A Drop of Midnight is a raw and moving memoir. It's an incredibly moving story intertwining racial identity, family systems, class and the power of music. Diakite's voice is distinctive and engaging.

Very interesting memoir of a black Swedish rapper. It was interesting to see such a mix of culture and how it shaped him. I love rap music so that was a draw too.

Jason Timbuktu Diakite is the child of a black man and a white woman. Born in Sweden, he tries to discover his past, his roots in America.

I think what struck me most was his relationship with his parents and their history. To know yourself, you must know where you came from and where your parents came from. This was a beautiful composition and ode to his family.

This book reads like a conversation between two well known friends. Frank and intimate it shows the struggle of discovering who you are and how it shakes your life. I enjoyed reading it very much and highly recommend it. Happy reading!
