Shalini has done it again in delivering us a real treat in this gripping and addictive thriller! You could have knocked me down with a feather THAT TWIST at the end I could not fathom coming, very clever and well thought. The plot is highly engaging and addictive, you will thoroughly enjoy until the very last page. I’m a huge long time fan of Shalini’s and I always look forward to her books I’ve read every one and they have never disappointed me!

A big thank you to netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I couldn’t put this book down. I read it in one go as I had to know what was going on. Well written with a twist I didn’t see coming!

A wildly , captivating read. I was into the book from front to end without a day gone. I was holding my breath. I just never saw the ending coming.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this Arc.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Plenty to keep me intrigued.
Good twist at the end though I felt the book finished a little soon afterwards.
Solid 4 stars.

An enjoyable read with an intriguing premise and a twist in the tale that I didn’t see coming. What lengths would you go to if you think you recognise your daughter who was taken as a 2 year old when you meet an 11 year old with an uncanny resemblance?

Nine years ago her daughter was taken.

And now she’s back. Two-and-a-half-year-old Holly is playing happily in a pink plastic playhouse, while her mother Rachel sips coffee and chats with a friend nearby. It should be an ordinary day for all of them. But, in the blink of an eye, it turns into every family’s worst nightmare.

Holly is taken by a stranger and never found.

Nine years later, Rachel is living a quiet life in Dorset. She’s tried to keep things together since the traumatic day when she lost her eldest daughter. She has a new family; a loving partner and her secrets are locked away in her painful past.

Until one afternoon when Rachel meets a new school parent Kate and her teenage daughter Bella. Rachel’s world is instantly turned upside down – she’s seen Bella before. She’d recognise that face anywhere – it’s her missing child.

And she will stop at nothing to get her back…

I loved this book. At first I thought I know where this is going, but boy was I wrong! It took a very surprising turn which left me gasping. 4.5*

Where do I start with this book! The Other Daughter kept me reading and wanting to read till it was finished. I really want to disclose all the twists and turns that happened: but I can’t! You’ll just have to read it.
I will say that I gasped towards the end because I just didn’t see it coming. Ok not a gasp, but a shout really that woke my kids.
I feel very privileged to have read this book and look forward to reading more from the author.
Sorry no spoilers. I’m not even going to give you a hint. Just read the book today

Another good story by this author, thought not my favourite of hers. I found some of the description at the beginning a little much, it didn't read naturally. But overall a tense story, with an interesting premise.

The blurb on the back of the book is what grabbed my attention however once I cracked the cover I was pleasantly surprised. The characters are well rounded and the story is something that makes you bond with the characters and wonder what you would do if you were placed in that same sort of situation. Our book begins with our main character Rachel drinking coffee at the mall with her daughter and her friends. She turns her back for just a moment however when she looks back her daughter (Holly) is missing. There have been no leads and no resolution just the fact that a stranger now has her child. Never forgetting her missing child
Rachel tries her best to move on. Things are going pretty good however when she does to pick up her other child at school she is hit with a wave of emotion as she sees her new friend (Kate's) daughter, Bella. She becomes convinced that Bella is in fact the daughter that was taken from her all those years ago and she will stop at nothing to get her back and complete her fractured family dynamic. I really liked our main character she was so strong but you could tell that she was still broken after her daughter went missing. I also liked the time frame jumps it gave you a much more rounded story and showed you things that the author would be unable to otherwise. Very good read and I'm very glad I got the chance to check it out. The twists were really good and this book had me on my toes through the whole thing. The ending had to be the best part I never saw anything like that coming and it hit me like a truck. Very amazing read, it really changes the whole story.

Rachel's young daughter was abducted from a public play area. Nine years later, Rachel thinks she has found her daughter again - now a tween belonging to a new, seemingly friendly family. The similarities between tween Bella and toddler Holly are too many for Rachel to ignore. What heights will she go to to get her daughter back?

Well, this was a suspenseful, captivating read! I could hardly put down the book, desperate to find out what really happened to Holly, and how it tied into this new, mysterious family. Rachel's attempts to reach out to Bella, and find out if her maternal instincts are correct, were interspersed with past events narrated by Catriona, the woman who took Holly from the playground. Unfortunately, the twist wasn't as surprising as I had wished. And when it did happen, I felt that the novel wrapped up a bit too quickly.

All complaints aside, however, this was an interesting psychological thriller, well worth the read.

Thanks to the Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC.

What a thoroughly enjoyable read this was! I have read all of this authors other books and they are all fantastic. It was full of twists and turns and it certainly kept me hooked. I would definitely recommend this book.

