I love snow books so a novel set in a ski resort is already a win. Olivia has been the acting manager at Evergreen Resort and Spa ever since the last incompetent manager left. She loves the place but still can’t help but feel bitter when head office sends her a new manager. Hopefully this one will know more than the last. If nothing else, a chance encounter with a woman on her morning walk makes her feel more positive. Hayley Boyd has been sent to Evergreen by her father in the hopes that she’ll straighten out her reckless behaviour and make something of herself.

Olivia and Hayley have great chemistry even when they’re not talking to each other. This is a lovely romance with both character’s having enough interest in their backstories to make it a little different even with my bias for books with artists and snow. As usual, the telling and the build-up is measured and the story well-written.

Book received from Netgalley and Bold Strokes Books for an honest review.

I’ve been struggling to review this book recently because I can’t honestly put into words how much I loved it. But here goes nothing…

I’ve been keeping this book for when life is a little crazy and I need an escape because let’s face it, it’s Georgia Beers so the guarantee I’ll enjoy it is pretty high. I was not disappointed. I adored this book. I think it is definitely my favourite of Georgia Beers’ books to date and that’s a big thing because she has many books in my all-time favourites list. Olivia and Hayley are both such likeable characters and from the moment they meet out on the snow, I was sucked in on their rollercoaster ride. I loved Olivia with her pure heart and big ideas. She was so sweet and completely lovable, so it wasn’t a shock that Hayley fell for her. Hayley was also an amazing character, but I liked watching her evolve and rise to challenge after challenge and by the end, I liked her just as much as Olivia… She was also (in my mind) incredibly hot.

I can’t not mention Hayley’s father Benton because he ended up being my favourite character of the whole book. Every time I was reading Benton’s POV I was in tears. I could feel his love for his late wife, Kerry so bad it was overwhelming and honestly, I wasn't expecting to be as affected as I was. Chapter seven when we are reading Benton’s thoughts about his wife and daughter, broke my heart. I could really feel his pain on that moment. It was a little disturbing how much I felt his sadness. Watch out for this chapter because you’re going to want to grab the tissues… In fact, just keep them with you throughout. You can thank me later.

WOW! The chemistry is full-on from the first time Hayley and Olivia meet. Even when Olivia is describing Hayley, you feel how affected she is by Hayley’s beauty. It was hot and the buildup to when they get together is truly delicious… Worth the wait!

Phenomenal read that I can’t wait to snuggle down with again soon. Go buy it now… You won’t regret it.

This book is a perfect read for this Christmas season. A classic rom com. Olivia or Hayley meet during a chance encounter, there is an immediate spark between them.
Only for them to find out the next day that they will have to work together at the Evergreen Resort and Spa. For Olivia the stakes are high, her goal is to save the hotel from closing and becoming a manager. Hayley needs to prove to her father that she can be responsible and run the hotel. All while keeping her identity of being the daughter of the hotel owner, a secret from everyone, including Olivia,

A sweet story with all the feels. What I loved about the story is how it made me feel - snowfalls, a warm resort, Christmastime - all of the warm and fuzzies are here.

I liked the characters and the premise. From the start, you want these two to get together, but they're polar opposites, one has secrets, and oh yeah - one hates the other because she stole her job right out from under her.

A good read, and perfect for this time of year.

I always enjoy Georgia Beers stories. She creates the most likeable characters and entertaining themes.
This story was sweet from beginning to end with one blip about 2/3rs of the way into the book. But Beers doesn't make you suffer too long and treats you to a sensible conclusion. The story and ending is very predictable but a very sweet read.. I highly recommend any of Ms. Beers books. I always say "she's the queen of emotions "

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was hooked pretty early in this book. The characters were what really drew me in and kept me reading. Both Hayley and Olivia are well written and unique. Each of the secondary characters also had personality and purpose in moving the story forward. I loved the setting as well. Evergreen Resort is a fun and well-described place throughout the story. I found myself becoming attached to it the same way Olivia did.

The romance was paced very well, neither character immediately needing to jump into bed with the other, but the instant attraction still being obvious to them both. The drama that caused the short separation at the later part of the book was as I expected, with a bit of unexpected mixed in.

My only minor issue was the fact that there were a couple of sections told from a third character's perspective. I completely understand the reasons behind it, but they took me out of the story a bit and I found myself skimming those parts a little.

3.75 with the benefit of rounding up.

I feel like Georgia Beers is a solid consistent base hitter. She’s not always going to knock it out of the park but you know she’ll get on base.

