I do enjoy reading this author other than paranormal because she seems to have that gift to take us away into where ever she wants to take us. In here we meet up with Danny whom is also Lone Star Sheriff that can arrest us anytime he wants. We also get to know what drove Skylar back home with seeing the sparks start to sizzle once again. Drama will do its deed escalating as we become more into this. Put in some suspense and couple it with second chance that this one had me staying in this place until I seen who is left.

Danny is the Sheriff of a small Texas town lonely and going nowhere. His life is about to change for the better when high school crush Skylar comes back into his life.
Skylar is on the run from an abusive relationship. This mans family has money and power and he is not going to play fair. There will be plenty of heart stopping moments as Danny and Skylar must fight for their lives and new love.
I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my! I do love a good second chance romance and this one has it all, good romance, good suspense, great chemistry, and all the feels you can handle. Danny is the sheriff and called in to help a damsel in distress and is amazed when it turns out to be Skylar, his high school love who left him behind. She is being abused and stalked by her ex but Danny gives her shelter and provides protection. So. so good with an excellent backstory. Definitely kept me turning the pages deep into the night.

I liked this cowboy read. Danny is the sheriff and married to his job but his high school crush still holds his heart. Skylar thought she met Mr. Right but she was very wrong and decides to head back home. When Danny and Skylar see each other sparks fly but will her ex let her go? Fast-paced read with great chemistry and story with plenty of drama and very sweet. I liked it.

Enjoyed the chemistry between Danny and Skylar. Loved the suspense with the abusive ex on the loose. Skylar is trying to get free from Matt (the ex), but he’s from an influential family, so he thinks he’s untouchable. Danny had a crush on Skylar in high school, but never pursued it because she was on the path to leave town. Now, she’s back and he’ll do anything he can to keep her safe. Love that there’s more time spent on the ranch compound with many of the characters from the past books. Danny and Skylar are really good for each other; super sweet. Some hot moments too! Good action and entertaining story. I do wish there was more to the ending and Matt got off too easy in my opinion. Love a good cowboy romance! Looking forward to more books in this series!

I love the covers of this series. They make me want to get in them and have a cowboy to call mine.
Danny and Skylar are that typical teenage couple who have crush, but no one is brave enough to make the first move, and when the courage comes, the opportunity has passed. And that made Danny heartbroken.
Years later, Danny's crush returns to town, and now she has serious problems when her ex decides never to stop bothering/stalking her.
Now is the time for Sheriff Danny Oldman to take action, just like the boy/man in love he always was, and this time he won't let Skylar get away.
4 stars

This book definitely had some suspense in it as well as romance. It is a second chance trope. Be warned: physical and mental abuse, stalking.
I loved the character of Danny. He was a strong alpha, but very protective and caring. He was the Sheriff of the small town and pretty much a loner. Then Skylar returns to town in trouble and Danny is there to protect her. Skylar had been in an abusive relationship, but is finally fleeing it. Go girl!
Skylar came into her own in the story and became stronger even though she was facing a lot of danger.
The one thing that bothered me about the story was how quickly Skylar and Danny fell back into a relationship. Even though they had a past, I just couldn't buy that she would be ready to jump right into another man's arms after what she had been through. Other than that, the story was very good and kept me turning the pages to see what was going to happen next.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

A Cowboy Like You pretty much falls in line with the rest of the Heart of Texas series in terms of my feelings about the book. The story has some things I like and some I don't, landing me somewhere in the middle. The suspense is pretty good, and domestic violence is a serious topic when the main focus is supposed to be a romance. And that's where I started running into problems with this one. Not the domestic violence topic, I'm all for shedding light on a subject that was only whispered about for way too long. However, the romance in this one came up sorely lacking for me. I get that Skylar and Danny already knew each other, but it's not like they saw each other every day either. There should have been some getting to know each other time before they were madly in love. And speaking from experience, Skylar should not have been so willing to trust, especially while everything was still going on. The love story here just didn't ring true. The ending felt a bit rushed also, but when you consider the romance, it fits. In the end, this one was just okay for me.