The concept of this book is really great. There's a mother whose child is stolen from her when she is young, and years later she sees a woman who has a daughter that looks exactly like hers that was stolen. Did this woman steal her child? How far will a mother go to find her daughter?
Unfortunately I just did not enjoy this book. Perhaps I read too many psychological thrillers, but this one just wasn't up to par. I appreciate the authors attempt to provide an exciting twist at the end but I just felt the book was rushed and the characters weren't properly built up. Maybe if the book was a bit longer and there were more detail around some of the characters I could have enjoyed it more.
The twist at the end is one that I typically would have loved. It really was a great idea and I was so impressed with how it came out of nowhere, and I really didn't expect it. However, it didn't make up for the rest of the novel and how underdeveloped the characters were. It just didn't work.

Although I didn't enjoy this one, I will for sure read another Shalini Boland because I have enjoyed hers in the past!

This was another interesting read from the author. Good mystery with a twist at the end. I do not like split/multiple personality stories since it makes explaining the story too easy. Since I found the ending too convoluted, I give the book a four- star rather than five-star rating.

I’m unexpectedly undecided about this book. The positives were that the quick narrative and constant switching between Catriona and Rachel’s POVs kept me interested and wanting to know what was going to happen next. The negative was that the actions taken by Rachel in trying to discover Bella were very unbelievable. I will say the twist was unexpected for me (I would still give this a read if you like a good twist) and the ending wrapped everything up with a neat little bow but it overall just wasn’t satisfying for me.

I received an advanced copy of this copy in exchange for honest feedback. Thanks to netgalley and bookouture.

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy of The Other Daughter!

Uhhhhh wow! I don’t even know where to begin with this book. From the very first chapter I was hooked! This book goes back and forth between the present, which allows you to see what mom, Rachel, is going through when she meets a new family in town and is convinced the eldest daughter, Bella, is her abducted toddler, Holly and the past, which shows how Catriona deals with the aftermath of kidnapping a toddler from a shopping centre. I kept reading faster and faster, thinking I knew how this book was going to end and started to feel a little disappointed it would be completely predictable. Boy was I wrong!!!!! I NEVER saw this ending coming and was so exciting for the super huge twist when all is revealed! I actually had to re-read the part where the shocker was revealed to make sure I understood what the heck I just read!!

For years, I’ve had Shalini Boland’s other books on my TBR shelf and am seriously considering holding off on everything to read them all ASAP!! Highly recommend!

Two year old Holly is abducted from a play area in a shopping centre while her mother Rachel is drinking coffee and chatting to her friend. Unfortunately she is never found. Fast forward nine years and Rachel sees a girl who she thinks is Holly. What extent will she go to to try to prove she is Holly?

As with all Shalini's books, it was a fast read with lots of red herrings to keep you guessing.

This will appeal to fans of psychological thrillers who love a twist.

I am a huge Shalini Boland fan so was delighted to read this one. A very twisty book with good characterisation and a killer hook - abducted child reappears after a number of years but how can her identity be proved?
I fairly raced through the pages eager to find out what was going on. However, I have to admit I was disappointed with the direction the story took. You had to suspend disbelief too much I think to buy into the twists as the story concluded. Just my opinion of course and I would certainly read more books by the author.

Twisted

What a story. This is the story about a three year old abducted from a playground. The story of the abduction and what happened after.

Just when you think you have it figured out and are rooting for Rachel to get her daughter that was abducted back the story takes a strange twist.

I was up until early hours of the morning finishing this book. I just could not put it down. It has been a page turner from the very first page.

It is an engaging story, kept me in suspense the whole time, and I can say that you will never guess what happens next.

If you want a suspenseful story that will keep you reading until the end this is the book for you. I recommend it.

Thanks to Bookouture, Shalini Boland, and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review and advanced copy of the book.

I'm a massive fan of Shalini Boland and I know that with every new book I'll be for a brilliant treat.

This fantastic new psychological mystery surpassed my expectations.
Shalini weaves from what seems to be a straight forward easy to figure out story an absolutely unpredictable massive shocker.

Here we have Rachel, when we meet her she is a happily married mother of two whose personal and professional life seem perfect. But as always nothing is what it seems, and Rachel had a painful secret from her past that she had never shared with anybody even her loving husband.

Years ago Rachel had a little daughter who was abducted when Rachel was busy with a conversation.
Now a new family arrived at the neighborhood and they had a daughter "Bella" who bears a striking resemblance to Rachel's missing daughter. Rachel's world started to unravel and she became obsessed with Bella and how to prove that her family are the kidnappers who stole her baby all those years ago.

The narrative alternates between the past and the present with Rachel as the predominant voice, but also in the past we meet another voice, that of a woman whose presence added more intensity and creepiness to an already engrossing plot.

What will happen, is Bella really Rachel's daughter? How Rachel's erratic behavior affects her little family? and who is this woman from the past and how does she fit into all of this? Read to find out how this exceptional story unfolds.

Thanks Netgalley, Bookouture, and Shalini Boland for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
