This book definitely improved on the first one in the series! I pre-ordered the 3rd after reading this one.

This was a fun cozy mystery to read. I had not read the first in the series but I don’t think that impacted my enjoyment of this book. I enjoyed the characters and look forward to reading more in this series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Ringtail Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I really loved this first book in a new to my series and author. I can't wait to read the next one. The characters and location really add to the plot. This book keeps you guessing until the end.

Pawsitively Cursed was a quick read perfect for October. If you're a fan of cozy mysteries and witches, you will probably enjoy this one. This is the second book in the series and reads well as a standalone. I did not read the first and didn't often feel like I was missing much, aside from a few references of the apparent main mystery in the first. But again, it did not detract from this story.

That said, I also didn't love it enough to go back or continue the series. It was a fun story for Halloween that was wrapped up nicely and didn't leave a cliffhanger that has me wanting more.

Paranormal cozy about Amber Blackridge, the witch of Edgehill, her family and her search for the truth about the death of her parents. Amber has always believed that dating a non-witch could lead to trouble, but that trouble is nothing compared to the cursed witch that is coming after her and something that belongs to her. Very enjoyable with an awesome, page turning finish.

I started wishing for this book the minute I finished Pawsitively Poisonous. That story was interesting. I loved the characters, and the mystery kept me guessing. But I really wanted to know more about Amber's past. I couldn't' wait to meet her sister. And I was dying to know what happened to her parents. Ms Jackson did such a good job building anticipation for Cursed I could hardly wait to get my hands on it.

And it did not disappoint. Pawsitively Cursed drew me right in, and did not let me go till I had finished. Poisonous was a fun read. But this one felt like a quantum step forward. More intense, edgier with a lot more suspense. I loved every minute of it and look forward to a lot more Edgehill. 12 or 15? books aught to do.

A ridiculously good follow-up to Pawsitively Poisoned. Love, love, love Melissa Erin Jackson's work. Cannot say enough good things or recommend to enough people.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. From witches to shapeshifters, book two is a literary dream for cozy paranormal newbies.
I really need book 3!

The second entry in the Witch of Edgehill series is much darker than the (surprisingly) lighthearted Pawsitively Poisonous. A quick easy read with never a dull moment. Needed more catisms.

Recommended for: a decent commuting read.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC.

Title: Pawsitively Cursed
Author: Melissa Erin Jackson

Initial thoughts
When I saw this title on NetGalley I immediately requested it because I loved the previous book and Jackson’s other book too. And I really really really love books about witches.

Description
Amber Blackwood is Edgehill’s resident witch. Her parents died 14 years ago in a fire. The whole town knows about the tragedy, but the details remain a mysterie. Amber owns a little shop called The Quirky Whisker, and from there she can see the remains of their old house every day. Although Amber has a good life now, she feels stuck in the past. She needs to know what happened to her parents and she will do everything in her power - power she had no idea she possesses - to find out. She suspect the fire was set deliberately by a witch from the cursed Penhallow clan, from whom no one had heard ever since Amber’s parents deaths,
One night, just out of the blue, her Aunt Gretchen shows up and claims that a Penhallow is after her.

Characters
The characters are well-written, not just Amber but the supporting ones too.
Amber is getting shaped by her adventures in the previous book and her adventures in this one. She experiances some real tough things, finds out stuff about her parents that changes her fundamentally.
She even has a love interest and I hope that line will continue in spite of the ending.

World-building
I’m a dog person but I loved all the cat-themed shop and street names.

All in all Pawsitively Cursed is a fine continuation of the previous book. It has everything I seek in a book: suspense, excitement, interesting characters, good pacing and supernatural elements.

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. Thank you! This book is highly recommended, I will read the next one too.

Pawsitively Cursed is the second Witch of Edgehill Mystery by Melissa Erin Jackson. While this mystery is unrelated to the first and can stand up well on its ow, from a character and world building standpoint I recommend reading this series in order for the fullest enjoyment.

For the past fourteen years Amber Blackwood, has been haunted by her parents’ deaths. The whole town knows about the tragedy, but the details remain a mystery even to Amber. From her tiny studio apartment above her shop, The Quirky Whisker, Amber can see her partially rebuilt old house out on the edge of town. Although she now has a good life—delighting children with her magically infused toys, concocting healing tinctures for Edgehill’s residents, doting on her cats, Tom and Alley, and sitting on the committee for the town’s annual Here and Meow Festival—she feels stuck in the past. Amber suspects the fire that killed her parents was set deliberately by a witch from the cursed Penhallow clan, from whom no one has heard even a whisper since the night her parents died. The clan’s sudden disappearance is no coincidence to Amber, but her aunt Gretchen refuses to believe there’s a connection and urges Amber to stop looking for someone to blame. So Amber is shocked when Aunt Gretchen shows up unexpectedly, claiming the Penhallows have resurfaced and that one of them is heading for Edgehill with Amber in his sights. Aunt Gretchen knows more about the fabled clan than she’s letting on. Amber is determined to find out what her aunt is hiding, and what the Penhallow seeks, before the same treacherous force that took Amber’s parents’ lives claims her own.

Pawsitively Cursed is a wonderful continuation of Amber's story. This book is just as much about Amber's growth and fears as it is the actual mystery. She has insecurities, worries, and doubts that everyone can relate to on some level- and then there is the added worry about magic secrets that just might be the death of her and others. The unveiling of the mystery and the way her double life impacts her social life and the safety of the town was well paced and compelling. Getting to know more about Amber's past, and her remaining family was nice, and I think added a greater depth to her character. I like that wile Amber was putting herself out there and trying to date- and I enjoyed the honesty in the awkward moments- I was relieved that that part of the story never overwhelmed the mystery and magic that kept he story line moving forward. The mystery and danger aspects of the story were also well done. I was almost constantly on edge waiting for one character or another not to be who they appeared. The tension was very well maintained. I really did expect an extra twist at the end, and was fairly pleased that the epilogue went in a completely (though not unexpected) way to tease for the next book. I am very eager for that book, and will definitely be following this series onward.