I absolutely loved this story. I found Skyler and Danny to be a great match. This book had so much gong for it. From the drama of why Skyler came back to her hometown to the attraction each seemed to have never quite got over. Not to mention the suspense surrounding her ex. Danny was such a wonderful guy. The attraction and connection they had was so hot and steamy I found myself having a hard time putting this book down. I loved the HEA!

After reading the two previous books in the Heart of Texas series, I definitely wanted to read ‘A Cowboy Like You’ too. In this fourth book in the series (these books can easily be read as a standalone) we read the story of Danny Oldman, a Lone Star sheriff we read little bits about in the previous books.

Danny has been alone for a long time, and he is rather lonely. But he doesn’t want anyone to know he feels that way. Especially since he is the sheriff and has a job to do. And he really doesn’t want anyone to know he still thinks about this girl he had a crush on in high school many years ago.
This girl, Skylar has left her hometown years ago, and never looked back. But when her life got all messed up she finds herself back in the town she left all those years ago. And when she comes face to face with the handsome and caring Danny, she finds herself happy to be back.

Just as in the second book in this series, I felt like everything in this book moved very fast. And it honestly made this read a little difficult for me. One moment Skylar is on the run from her abusive boyfriend, and the next day she is making out with Danny, a guy she hasn’t seen in years. I just felt like it didn’t really fitted the story. I mean, most times someone who is in an abusive relationship needs a little break after that. But Skylar seems to fall in love again rather fast. Which isn’t impossible I guess, but it just didn’t really work for me.

The romance between Danny and Skylar was still pretty sweet, if I made myself forget about how fast things moved. I liked how Danny took care of Skylar, and the way they connected with each other after all these years. But there fast moving relationship was definitely a little strange if you ask me. I mean, on the run from an abusive relationship and the next day your kissing another guy. That just doesn’t sound right to me.

The suspense was definitely the best part about this read I think. It kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to read more and more. And it was also pretty fun to read little bits about the characters I read about in the previous books.

Overall, this book wasn’t really for me. But the suspense and the romance made up for it so it was still a 3 star read I think.

I don't know, there was something off about this story. I love books by Donna Grant but there was something missing from this story that I liked about the others. It was an ok story but not one of my faves.

This romantic suspense book was full of sexy, ex-military cowboys, strong women, and cute sheriffs. It was an action packed, fast moving story about abuse and taking a stand against abuse and being a victim of the abuser. I really liked Skyler and how she finally was wiling to try and stop the abuse from her wealthy, controlling boyfriend. The author showed how hard it can be to break away from an abusive relationship and also how willing Skyler was to do so to spend the rest of her life with an old high school friend.

It was also interesting to see how Matt, the abuser was from a wealthy family and felt entitled and how he did not care what he did. He truly believed he owned Skyler. It was also scary to realize how his parents had through their actions just encouraged him even more. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

This is Book 4 in the Heart of Texas series. I really enjoyed reading this book. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone book. It’s also a 2nd chance romance. Skylar left home after graduation but now she’s back. She’s trying to hide from an abusive ex-boyfriend, but he finds her. That’s when Sheriff Danny steps up to the plate. He’s always had a crush on her and hated it when she moved away. I have to say that the interactions with these two are fantastic. You just want to be part of the book so that you can be friends with Skylar and help her. There’s a lot of things happening that keep you on the edge of your seat as you read. I love this series by the author, and it keeps getting better with each book. I have to say that I think this one was my favorite of the series so far. It just pulls you into the story and makes you think you are right there. I highly recommend it along with the first books in the series. I voluntarily read and reviewed this story that I got from Netgalley.

the latest in the heart of texas series, is a sweet second-chance-at-love romance for the local sheriff, danny oldman. normally, second chance stories are not my faves, but here danny and skylar never actually had a relationship go bad. it was more a they liked each other but neither ever made a move.

in a cowboy like you once danny realizes who's life he is saving in an isolated rest stop, it's like there's no holding back all the feelings. both skylar and danny try because the timing is terrible and skylar's insane, abusive ex is making their lives difficult. but when you know, you know.

and both skylar and danny have wasted too much time on terrible relationships and being alone to know what it is they really want. and it's each other. all the familiar faces make an appearance here, as the east and harpers take care of their own. and at this point danny is one of the family. you can see how this series will continue, as the cast of alpha males with heart of gold characters only continues to grow. it's no hardship to be back on this ranch with these cowboys and their women.