If books had a hallmark shelf, I’d throw this one there. It’s a decent story, good characters, and a charming background.

My only critique is that there were several times where I felt something fell or stopped short before I got everything I wanted.

There are a ton of books out there where one of the main characters is this spoiled rich kid who actually has the head for the business at hand, but they just are unwilling to take the responsibility for it. In this one, Hayley Boyd Markham is essentially the heir to the huge Markham luxury hotel business who has been sent to a failing upstate mountain resort to be its manager as punishment for her clubbing. Her father and her both know that she doesn't have the head for it, despite graduating well in a prestigious business school. All she wants to do is paint, and have her father acknowledge her, especially after her mother died.

Olivia Santini is a driven assistant manager at the hotel in question. She's very talented, and was envisioning the manager's office as her. But those dreams come crashing down when Hayley is shoved into the position. Olivia can't stand that the sweet woman she met on her walk through the woods is the same one that she now has to babysit through a position that she believes should be rightfully hers.

I have not read many Georgia Beers books, but I am glad I snagged this one. I thought this would be a run of the mill romance, but there is a good amount of depth in here. Hayley is an earnest character who does want to do right by her father, but she also knows that she isn't very good at running hotels. It messes with her feelings of low self esteem, especially since the extremely competent Olivia is there to compare herself to. Olivia, for her part, is not an ice queen, but someone who has to pick up the slack for other incompetent managers and the stress of knowing that her proposals to modernize the hotel will be futile. These two are an interesting combination that shows up on the page.

This is a lovely romance with a lot of extra feelings - the scene with Hayley at the Santini's Christmas dinner just hit me in the heart feels. I loved all the characters, even plot device ex-girlfriend wasn't even too much of a detraction from the overall warm and fuzzy feelings just jumping out of the page.

Georgia Beers’ books are pretty hit or miss for me. When she gets it right she gets it SO right, but sometimes the stories just fall flat for me. This one didn’t click for me the way I’d hoped, and the problem was mostly that I didn’t like Hayley At All. Throughout the story I just couldnt muster up the empathy required to make me like her in spite of her flaws, and so I couldnt root for her and Olivia to get together. I will always give Georgia Beers’ books a chance but unfortunately for me, this one was a miss.

Olivia Santini has been the assistant manager of the Evergreen Resort and Spa for a long time and has been doing the work of the manager for almost as long. She knows that she is going to be named manager and she'll be able to lift the slowly failing resort back up to where it should be in the Markham chain of resorts. When she meets a gorgeous woman walking in the woods, it's just icing on the cake of her life. However, it's all about to go south when she finds out that woman, Hayley, has been made the manager instead, even though she's never worked a day in her life.
Hayley Markham has been on a bad path ever since her other died. And she knows it, but having her father put her in charge of a failing resort seems a bit extreme. Maybe the beautiful Olivia can help her through it. Or, maybe not. But Liv does eventually relent. It's not like the job was actually guaranteed (so true.)
It took awhile to get into this story but it was worth reading in the end.

As always, this author delivers a win. Predictability is what you expect and what you get. There is a formula in use here, with a few variations on the details. I love to read these because no matter what kind of a tremulous ride I get I know the end will make me warm and happy.

Ahhh...romance. From the setting: Colorado, resort, snow, and mountains. Characters: Hayley Boyd Markham, privileged, sad, lonely, with a charming personality. Olivia Santini, driven, focused, with a can do personality. As the story unfolds, Olivia is bummed because she was not offered the manager position and she has to deal with it. With support from family and friends Olivia does deal with it to some extent. Hayley has made some decisions and frustrated her father and the result is to manage the resort where she meets Olivia who is serving as the assistant manager. It is pretty obvious that Hayley is in over her head. Because Olivia loves her job and the people that work there, she provides the support Hayley needs. I enjoyed the family dynamics especially Olivia's mother. Very nice read and makes you smile.

This is the type of ook I enjoy when the weather is dreary. You know from the get-go that the two women who meet in some sort of circumstance will end up together, obviously not right away and with some bumps in the road.
The two ladies in this book, Olivia and Haley, meet on early morning while walking in the woods with the first snow of winter, a lovely dreamy time. They meet and there are instant sparks. The next day it turns out one Haley is the new boss of the Olivia, and the youngest child of the owner of the hotel chain they now both work at. She is there under a different name, as a punishment from her dad. Of course they fall in love, not only with each other, Olivia’s family also falls in love with Haley. But can they work things out when there are secrets between them?

