Jess is the CEO of Ivan Associates, the Real Estate Company her father started.

Skylar is the new finance/accounting person at IA. And she has a ton to clean up after what the previous woman, Pam, did to the company's finances. Skylar also has quite the backstory that we do eventually get to learn as the book goes on.

And, of course, the two women get closer and closer as the book progresses. Made harder by the fact that they are boss and employee.

And then Skylar figures out that someone is stealing from IA and she and Jess have to not only figure out how to repair their relationship, but, also figure out who has betrayed Jess' family.

It was a fun read. I don't always love the boss/employee stories, ut, this one really worked and the characters were all very unique which made it even more enjoyable.

I received this book via Netgalley thanks to Bold Strokes Books.

Overall Finding Sky was a nice read, but not anything spectacular. Skylar Addison is hired to be the new Finance manager of the real estate company owned by Jess Ivan. Jess's father built the business and left it to her when he passed away. She has found her niche and caters to helping the homeless in the San Francisco area. Skylar finds she is attracted to Jess, but she has decided to ignore it because she is more of a loner and not interested in love or putting her job in jeopardy by sleeping with the boss. Even though Jess is seeing someone she is drawn to Skylar. Also, she really isn't into the woman that she is seeing and can't really put her finger on why.

So there is some chemistry between the two mains, but i find that Skylar attraction to Jess is more believable. Sure, Jess likes Skylar but since she is seeing someone she has a hard time figuring things out (IMHO). Anyway, there is some light suspense in this one, but this is one time I wish the suspense could have started earlier in the book. The big reveal at the end did throw some surprises, but I needed more and thought the book would have been better than waiting to the end to really introduce the fraud instead of it being implied for half of the book. The flow of the book would have been better for me. Again, I thought this was a decent read so I will give is 3.5 stars.

I loved this book! There was something about this book that grabbed me deep down. The issues of sexual chemistry vs emotional chemistry were well played out and enhanced the sympathy level for some characters. I'm also a huge sucker for childhood trauma stories. I think that part of the storyline was especially well written. The mystery part was a real twist. Usually, I can figure out the "who done it" pretty quickly but this one had me surprised at the end. I am a real fan of this author and can't wait for her next work!

Jess Ivan heads a successful real estate development company.
Skylar Addison is a lovably quirky, yet very detailed Finance Department Manager, recently hired by Jess

Jess has an unearned reputation for loving and leaving a string of attractive women. When Skylar comes along, Jess notices her quirkiness and finds it charming, never mind that Skylar's steel-trap mind grasps all the financials that come her way.

There is something nefarious going on at the Ivan real estate company, and Skylar starts to close in on what it is and who's responsible. Meanwhile Skylar and Jess are tumbling into love. Jess sees a future with Skylar, but the path is strewn with minefields in the form of Skylar's troubled childhood. Can they navigate this path while solving the crime that has been happening right under their noses?

I really liked these characters. They complimented each other so well, and the book has a solid plot with heroes and villains.

Plenty of tropes in this one: office romance; boss - employee; rich girl – poor girl; serial dater – relationship burnt therefore relationship shy.

Jess Ivan is the owner of Ivan Associates (IA), a company started by her father. The organisation has a mission of giving back to the community and doing good – an ideal that does not completely jell with outside partners and maybe even some employees. Skylar Addison is the new accounting manager in IA, a position she’d applied for thrice before she got called for an interview. Skylar is intelligent, dedicated and thorough. While going through the invoices she discovers that something doesn’t add up and follows that to find out what.

This is a middle-of-the-road romance with a lot of focus on the mad attraction between the MCs. Jess, unfortunately, comes across as spoilt, entitled and careless. In the beginning, Jess is involved with Whitney without feeling anything for her. So essentially Jess is leading Whitney on and using her for sex. Reason enough for us to dislike her instantly. Also, she just doesn’t seem to be either supportive or appreciative of Skylar’s work and efforts. When Skylar first brings up the discrepancies, Jess doesn’t seem to take it seriously enough. In fact, towards the second half of the book, when there is a conflict between the two and Skylar is explaining things she’s uncovered, all Jess can think of is the sexual attraction she is feeling for Skylar. That is not particularly appreciative of Skylar’s efforts or respect for her work. So Jess is quite a fail as a person and an MC. While their HEA seems questionable, the fact that Skylar has a not-so-great past makes it seem like they might last. Plus Skylar shows assertiveness in strong, positive ways. So she works as a MC you can root for.

