4.5 stars. Wow. This book was really good! I have been a fan of Samantha Young's contemporary romance, so I was looking forward to this foray into the paranormal genre. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this book just as much, if not more than her contemporaries! This book is one of the best paranormal romances I have ever read.

War of Hearts is Thea and Conall's book. Thea is on the run from a bad past, constantly hiding and unsure of who or what she really is. She has powers that she can not explain or fully control and an evil man is out to get her. Conall is a Scottish werewolf chief. His younger sister is dying of a lycanthropic disease. He is approached by a mysterious businessman who offers him a cure for his sister in exchange for tracking Thea and bringing her to him. He is told that Thea is a dangerous killer, but once he finds her, Conall soon sees that is not true. As they spend time together, while Conall is traveling to bring her back, they find they have a strong connection and attraction. Nothing is how it seemed. They soon find themselves fighting an evil force together, and falling in love.

I loved Conall and Thea. They were both strong, interesting characters and made a great match. The world building is very good and has great potential for more stories in the future. I loved the story, the characters and the romance. There is suspenseful, action filled moments, some sexy ones and some moments of humor. I was engrossed in War of Hearts and could not put it down. Just writing this review makes me want to do a reread.

Overall, I loved this book and I really hope it is continued into a series!

A thrilling, fast-paced drama, War of Hearts completely captured my attention and kept hold of it until the very last page! Paranormal romance never gets old, but sometimes the stories start sounding repetitive. I like when a book comes along in the genre that is completely different, and that's what this book is. There's mystery, adventure, twists and turns in the plot, and unique characters who make their importance known in the story. Each character is important, each scene a clue, and each kiss a step closer to a happily ever after.

Thea Quinn has been on the run for six years, hiding in various countries where she can work without detection and keep under the radar of a powerful man who would destroy her if he could. She always knows when someone is getting too close, and when she feels it once again in Poland, she comes face-to-face with a man she may not be able to escape - Conall MacLennan. It's not his usual style to kidnap a woman he doesn't know and deliver her to a man who may not have good intentions. But he's told Thea's blood will save his sister from a disease that will eventually kills her, so he's willing to sacrifice his morals for the sake of his family. As he gets to know Thea, however, he realizes that he wasn't given the whole truth about her past, and instead of taking her captive, he may need to save her instead.

I loved the dynamic between Thea and Conall - they both were very strong characters that played off each other well throughout the book. Headstrong and clever, they constantly surprised each other, and although things started out tempestuous at first, their relationship involved into something quite beautiful. Thea had a hard time trusting anyone, especially given her upbringing and the things she had witnessed since being held captive. Hunted for her blood, she hasn't truly felt safe for a long time, and Conall is able to give her some peace. The only issue I had with Conall was that he was, in a way, engaged from the start of the book, and so there was definitely a sense of betrayal that he waited so long to tell Thea. They still had a very strong relationship, and I enjoyed seeing them grow, but I felt that conflict was a bit unnecessary. Conall didn't do a fantastic job of redeeming himself either, and I could understand how Thea felt after having been unable to trust others for years.

I'm eager to see where this series takes us next. This is the first book I have read by this author, and I was blown away by her character building. Brava, S. Young!

I've always enjoyed Young's romantic writings but this was very different. Werewolf stories have been great fun to read, typical me alpha you not. However, Young wove a story with true grit, passion, empathy and history. Although it was probably the longest book I've read in ages, it was worth it. She left us satisfied but with an opening for more if she chooses. My copy came through Netgalley, review written voluntarily.

Thea is a supernatural being, but what kind? Conall is the wolf hired to hunt her and bring her back to her guardian, but he wants something in return! The life of his sister! Can Conall find Thea? Can she outrun the evil chasing her in addition to one hungry wolf? The book can answer those questions! I loved reading this story! It had the intrigue and edge of seat suspense to keep me focused!

I read this book as an arc from NetGalley

This was a wonderful book - and an awesome start of a new series. I can't wait to read more! Thea Quinn is a seriously kick-ass heroine. Like really. She is way stronger than any of the men she encounters in the book and extremely special. Conall is totally Alpha, but does not try to control Thea or dominate her. Even when he thinks the worst of her, he still respects her. Both Conall and Thea have unique gifts and have an instant connection.

I love that the author lets Thea be a badass. She is extremely strong and has 100% confidence in herself. She does what she needs to survive, but she mitigates the damage she causes as she goes along as much as possible. Taking only what she needs and only doing what she needs to do to protect her self. Everything Conall does is for his family, his clan, and his pack. That along with a strong moral compass guides him. From the beginning he senses that all is not what it seems - but the book really starts when he finally talks to Thea and she is willing to share some of her story.

The world building is this book is perfect - the perfect combination of providing information without weighing down the story. A world where werewolves, vampires, witches, and the fae are real and a lot of the stories about them are true is crafted extremely skillfully.

