A good twisty and turny murder mystery. There's burglary, adultery, murder, blackmail and a ponzi scheme to boot. It's well written and reasonably believable for a fictional murder mystery. You get a good sense of the people involved - so much so that I could picture one or two of them.

Loved it - read it in one sitting.

I read and very much enjoyed Murder by the Minster, and this second book in the Kitt and Evie series was just as enjoyable. It is not necessary to read the first book prior to this but it does help to get an understanding of the characters involved.

The story starts when the friends try to disprove accusations that Charley has been accused of. There are twists and turns and some very clever writing. I especially enjoyed the numerous references to Agatha Christie. It was good to read how the relationships between the characters have evolved and I look forward to reading the third book in this enjoyable series.

It may not be a chilling, edge of your seat read but it is an enjoyable cosy mystery read which I highly recommend.

Kitt and Evie are what would happen if Jessica Fletcher and Miss Marple teamed up. The whole story had a very Agatha Christie vibe that I thoroughly enjoyed. I didn't realize this was a sequel when I started it so there were some things referenced that I was a bit confused about so I would suggest reading these in order. Otherwise it was a delightful read. I liked the interaction between the characters especially Kitt and Evie and between Evie and Charley. I'm interested to see how they all develop in future books. I will now be going back to read the first in this series by Helen Cox.

DC Charlotte Banks has been suspended on suspicion of assaulting a suspect in a major robbery at a local bookshop. With DI Halloran unable to help/interfere, it falls to Kitt & Evie to investigate why Charley's being framed, who was behind the robbery - and how the dead bodies died...

Can't wait for the next in the series

I read this book because I thought York would be a nice change from the other places that the murders are usually committed. Found the story hard going, couldn’t get into the characters and found it all a bit unbelievable. Sorry I won’t be reading the first book in this series.

An interesting and enjoyable story with a different slant to the usual detective tales. Definitely recommended to those readers who enjoy reading this genre.

This story takes place 6 weeks after the first book, murder in the Minister and again involves Kitt and Evie looking into who framed DS Charlotte Banks and who has stolen several highly valuable first editions from one of Kitts favourite book stores

A body in the bookshop is just as gripping as the first in the series and am now eagerly awaiting book number 3

This book is a cozy hybrid. There is nothing wrong with this book, it just didn't hit the spot for me. I'm pretty sure other readers will enjoy it though! The mystery is very good and well-plotted.

I was sent an advance copy of this novel to read and give an honest review and I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is the first novel that I have read by Helen Cox and previous to this I had never heard of her. The novel starts with the theft of some very valuable first editions from a bookshop and local librarian Kitt and her friends Evie and Grace decide to take a hand in the investigation alongside the police. Evie is also upset to find out that her friend Detective Sergeant Charlotte (Charley) Banks has been accused of beating a suspect and is suspended from duty. The friends work together to try and locate the missing books and to clear Charley's name when the bookstore owner where the books were stolen from is murdered and the suspected book thief who was in hospital is also murdered.

I found Evie and Kitt likeable characters. The storyline seemed a bit far fetched but flowed well. i felt that it was unbelievable that Halloran would be so unproffessional as to share police business with civilians.
