Another Keto recipe book to review today, it's just gone 10 in the morning here and I'm already looking forward to dinner! The Dirty, Lazy, Keto cookbook is for those dieters who are open to artificial sweeteners and some packaged food as part of the diet and count the carbs they eat per day rather than the whole macro nutrients.

With the contents there are picture keys next to each recipe, however the explanation of those keys is not explained until page 15, far too far into the book. This should be first in my opinion. The introduction is interesting about her journey to weight loss, but also feels like an online blog post. In fact, all the chapter introductions feel like blog posts, especially when a chunk of the text is highlighted.

In the first two chapters there is a Keto food pyramid for how to spend your daily net carbs, along with an explanation on how to calculate the net carbs from a food label. There is a grocery list and includes the net carbs and is split into diary, protein, produce (fruit & veg), drinks, baking, sauces & spices, cans & jars and miscellaneous alongside a list of foods that are good to get your started such as Zoodles (courgetti) and cauliflower rice and sugar substitutes. Also included is a list of foods to avoid as they are high in carbs, There is also a list of equipment that might be needed, from containers to cooking items.

The recipes are split into:
- Breakfast
- Soups and Salads
- Snacks
- Breads, pasta and pizza
- Sides
- Main dishes
- Drinks and Desserts

The recipes comes with a small introduction, a list of ingredients though the measurements and oven temperatures are in imperial only, steps to follow, shows the net carbs, other nutritional information, servings size and preparation and cooking times. Some of the recipes come with a colour photograph.

The recipes look interesting to make for the whole family and there are certainly a few there that I would like to try, especially some of the pizza bases as they look like an interesting alternative to the traditional dough.

At the back of the book there is a glossary and a metric conversion chart for measurements, pan sizes and oven temperatures, though no Gas Mark.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.

I love this cookbook not just because I'm a self proclaimed lazy keto dieter but because it's an honest real life story from someone I can proclaim as a diet champion. That is not to say I will use every recipe or it's perfect. What I'm saying is it's open honest, refreshing and filled with solid ideas on how not too keto yourself into an anxiety attack and still successfully lose weight.

If your a die hard keto person you wont like this book so just skip it. If you want to keto for life but keep it simple real and do-able you may be in heaven with it.

I like the honest approach no judgment bend the rules approach and I've found plenty of recipes to use and/or modify to my taste.

This book is fun whitty and has tons of recipes I enjoy. Also the author is very responsive to questions and as stated in the book sent me a printable shopping list. I'm actually pretty impressed by that. I received this book for an honest review and I say if your a flexible keto dieter you should give it a try.

I tend to lean more towards clean Keto, but wanted some splurge recipes for those times you want something different but still want to stay keto. This cookbook did not hit the spot for me. There are of course a handful of recipes I would make but most of them I wouldn't. And this cookbook is really likes going after fastfood recipes for example: Tacobell Strawberry Freeze, Starbucks Eggbites, and McDonalds's Cheeseburger Soup. I have never been the biggest fan of fastfood so it just doesn't fit me.

I have the book Dirty Lazy Keto. I am excited that there is a book now to give recipes. Although I get most of my recipes from the internet. I am sure that people who want book form of recipes will be happy to use this book.

I read the whole book in one sitting. I've been toying with the idea of keto but the restrictions were a huge turn off. I love the recipes in the book. I love the fact that the author is allowing lots of veggies, Splenda, and all kinds of substitutions. I made Keto crack slaw today and it was amazing. Lots of recipes that i see myself incorporating into my diet, especially everything with cauliflower.

I am all for cookbooks like these! A strict ketogenic definitely the way to go if you have a health issue you are trying to tackle, but if you are looking to lose weight like so many other people, and such restriction causes you to fail or not ever start the low carb way of eating then Dirty, Lazy, Keto might be for you. I love that the author has personal experience to share with us and so many tasty recipes to include. The only thing that rocked my boat (and she mentioned before speaking of it that it would be controversial) is her nonchalant attitude about chemical sweeteners. Is she trading one bad thing for another? I say yes. Those fake sugars mess with your brain chemistry and I feel like there is no reason to use them when we have access to plant based sweeteners like stevia. To each their own, I suppose, but PLEASE do your research on chemical sweeteners before putting that garbage into your body. I digress, the rest of the book was phenomenal and I think that taking the pressure off of being perfect can really go a long way in helping someone get into the groove of things as they try to get healthier. I recommend this book to anyone trying to lose weight or who just likes the low carb lifestyle.

This book is written by Stefanie Laska who herself has lost 140 lbs and kept the weight off for six years using the recipes contained in this book. That is an amazing achievement and if this book can help people make a positive change towards a healthier lifestyle then this book is a winner.

Personally I don't think the Keto diet is for me, not even the 'Dirty' version 🙂. Very few of the recipes appeal to me so I just know that I would never be able to sustain it. That said we are all different and this book may work wonders for somebody else.

I received an uncorrected proof copy of this book to review so am not going to nit pick over the things that need changing as I'm sure that is all being dealt with by someone much more qualified than myself. What I will say is that a pet hate of mine is recipes with 'quirky' names. I like the title of a recipe to tell me exactly what the dish is. Stefanie is however a very witty and made this book very enjoyable to read so I will forgive her for this. She comes across as a very real person who enjoys food every bit as much as I do.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is considering following a Keto style diet. The book is very informative and Stefanie definitely knows her stuff.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advance copy of this title in exchange for an unbiased review.

I'm someone with an obsessive personality. I can't count carbs and macros because I'll become so obsessed that I just don't eat enough.

This is a great book with some amazing information. A must have for others like myself.

