to fight back.
Ms. Grant writes a powerful story chronicling how difficult it is for many abused women to escape. This tale contains angst, powerful people, good friends, humor, loving families and a few sensual scenes ending with a happy ever after. If you love protective alpha cowboys, add this to your TBR list.
I requested and received a NetGalley Arc to peruse, and offer my opinion freely.

This book was an easy, fast paced palate cleanser of a read. It would not take a lot of effort to pick apart all of the things I did not love about it (cardboard cutout main characters, a romance that comes about almost instantly and is weirdly timed for the heroine , a rushed ending, etc) but the fact remains that I was entertained and interested enough to want to see how this story turned out. Easily read as a stand alone, this book might not be one I would read again but I enjoyed the time I spent with it.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It is not within my being to understand the need to beat on another person. So I normally avoid books that have abuse as the story line. Yes, this is a second chance romance but it doesn't ring true to me that she would even consider jumping back into a relationship while still running from an abuser. From the standpoint of Danny, he has created a world for himself that we can envy. He has his dream job and an amazing circle of friends. Now he has a chance to realize a relationship with his high school crush. But as a sheriff shouldn't he have better sense?
I actually liked the book but saw no touch with my reality so couldn't relate at all.

I received this ARC for an honest review. Donna Grant is a first for me author. This story is about Danny is the elected sheriff who works long hours and in short lonely. One late night after he picked up dinner, he drove to the rest station to eat, and he observed another car pull in. He really didn’t pay attention until another car pulled in right beside the first car, and a man got out and started threading the first car. In the first car is Skylar, she is trying to escape an abusive relationship. The man from the second car, Matt, is so angry and focus on Skylar he didn’t notice Sheriff Danny a few parking spots down. Matt breaks the window trying to get to Skylar. That’s when Danny calls for backup and stops Matt. We come to find out that Danny and Skylar were high school friends. Much more happens, but you have to read it for yourself.
Donna Grant did a good job showing how people get stuck in an abusive relationship and how hard it is to get out. Some parts were predictable, but I did enjoy the story.

I’ve read other books in the series and I liked this one better than the others. However, there were moments where i felt like Skylar played the airhead when it was unnecessary. I imagine there are moments in this book that would be a trigger for someone who’s dealt with an
abusive relationship in the past, but I do think it added to the story - especially the fact that the story didn’t get resolved quickly or easily. Overall a good but not great book.

Texas sheriff Danny Oldman devotes all his time and energy to his job. He has no time or inclination for a relationship despite his friends’ concern about Danny’s one dimensional life. When the girl that got away comes back to town in trouble, Danny’s old feelings and some new ones stir up again.
Sklar Long lit out of her Podunk town as fast as she could going to college and a career in Houston. On the fly from an abusive boyfriend, Sklar runs right into Danny who saves her from a potentially deadly situation. Her stalking creeper ex-boyfriend, Matt, is not about to let Skylar escape his sociopathic clutches. Danny has some wealthy and powerful friends helping to protect Sklar while they try to get evidence to prosecute the black sheep son of a Texas royalty family, the Gaudets.
Danny and Skylar realize they want to start up a relationship but with the ex-boyfriend menacing them, that proves quite a challenge. Sklyar makes some less than intelligent choices despite the danger she is in putting herself and others as risk. For anyone who has triggers for abusive relationships or does not enjoy reading about them, this story may not be for you. This is book four in the Heart of Texas series; however, it can be read as a standalone.

This was really good. This is my first book by this author. I fell in love with sheriff Danny. Skylar was a surprise. She was so much like a airhead blond bombshell. Very well done. The secondary characters make me want to go back and read their stories. I was in edge, the bad guy was scary. I had been in an abusive relationship before and this was so real. I highly recommend this book.

Danny and Skylar's story was great, it had a lot of drama and intrigue, and a psycho ex!! It was lovely to watch these two reconnect after so many years and scary to see what extremes her ex would go through to get her back, or even just make sure if she wasn't with him she wouldn't be with anyone.