We’d quite liked Unexpected Lightening by this author and were hoping for more of the great chemistry, sex and intrigue – but this one is more a miss than a hit.

I've had stories by Cass Sellars on my TBR list for a while now, but for one reason or another they keep ending up towards the bottom of the pile. With this new release being a brand new story and not a part of her previous Lightening series, I happily nabbed this one up!

The story itself begins as a fairly ordinary boss / employee forbidden love troupe. MC Jess is the CEO of a company that her father started. MC Skylar is a new hire to the company, brought on to fix the myriad of problems that the old Finance Manager created or couldn't handle. The nice twist to the ordinary for this story comes when Skylar starts to dig into invoices that can't be matched to projects, and a light corporate espionage plot starts to unravel under everyone's nose.

Both characters are likeable and the chemistry between them is palpable, but for some reason I found myself irritated at how Jess acted towards the beginning of the story. She's a corporate CEO, but at times the way she acted felt very, very young to me and out of character for a CEO. For example, the first scene where Jess and Skylar leave work and decide to go to a bar, very early on in their interactions, and Jess immediately starts in on what should be very inappropriate subjects for a CEO to discuss with an employee that she has barely talked to previously. The POV hops within the same scene also took some getting used to for me.

All in all though, the story is a good one, and I chose to set my irritation aside and just read the book for what it was meant to be. The chemistry between the two leads made up for the weaker elements in the story that I mentioned, and I truly enjoyed this story for what it was meant to be. 3.75 stars.

Jess has everything she ever wanted she a successful business owner that she inherit from her father and using it to help people.

Skylar is just hire at Jess company as a financial advisor who oversees invoices and other interest when she stumble on something that not adding up. Skylar is determine to do a good job and move up the ladder nothing going to stand in her way.

Jess is dating a woman name Whitney that she not really that into and doesn't really know why she still friends with her ex Dino who a cop. Skylar had rough life and she afraid to let her guard down and let someone in.

When Jess and Skylar start to work together to find out was going on in her company an attraction is form that caught them off guard as their romance heats up Jess learns that trusted friend betray her in the worst way. There was some up and down between them but they work it out in the end.

I love this author her Lightning series was amazing I even reread them sometimes and this book was great also.

Happy Sighs…
Jess has a lot on her shoulders. She took over her father’s company after he dies and her biggest fear is she will somehow let him down. She’s been seeing a woman who wants way more than she is willing to give, she’s had to hire a new woman to oversee finances and her company is bleeding money and now it looks like there is some serious embezzlement going on…. The only thing she needs now is to fall for her new employee….

Jess and Sky are two intense, devoted, caring, and strong women with a high moral compasses. . They want to make a difference in the lives of others while trying to find a piece of happiness for themselves. They are lovable and relatable and you want everything to work out for them individually and as a couple. The romance is sweet and special and will leave you saying “AWWW”. This fantastic story is well written, well thought out and well worth the read! It is one of those that you will devour in no time and won’t believe any time at all has passed from the time you start to read till it’s over.

This is the first book of Ms Sellars that I have read but it won’t be the last!!

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. This was only an ok read. I frequently found myself skipping pages to just move on with the story line. It started out well and I loved the introduction to Sky and the nervous and insecure personality she first put up front. I thought the storyline with Whitney went on WAY too long. As the mystery started it was obvious from the beginning of all 3 parties that were involved and I honestly got bored. The idea was good but I could stay interested in the plot.

This has been a pretty traditional romance, without much drama, even though the synopsis may imply that there may be. But in the end there is not and the result is quite sweet and romantic. Both main characters are very nice and it is very easy to connect with them. Jess should be a more conceited person because of her status and her way of life, but she is a down to earth woman with strong views and aim for helping people. And Skylar is a seemingly shy woman, with no hidden agenda, attracted by the image of Jess and the company's project to create a home space for the homeless.