Fairly new to the world of Keto, I was interested in reviewing this book simply because of the title -- and I wasn't disappointed. Ms. Laska's description of her weight-loss journey that brought her to trying keto is completely relate-able; as is her views on keto. It's something I don't enjoy at all due to restrictions, but I can't deny its positive effects so far. Since this is a kindle book, I couldn't see the layout or design of the cookbook however the recipes and down-to-earth writing is something that I enjoyed. I will be using this book as a reference for sure.

Motivational, inspirational, & informative!

I have tried many of the recipes in this book and I am very pleased with how easy they are to prepare and make. They have all been delicious and a big hit with my family too.

I found the book to be very informative, simple to follow and understand! These recipes definitely will not disappoint if you're doing Keto, revisiting Keto (like myself), or thinking about it.

I also loved that the authors story was sprinkled throughout the cookbook which definitely gave me some additional encouragement that the Keto route is for me and in helping me to stay motivated throughout my journey. I am extremely eager and excited to continue on with my Keto lifestyle journey!

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Stephanie Laska, and publisher for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with the ARC. I have recently changed to Keto and I have been indulging in all the knowledge I can! I think from each new book or individual I have been learning something new!

Really enjoyed this title. My keto has gone from really strict to a more relaxed state and this book really helped clarify some stuff for me. I've knocked out several of the recipes since I downloaded this title. Loved the fettucini noodles! Silky chicken with mushrooms was another favorite. LOVED the churros! I'd been hungry for them. Great book and can't wait to add a hard copy to my library and kitchen

Some good recipes and ideas, but the most refreshing thing is that the author is quite relaxed about doing what works for you. She does not try to push you into the method 100% and advises making the recipes and lifestyle work for you. Some good pictures and a nice relaxed book.

A great addition to any low carb/keto diet. The author is very down to earth and i found her thoughts and views amusing and honest. The recipes looked delicious. I have quite a few of them bookmarked to try.

I would like to point out that this was written by an American and therefore, in the section on how to count your carbs it was geared to the US food labelling guidelines. The labels in the UK, Europe and other parts of the world are different. This could lead people to potentially underestimate their carb count. (No need to work out net carbs in the UK as the 2 sources are already separate on labels)

This is a great addition to any cookbook collection! I don't personally follow the keto diet anymore, but I love to swap out stuff to make it healthier whenever I can. This has some great recipes! The pictures are really nice! The author gives great info about the keto diet that would be good for someone new to the lifestyle. I will definitely use this cookbook many times!

I received this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

The Dirty Lazy Keto Cookbook
Stephanie Laska

Due to the popularity of the Keto diet there are many forms of Keto diet and cookbooks on the market. As we are on the diet, I have read a few and looked through the recipes provided. The Laska’s book is a new look at being Keto. It gives those on the diet who don’t adhere to the heavy duty rules a chance to lose weight without following the intense counting and purchasing of expensive additives that Keto originally came out with. It is not to say that those of us who are ‘Dirty Keto’ dieters don’t count our carbs and cut out sugar. We do. Many folks cannot afford the expensive sugar replacements preferred by many proponents of the diet. A large bag of stevia to use for baking and cooking works as well as the expensive brand. Her method of losing weight works. It is Keto, just revising it so the diet can be worked in with family meals. In our house we are both on Keto so we don’t have to plan for others eating non-Keto foods. When shopping I do just like Stephanie recommends. That is, to check the grid that lists the contents of the food on the box or package. Yes, we need to trust the label but it also means we need to understand how to read the label correctly to know the net carb count. She gives the reader hints on what to look for at the grocery, where to shop, and what to avoid.
The recipes are familiar as I have used some. There were some that I plan to try, things that I had not thought of. Most of us who crave comfort food check the internet for a Keto equivalent and how to change the recipe from what we are used to. The authors have done the work for many food choices. They provide the recipe and if necessary suggest where to find the item. Easy directions are given and in most cases a photo is provided. In the beginning a fairly complete list of Keto food categories is given. It would be worth making a copy to take shopping if you are new to the diet. I like having a convenient list to check as I am cooking and am not sure. I do have Google available in my kitchen and at times ask for carb values of a food before using it.
You may wonder if we have lost weight? It has been six months and we have both have lost a substantial amount. Yes we will continue using the diet as it is healthy, nutritious and easy to plan meals. The Dirty, Lazy Keto Cookbook by Stephanie and Bill Laska will be published by Adams Media on January 7, 2020. It is a good resource for new recipes as well as ways to plan meals without spending a fortune and yet sticking to the diet.

I was interested to read this book because to a point, I think this the way I eat but not as strict. I enjoyed the introductions and explanations and I found it encouraging without the must follow this and that.
The recipes were good and appeared easy. There were some that didn’t interest me at all and others I’d like to try.
But like everything, it’s being aware of what your eating.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy to read

I loved this book. The best advice was stick to what works for you! LOVED that the author did not go all crazy and say YOU MUST follow these recipes. NO! She was open and honest and said, hey if you like something try to make it more Keto Friendly, here is what I have found.
The book is neatly organized, has a TON of pics of food, and is easy to understand. Plus the best part, the author does not have you buy EXPENSIVE ingredients that you would only use once. These ingredients can be found in just about EVERY grocery store.
The dessert section was by far my favorite! Loved all of the recipes...most I had never heard of and can't wait to try!
BRAVO! A GREAT COOKBOOK!

This book gives great guidelines to those who are new to the Keto diet, and terminology. I’ve tried the diet in the past so that information wasn’t really new to me. I liked the variety of recipes, including breakfasts, soups, snacks, entrees, desserts and more. It’s nice having them all in one place and the shopping guide is a nice addition. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the advanced review copy.