I never hesitate to read a Georgia Beers book when I see one because I know she’s a very good author, but unfortunately this isn’t one of her best. There’s zero chemistry between the leads, I struggled to invest in them as a couple and I didn’t feel the insta-love that literally appeared in the first couple of pages. Overall there was too much telling of how the characters felt, and not enough showing of how or why. Such a shame as I know the author is capable of great things.

This is a WONDERFUL read :)
With authors like Georgia Beers, it is very rare that you end up disappointed! Her ability to tell a story is amazing! I mean if you read the blurb, there is nothing extraordinary about the story, but yet, you will end up really liking it!
I’ve missed seeing a connection between 2 MCs from the first page! And this is exactly what happened with this book! The connection was incredible and even though they are quite different, I actually could feel how compatible they are at the same time.
I loved the supporting characters and how they added to the storyline..
this is also a book about family since it’s mainly set around thanksgiving/Christmas/NY timings and I liked that part of it.. I would actually love to be invited over to try the meatballs :)
I think this book had the perfect romance, good amount of angst and some drama that just made it the perfect mix for me!
I would highly recommend it.. this one sure did put a big smile on my face :)
My rating is a 4.25

One Walk in Winter was an absolute delight to read! Over the years, I’ve read many of Georgia Beers’s books, and I’ve come to know this about her: she’s become an expert at taking what she’s observed about life, people and dogs and turned them into stories. Nothing escapes her eye. It’s all there on the page for us to experience. She has the ability to paint pictures with her words using such vivid detail that I often find myself reacting to the scenes in her stories. She taps into the emotion of the moment and I connect with what her characters are feeling. I love that about her writing!

One Walk in Winter was no different for me. I enjoyed the chemistry and romance between Olivia and Hayley. Beers did an excellent job of building the growing attraction between these two main characters. Though their attraction was immediate, she used a slow simmer to heat things up between them. This created the perfect kind of tension between them.

Beers's supporting characters are always a fun addition to her stories. They are interesting and generally bring another perspective to the story. In One Walk in Winter, I particularly enjoyed Olivia’s Italian family. Beers just nailed the whole “Italian family” thing. The way she used family traditions and interactions was perfect. And the food! I think I tasted the meatballs, I kid you not! Those scenes just jumped off the page for me.

Beers stories often include a dog, and Walter, Olivia’s dog, is probably one of my favorites! She really made Walter come to life; her descriptions of him running and doing "dog things" were so spot-on. He was adorable and I felt the love that Olivia, Olivia’s family—especially Olivia’s mother—and Hayley had for him. He was a sweet addition to the story.

One Walk in Winter was a fun read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for a sweet and tender romance between two women who fall in love after one walk in the winter.

5/5

As usual Georgia Beers brings another great romance book.

The book is cute and sexy. I personally loved the fact that the characters were involve in two things I love, hospitality and art. Chemistry between the characters was palpable form the very first time they look at each other. The supporting characters were great and just added to the story.

I will definitely re-read this book on a snowy day this winter.

LOVE IT. There's this odd charm to this book. i was not so sure at first on what. then I decided it's Hayley's character, its so well written. not to say Olivia is not well written or likable but she's just another character to me. if i needed to but a word for her i'd say sweet and submissive just because she stayed in that job even tho her ideas and hard work were not being appreciated. ( besides the point i know) Having said that there's one part I did not like nor made sense to me. Still did not ruin the joy i felt when I finished.

Super glad i got to read this thank you so much to the author and her team.

A walk in the woods on a crisp fall day to women meat and sparks fly they have an instant attraction. Then they have an instant dread when both women realize they will be working closely together at the Evergreen Resort and Spa. Olivia loves her job in hotel management and is determined to make the Evergreen a successful place. Hayley on the other hand is an artist at heart and cares very little about hotel management yet she is the new manager of the spa. There is much that is different between Olivia and Hayley, Olivia has a loving and very supportive family around her while Hayley has a cold and distant father who expects her to fail in her new job.
Hayley holds many secrets and lies from Olivia yet they grow closer until there is a very passionate kiss that leads to more until the deception and lies all come out and the betrayal is too much to process.
Georgia Beers writes exceptionally well and does killer and smoking hot love scenes. Her well written characters are developed to a level that enables the reader to understand the motivations in their actions. Her well written characters are developed to a level that enables the reader to understand the motivations in their actions. She also adds secondary characters into this story that broaden and expand the story. I highly recommend this book.