A COWBOY LIKE YOU is an engaging romantic suspense that hooked me right from the start. Danny is the sheriff of a relatively small area, but it certainly keeps him busy. He has many good friends, but is still a little lonely. When he is eating at a rest stop, he witnesses a dangerous confrontation, and interferes. It turns out to be a woman who he liked back in the day, Skylar, who is trying to get away from her abusive boyfriend.
Skylar was reeled into a romantic relationship a few months before, and when she found him physically and emotionally abusive, she tried to leave. Luckily, with Danny's help, she is able to stay with his friends in a secure location while filing for a protective order and allowing the DA to press charges.
However, it turns out that Matt, the abuser, is from one of the wealthiest families in Texas, and they are not going to allow this to happen. Matt himself is unwilling to let Skylar go. As Danny works to uphold the law and protect Skylar, they have a dangerous journey ahead of them.
This book works well as a stand-alone and is great for fans of romantic suspense, cowboy stories, and/or second chance romance. The pacing was perfect between the building relationship of Danny and Skylar and the thriller-feel of the suspense as they deal with Matt. Donna Grant is an excellent writer who can really pull the reader into the story, and this is a great example.
Please note that I received an ARC. All opinions are my own.

Huge thank you to the publisher for sending me this in exchange for my honest review!
As soon as this was on my kindle, I screamed, and then read it immediately and it was wonderful. I also want to take a moment to appreciate that COVER!! The colors and that MAN! *swoon* I just love cowboys okay.
I actually haven’t read much from this author previously but it in no way affected my overall enjoyment of the stories; instead it made me want to read the other books in the series! I really love a protective hero and seeing how protective Danny was of Skylar just made me squeal into my pillow. I love a second chance romance especially one that goes back to high school! It’s just so sweet!!
I thought the suspense element was really great too and it made this book fly by for me. It was addicting to see what was going to happen and how these two, despite everything, we’re going to get their happily ever after! Danny and Skylar were just perfect for each other! I loved how their relationship had a strong sense of friendship. Not only do these two fall in love with who the other grew up to be, they fall in LIKE as well and it’s so refreshing to read!
Definitely be sure to pick this up if you’re in the mood for a suspense and heartwarming romance! I’m excited to read more from Donna Grant!

A fast paced and entertaining read.
The story of Sheriff Danny and Skylar. He had a crush on her in school, and now she is back in town, unfortunately pursued by her violent ex who is out to get her. Will they have a chance at being together?

I really enjoyed this story and it is definitely one I would recommend!
From the start to finish it was a great story that was fast paced and I thought it was a really good read.
The storyline was really enjoyable and I thought that the author had done a brilliant job with the plot as there was something happening all the time and in each chapter.
I thought that the characters were very strong and believable, anyone who follows my reviews will know I am a massive fan of this author's books and this is another excellent release from her.
It is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended!!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Another great book by an awesome author. Highly recommend to everyone.

I would do a full 5 stars except for the use of the f-bomb and the explicit sex scenes. Another milder 4 letter word could have easily been used and the sex scenes could have been left to the imagination.
A great storyline and sweet romance in which one can only begin to imagine being in such an abusive relationship. We know abuse like this happens and what she describes is probably accurate information of how victims feel and the torment they endure.
Fast paced quick read, but as noted, could be better with the omission of the explicit sex and language. I am not a prude, but those did nothing to enhance the story.
I received this book as a complimentary copy for an unbiased review. The opinions expressed are my own.

A lot of people will love this book, but I didn't. It had a good story line but I don't read books that authors think they have to use the F word to get attention. This was a new to me author, so I know not to get any more of her books. Thank you St. Martin's Press via NetGalley for the copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

"A Cowboy Like You" by Donna Grant was a very good read. It was a fast-paced story with suspense and romance. I loved the interaction between Danny and Skylar, as well as the drama Skylar brought into Danny and his friends' lives. I thoroughly enjoy a book that keeps me turning the pages (even keeping me reading into the night) and this book did just that. If you like a book that has both romance and a storyline that keeps you riveted to its pages, then this is a book that you will truly enjoy. (I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.)

A Cowboy Like You is a wonderful romantic book with a great storyline.
Danny the Sheriff of Lone Star has a hectic but lonely life, not having settled down with anyone he’s home alone most night with a bottle of bourbon for company.
Into his life comes Skylar, previously his childhood crush, she left Lone Star for the bright lights of Houston but has now returned to escape an extremely abusive and violent relationship. Her ex is not going to let her go, determined if he can’t have her no one else will.
As Danny fights to protect her their relationship grows both passionately and lovingly, meanwhile the ex is going all out to harm those close to Skylar and plotting to get his hands back on her.
I’m not writing more about this plot it’s too good to give away! all I will say is it’s a cracker of a story with a very satisfying finale.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

I finished this book and I enjoyed the first half however it became way to unrealistic for me to picture. I thought it was just over the top and not for me.