I loved this twist on a second chance romance. Danny and Skylar went to school together and both admired each other from afar but never acted on it. Now, 20 years later, Skylar finds herself in an abusive relationship with Matt and her escape plan crosses paths with Danny, the sheriff. Danny is shocked when he rescues Skylar from a crazy situation but something inside his lonely heart wakes up. As Danny works to help Skylar extract herself from her insane ex-boyfriend, they find that those long ago feelings are still strong for both of them. Dealing with Matt becomes an intense drama-filled journey for them both which kept me turning the pages. I truly appreciate how this domestic violence story was handled letting us have all three viewpoints along the way. The strong community and family Danny has around him is a wonderful addition as they embrace Skylar and lend her the support needed as she finds her way through these challenges. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

I will say this book did not disappoint at all but the book is super intense as it does deal with Domestic Violence and has you on the edge of your seat almost the whole book. I had a hard time putting this book down. You know who the bad guy is from the beginning but the author keeps you guessing on what is going to happen next and where the story is headed. The author did not sugar coat anything in this story. There is strong language and sex throughout the book so may not be suitable for all readers. This book was really good and completely worth the read. I also loved the "family" aspect of this story and how Danny surround himself with some great people who were not only friends but family and when Danny tried to withdrawal into himself they would set up and draw him back to the flock. Seriously this book will not let you down.

Danny works hard at his job. It's difficult being the sheriff. While eating his dinner at a rest area, he rescues an abused woman from her violent boyfriend. Danny is dedicated professional. He follows the letter of the law. I wish that he didn't feel so isolated. It's ironic that the woman he rescues is his old high school crush. Skylar is beautiful, funny and intelligent. How did she find herself in this situation? I sympathized with her. I was glad that she had the courage to leave. It's too bad that the controlling monster won't let her go. I feel strongly about domestic violence. I wanted justice served. I didn't want Skylar's abuser to avoid punishment because he and his family were well known and wealthy. I hated that the victim was vilified by the press. Donna Grant wrote an exciting and emotional story. The romance that developed between Danny and Skylar was special. They made a perfect couple. Also, I enjoyed seeing all the familiar characters. This story pulled me in. I enjoyed the setting and the intense story. A Cowboy Like You is a great addition to the Heart of Texas series.

Danny Oldman gives everything he has to his job as a Texas sheriff. That is until his past high school crush returns to her hometown to escape her abusive boyfriend who refuses to let her go and figures he has the money to do as he wishes. This second chance story has just enough suspense and drama to keep you on your toes, and then ends with a HEA. I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love Danny! He is such an awesome person and sheriff. I really liked the story line. I think it could help people as both women and men go through this all the time. This may help them to actual reach out for help. There is a great romance that happens between Danny and Skylar. A long lost love that is back again. You can read this as a stand alone but all the books in this series are awesome and I recommend all of them. I cried at the beginning of this book cause I felt so much for Danny. I can't wait for the next book.

A Cowboy Like You is the 4th book in Grant’s Heart of Texas series and complements the other books in the series well. It has the same small town welcoming feel as the previous books in the series and is full of heartwarming characters, friends/family, drama, suspense, a touch of danger, and a sweet second chance romance in the middle of it all. It is a well-written, engaging story from start to finish and once you begin reading it is hard not to get wrapped up in the emotions and drama in the storyline, it really draws you in.

Danny and Skyler are wonderfully written characters and I love that we get to catch up with the other characters in the series as well as enjoy their jovial banter and kinship; you can feel the love and concern these guys have for each other flowing through the pages. This book is a wonderful second chance love story with a sweet, well-deserved HEA. A great addition to the series.