I think the two women are perfect for each other, they also see it right away, but Jess is the owner of the company in which Skylar goes to work as an accountant and that is a complication. Although it is not insurmountable. With the excuse of reviewing the state of the company's accounts and investigating something that Skylar does not see clearly in them, the two women begin to spend time together and discover their compatibility in addition to their physical attraction.

There is a certain age gap between them, there is also the issue that they are boss and employed and that they are of very different status, but in the end all this does not matter. The result has been very good for me, it has been the kind of romance I enjoy.

This was an easy read, and pretty enjoyable. Yes, Jess seemed like she fell in love pretty quickly, but it was sweet. I particularly enjoyed the friendship between Jess and Sky before anything happened. It kept me interested in turning the page, so I could get to the sexy stuff!

It wasn't such a big deal about the boss and employee relationship, because Jess' company didn't seem so big that it would have a publicity problem like most books hint at. It just seemed more like it's not the best case scenario, rather than a complete no-no.

I didn't give it 5 stars because I wish the business part of the story (spoiler) had more of a resolution. I was missing a confrontation between Jess and a certain someone that I wish we had seen. It seemed weird that we didn't.

Overall, a nice read.

When I was looking at the latest offerings from BSB available for review, I noted that most of the covers had some variation of white, trim women gracing them. I'm not a fan of actual people on covers, particularly when I can see that it's going to be another book featuring white women. So I went for Finding Sky first. Not saying I didn't nab others but this is the one I decided on first. Also, this book features romantic relationships between white women...

Okay, on to the story! Being a workplace romance, I expected that once things got rolling, there would be only a quick mention of what a bad idea it is to sleep with the boss. How pleased was I when it was brought up several times and with good examples of why it's a bad idea? Very! I liked Jess and didn't think she'd be an asshole if a relationship didn't work out but still. It felt more believable that Skylar was seriously concerned about her future. I liked her more for that.

This book wasn't just about love and figuring out how to have a relationship with the owner of the company. There's a little mystery happening, too. I say little because it was glaringly obvious who was doing the bad thing. I will admit, though, that there's a twist in there that I didn't see coming and laughed out loud at the reveal because I had been gotten. Good job on the author!

This is my first book by Cass Sellars but I would absolutely read another.

Oh, so you're probably wondering why I only gave this three stars if I had a pretty good time reading it. Well, I would rate this one 3.5 and I normally would have rounded up to a 4 except for the POV switching back and forth several times within a scene. It's one of the things that will yank me out of a story and I dislike it strongly. How can I connect with a POV character and totally live in their head to experience what they're living through if I'm pulled out and dropped into someone else's thoughts and feelings? I can't. Others can, and that's great for them, but I can't. So that's why I decided on going a solid 3 stars.

A big thanks to Netgalley and BSB for the opportunity to read a new-to-me author!

ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I haven’t read anything else by Cass Sellars, but it looks like I’ve been missing out, I really enjoyed this.

This features MC Jess, who is CEO of the company her father started and Skylar, who has just started working there as a Finance manager. Both characters are engaging, especially when they interact with each other. I really felt their chemistry, and loved the way they interacted. Sky and Jess interact both at work and in private, and the unfolding of their relationship is pretty sweet. Sky has some past issues that are hinted at and then later revealed, and Jess is supposed to be some sort of player, but is too sweet for that role. She does, however, have a crappy girlfriend at the start of the book and it took way too long for her to shake herself loose.

Most of the supporting characters are fairly superficial, but I did love Jess’s ex Dino (would love to see her again in her own book) and Yolanda, although I would have liked to see Skylar with someone to support her too.

There’s also some work ‘issues’ that crop up, and honestly, this was the weakest part, <spoiler> especially that anyone who was remotely bad or annoying in the story were all tied together. <\spoiler>.

There’s the usual melodrama around the 75% mark, but it’s resolved fairly quickly. The romance between the two leads made up for the weaker elements highlighted above. I enjoyed this and look forward to reading more by this author. 4 stars.