Pawsitively Cursed is even better than the first book in the series, and I am eager to see where the story, and its characters, go from here.

Welcome to Edgehill! The cat-themed town has many things to offer. A junior fashion show? Check! Shops with cat-related names, ie The Quirky Whisker, Purrcolated, The Catty Melt? Check! A descendant from a line of cursed witches out for vengeance and a spell that could change history? Check!

Only weeks since her best friend was murdered and the local police chief caught her doing magic, Amber Blackwood’s life is set spinning once again. This time one of the Penhallows, a curse line of witches, is out for her blood. The problem with cursed magic is it works opposite of a normal spell and leaves a sticky trail once used. Also, a Penhallow can mimic the appearance and voice of anyone they choose. When another murder occurs with what Amber assumes is a Penhallow signature, living in Edgehill becomes deadly.

Jackson’s journey into the world of Edgehill is slightly different than in the first installment of the series, Pawsitively Poisonous. While the first story was a who done it, this story is about imminent danger. While Amber, along with her sister, Willow, and aunt, Gretchen, try to stay alive and fight a force that can come in any form, they also have to deal with each other and the past misdeeds of the family.

I love how Jackson grows Amber, not only as an adult, but as a witch as well. We see a different side of her in this novel. While she is still grieving her best friend, she does step out to have some fun and a budding romance. Love and friendship can’t save the Blackwood sisters, only a look into the past of their parents shows them the way to save their future. After the tremendous leaps Amber makes with her powers in this story, I can’t wait to see what she will do next in the third installment of this fascinating series, Pawsitively Secretive!

I received Pawsitively Cursed for free. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I received a free copy from Netgalley for an honest review.

This is the second book in the series, and the second I’ve read. However, this book is decidedly darker than the last and more personal for Amber. We have the dreaded Penhallows coming to town, and have to solve two murders; one recent and one decades old in order to save the day.
There’s an attempt at love for our witch in this book, and a nice twist at the end (which I won’t go into detail about) but that looks like it will set up for a pretty interesting book 3. I’d like to see her happy, or starting to date in the next one, but I’m feeling pretty good about where she is at the end of this one.
Also- I’m really interested in seeing just how talented she really is.....

Pawsitively Cursed by Melissa Erin Jackson is the second book in the Witch of Edgehill series, I had read and enjoyed the first in series as a perfect paranormal cozy and this second in series is highly enjoyable. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. .My review opinion is my own. This is a delightful series and the "Purrfect Cozy Mystery". for cat lovers and those who enjoy the paranormal .

We return to the charming fictional town of Edgehill, Oregon where witch Amber Blackwood is considered reclusive. She runs a shop called the "Quirky Whisker" that sells enchanted toys so her shop is very popular in town . She likes her upstairs apartment that she shares with her beloved cats. She is still grieving the loss of her parents several years ago who were killed in a fire. Amber has always believed that they were killed by another witch from a cursed coven called the Penhallow . When her Aunt Gretchen and her sister Willow come to town to stay to assist Amber with a local feline themed fashion event, they bring with them secrets and a need to protect Amber as they now believe the same witches that killed her parents are after Amber. Amber has a contentious relationship with her Aunt and her sister and is not happy to see them or be involved in any further news of secrets or her being in danger. As the suspense builds and a murder occurs Amber finds out that her future may be tied to a mystery surrounding the death of her parents, the new murder and old curses that she must solve.

I loved this book ! This is pure catnip to cat lovers. The town shops are a feline theme with names such as: Purrfectly Scrumptions, The Catty Melt, The Sippin Siamese and of course Amber's shop "The Quirky Whisker". ( I want to move here!) Even the streets Russian Blue Avenue, Catnip and Scritch Boulevards are adorably named.

The sleuth was well crafted, the paranormal wonderfully written to the story. I appreciate the author's sensitivity to grief and appreciation of how grief is everlasting. and far from a choice, grief is a expression of love . There was a love interest for Amber which had potential to grow as she slowly transitions from her immensity of grief back into testing daily life. This series has a great potential to continue for many books in the future with great charcters, a charming location and wonderful sleuths with wonderful feline additions . I cannot wait for the next in series !

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of Pawsitively Cursed by Melissa Erin Jackson. I've voluntarily read and reviewed this copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Pawsitively Cursed is the second book in the Witch of Edgehill series by Melissa Erin Jackson. I haven't read the first installment, Pawsitively Poisonous, but Pawsitively Cursed works well as a standalone.

Amber Blackwood lives in Edgehill. She has a toy shop and lives above it. Fourteen years ago Amber's parents died in a fire. Amber believes there is more to the story and thinks someone is responsible for their deaths. When a witch from the cursed Penhallow clan comes to Edgehill, it turns out he's after Amber. Together with her sister Willow and her aunt Gretchen, Amber will fight to discover the truth about what really happened to her parents and why this Penhallow witch is after her.

I really enjoyed this book. It's fun, spooky and has surprising reveals. The characters are lovable and you truly get to explore the backstory of Amber and her family. The stakes feel realistic and the mysteries make for a compelling and suspenseful story.

If you enjoy stories about witches, magic, mystery and family then I highly recommend Pawsitively Cursed. I definitely will be checking out the first and future installments of the Witch of Edgehill series by Melissa Erin Jackson.

I just love the storyline and the quirky and loveable characters. The author pulls you into the lives of these characters and you can't escape. This book filled in some answers to Amber's past and questions we never had answers to.
