Sensitive and Strong by Denise J. Hughes and Cheri Gregory is an important book. The authors deal with such an important topic. I've never seen a book like this in Christian circles and I'm so glad these authors got together and wrote it. It is an important book for everyone-- both highly sensitive people and those around them. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

I've often seen my sensitivity as something to be overcome, but this book really changed my perspective by leading me to see it as an asset and a strength, even a gift.

I thought this book would help my daughter, who I suspected was an HSP - Highly Sensitive Person - and, as she is reading it now, it is very helpful to her. However, my surprise was finding out that I, myself, also lean heavily toward HSP traits. Who knew?? Reading this book was eye-opening and transformative. I learned more about why I am the way I am than any personality test I have ever taken. This makes perfect sense because HSP is not a simple personality trait - it is a genetic and biological aspect of humanity in which 20% of the population experience a higher degree of sensitivity in response to stimuli. The authors are both HSP's themselves, although one is an extrovert and one an introvert. They both give us detailed peeks into their lives as an HSP, which is extremely helpful in thinking about our own lives, as well as the people we love who are also HSPs. They present HSPs as normal, complete, and created by God just the way we are. We are encouraged to examine who we really are by looking inside ourselves to discover our strengths and weaknesses, looking up to our Creator for reassurance and acceptance, and looking out to others to determine how we can use our unique sensitivity to impact and help those around us. I encourage all of us to read this book, because even if we are not an HSP ourselves, chances are we love someone who is.

"Sensitive and Strong" is a well-researched book authored by two researchers on the topic of Highly Sensitive People (HSP). If you are an HSP, or love someone who is an HSP, this is the book for you! While I found the research compelling, I am not an HSP and so the book was not an exciting read for me. However, it could be a good resource for someone who is interested in this topic.

I've often been referred to as a sensitive person - and was introduced to the concept of being a highly sensitive person several years ago. This book from a Christian perspective helped me to see how being sensitive can actually be an asset to leadership, reaching out and relationships - when harnessed appropriately. This was an encouraging and challenging read - and while it may not appeal to everyone, it definitely appealed to me!

This is a wonderful book that explains how a Highly Sensitive Person is not weak but strong. This is a book everybody needs to read. People are always making snide remarks about sensitive people, they need to read this book and see how strong they really are. Thank you to the authors for being so open and honest about their lives and feelings. Outstanding book!! Thank you Harvest House Publishers via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

Wonderful and enlight Insight into personality and characteristics of the Highly Sensitive Peson !
I have thoroughly enjoyed and learned so much from this engaging read.
Dispels the myth that is still perpetuated that HSP’s are somehow ‘weak and lacking’. Not at all !
Strength and resiliency are two of their most important but sadly often overlooked traits.
Highly recommend this book to not only HSP’s, but also those who know and are in community with them.

HSP is looked at in a whole new light with stories and insight. In a world where sensitivity is seen as weakness this is a great book for mentors and for reminding that being sensitive isn't always a bad thing.
