OMG!OMG!OMG! I’m not a religious person but any example masterpiece writing is a quite definition of finding the real miracle in the earth for me. And this book is impeccable, detailed, surprising, mind-blowing, so smartly written.

I wish I had a chance to clone this author’s special gift and brain cells and have them transplanted into my miserable head!

This mean genius author literally plays an unfair game with your mind. It’s impossible to win against him because he is too intelligent. I fooled too many times during my reading and the spider senses I am proud of were totally useless. The structure and the way of telling story is so unique. Nothing as it seems so prepare to be an April’s fools’woman like me because till the end of the book, twists will keep coming, slap you across the face, tickle you from your stomach and make you lose the rest of your full functioning grey cells. At the end, you’re asking yourself, “who am I, what I am doing here, which year we are in?” and checking yourself several times to make sure you’re okay!

And of course the characterization is excellent. The story is narrated by two different women. One of them is THE WIDOW a.k.a Kate, stay-at-home mother, taking her daughter to the airport to surprise her husband. But lately she finds out her husband was never in that plane and he wasn’t also in London for business trip. He is missing right now. And you may guess what happened to him from Kate’s nickname, right?

And other POV comes from Abby, a.k.a “THE WIFE”,working in the market as cashier, has one daughter and son, having a happy marriage, till one day she learns from her bestie police officer tells her somebody is brutally killed at the docks (that’s normally gay people’s secret meeting spot so this could be a brutal hate crime) but Abby’s obsession about true crime stories pushes her to conduct her own investigation because she feels like her husband is lying to her from the beginning.

You got the picture but now my mouth is zipped. And you shouldn’t think you got the whole story from my short summary. In the beginning you think those poor women married with the same man (Actually I did!) But... Nope, with my hand I close my mouth and I continue my clicking with only five fingers (So challenging job but at least I’m not blurting out the secret details of the book! So you gotta thank me!)

Mark my words friends, there is nothing as it seems! Give your full concentration not to get fooled! But this book deserves your full attention but it truly worth it! Because it is one of the best thrillers I’ve read!

And of course ending is epic, twisty, surprising! The author is so detailed oriented and every piece of puzzle he created are so crucial. You gotta gather the pieces together carefully and gently.

Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/ Minotaur Books to share this amazing ARC COPY with me in exchange my honest review. And so much special thanks to Christian White to create this fantastic, witty, unique, original work.

I received an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review

I really didn’t expect where this book was going. I had worried the second novel would not live up to the author’s first but in fact I would say it exceeded expectations. A slow burn at first but you have to stick with it to get to the goods. Can’t recommend it enough

Thank you to Net Galley and St. Martin's Press for an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. I love a good thriller, but sometimes the "formula" can get old. This book sets a new bar for an interesting plot and the manner in which it was written. I literally had to go back through, rethink things I'd read and realized I could've seen the trail to the answers, but because I was lulled into expectations, I'd missed them. Highly recommend this one.

I found this book hard to relate to. I think the context of the setting and the unsympathetic characters just didn’t grab me. There were many twists but on the whole I was not engaged.

Thank you Netgalley.

I received a copy of this from Minotaur in exchange for an honest review and I loved this book. The title alone is very intriguing and the back cover makes you feel almost as if the wife and the widow are with the same person. It was a crazy story. I love thrillers and figured this would be predictable, BUT IT WAS NOT! This had a crazy, unconventional spin to it and it was amazing. The author did such an awesome job with this one! I love how the story is written from two different views: the wife and the widow. You honestly won’t be able to see the ending necessarily coming. The author builds up and adds important details as needed. I think it took me 2 days to read this. I was so captivated.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC.
Wow, this was a great book! It has a mind bending twist that had me put down the book to collect myself and think the story through so I could put things together in my head.
The widow, Kate, is shocked to learn she really didn't know her husband. He was supposed to be in London, but was killed on the island where they had their summer house...why was he there?
Abby, who lives on the island with her husband and two children also discovers her husband is hiding things from her and it turns her life upside down.
I liked both women, although I was a bit creeped out by Abby's hobby of taxidermy!
I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say this is one heck of a story, very clever, and one of the best I've read in a while. Terrific, highly recommended.

This is the best thriller I have read in a year! I love how the gripping plot follows 2 women’s lives as they uncover lies, secrets and deception. I could not put this book down and finished it in 48 hours! I will be talking about this book for a long time.

Thank you to NetGalley for a Kindle ARC of The Wife and the Widow.

I've never read the author's first book but I was intrigued by the premise, especially when it features two female protagonists.

Told from two female perspectives, a widow named Kate has recently learned her husband is dead and had been residing at their holiday home without her knowledge, and Abby, an island local, who discovers a terrible secret her husband has been hiding from her.

As the narrative unfolds, the timelines and the womens' present and past, will collide in a shocking conclusion and the secrets their husbands hold will finally be revealed.

The Wife and the Widow was an engrossing read, and though I wasn't a fan of Kate in the beginning, her character developed as she followed in her husband's footsteps to discover what led to his death.

Kate was shocked, but empowered by the facts she learned about her husband; her strength as a woman and mother increased as she kept pursuing her leads, holding onto the love she had for her daughter and the need to understand her husband.

Abby was a different woman, just similar to Kate; she loves her family, especially her children, fiercely, and will do anything and everything to protect them. In many ways, the women are more alike than they think.

I love the description of John's guilt; how it manifested into night terrors and hallucinations he could never escape from. It added a thrilling, almost supernatural element to the story, almost Edgar Allan Poe-like, reminding readers that sometimes getting away with murder isn't always a good thing.

The twist was a good one, though I had guessed correctly before it was revealed, and the ending was satisfying.

This was a good read and I highly recommend it.

Oh my gosh, I simply loved this book. What a twist at the end of the story, did not see it coming. I am recommending this to people who are getting bored reading the same old story. I could not wait to get home to read this every night. This is a great written book. I cannot wait to see what else this author will write. Great read!!!! 10 out of 10!

The setting of a book can make or break a story, and White’s choice of a sparsely populate island in winter is so effective in creating tension, it’s almost a third character. Kate has had a hard enough time dealing with the death of her husband, when she discovers he’s been leading an entirely separate life. She and islander Abby, have much in common; it would seem Abby’s husband is also a liar. Together they hope to find comfort, but instead they uncover a truth so shocking that they (along with readers) are left gasping. As twisty as it is twisted, this is a book you won’t be able to put down