This book is a must read for fans of paranormal romance. Love it!

I received this book as an ARC from netgalley, but this opinion is all my own!

Great read. New take on old myths. First read by this author. Glad I took a risk on this one. Some parts are predictable, but it kept you reading because the other parts kept you wondering how it would end. Thea was tough yet vulnerable. Her story was heart breaking. I didn’t like Conall at first he was extremely judgmental and arrogant. He came around though. The villains were truly evil. The other reason for only four stars is that I didn’t appreciate using Jesus as a cuss word. I can live with all the cuss words you can think of but not that one. Other than that great read. I hope there are more installments.

Received an ARC for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book from the beginning. The plot started slowly, but I actually appreciated more, because in other books sometimes I feel things are rushed. Here we got to know the characters from the beginning.
Spoilers ahead:
I loved Thea, she is badass, but also she suffered a lot throughout her life and yet she still decided to help strangers or innocent people.
Conall is a typical strong alpha, for whom family and pack comes first. Until he meets Thea and got to know that not everything black and white. I particularly enjoyed relationship as its processed.
All in all I really loved the book and I would love to read more from S. Young.

I had a hard time getting into the story, however, it is not my usual genre. Decent story by an author whose romance books I usually enjoy. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

5 "My Love For You Is Infinite" Stars!

Well now if that wasn't just a delectable little piece of paranormal yumminess, I don't know what is! Ms. Young, this definitely checked all of my paranormal boxes and a few extras.

Let's talk about the stars of this "show"....Connall and Thea. First of all Connall is apparently the epitome of an alpha werewolf - - larger, faster and has an unheard of ability to track. He's also very dedicated to his pack and family. Thea is living alone, as her family is dead, and she's been on the run from someone who wants to hurt her...who has actually hurt her in the past and she's very afraid of him. She has abilities, but she isn't sure "what" she is or where these strange abilities came from. She just knows that she's different and sometimes she's able to use the extra abilities to protect herself.

When Thea and Connall meet, it isn't a friendly get to know you type thing initially, it's more of a "Dog the Bounty Hunter" meetup. Connall has been sent to bring Thea to someone who has "hired" him. This man claims that he can help save Connall's sister, who is dying from the werewolf equivalent of cancer but to do so, he needs some of Thea's blood. This little arrangement sets a great deal of things into motion and nothing will be the same for any of them.

“Truth conquers, Thea.” His wolf eyes gleamed with satisfaction. “And this is our truth.”

War of Hearts was a dark and gritty paranormal romance. There was romance but there was also a large quantity of violence and mayhem. It was truly such a fun read for me and I hope that Ms. Young decides to continue on with additional novels in this "world" she's created. She definitely set it up to be a possibility. For those of you wondering, S. Young is the pen name for Samantha Young and she definitely proved that she can write adult paranormal with the best of them!

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Ms. Young for this ARC which I received in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars!
What a great read it was.
War of Hearts took me on a wonderful trip around Europe with a sexy alpha werewolf and strong heroine with super powers. There is an action and adventure, love and destiny. Both of the characters are very likeable and they got great chemistry. Conall is your typical alpha hero, also he's very understanding, emotional man with a big heart full of love. Super protective of people who he cares about. Thea is a fierce and strong heroine who has to run and hide from her painful past. Their relationship starts with a trust and friendship, then involve into a passionate love.

Young knows how to write a good romance, whatever it is contemporary or (like in this case) paranormal. If you miss a paranormal romance with werewolves, vampires and other sups, you need to check this book.

Thank you NetGalley for the early copy.

War of Hearts by S. Young is exciting, passionate and thrilling. From the very beginning, the chase was on. There was intrigue and mystery that lasted throughout the book and had me frantic to know more. The pace throughout the book was fast although there is one point the book where it lags a little as it explains some history.

I absolutely LOVED the fact that Thea was such a powerful female. In fact, she is one of the strongest female leads’ that I’ve ever read. Her strength and savvy abound. She fought hard for everything she had: Her safety, her protection and her life.

I enjoyed seeing her physical strength as well as her strength of character. I also liked getting a glimpse of her vulnerability later on in the book. For me, it made her such a memorable and amazing character.

Connell, my GAWD. I could hear his brogue and the way he said “lass”. Not to mention that he is a werewolf and a pure alpha male! I’ve never wanted a Scottsman more!

The action and suspense will keep you at the edge of your seat. The tension and anticipation are electric.

The world this author has created is unique, with its own spin. I really was taken in by the story, the plot and its characters. I can’t wait for what’s next!

Thea has been on the run for several years. She has started a new life but is not really living. She flees from place to place hoping to escape her past that just keeps finding her. This does not give her a chance to put down roots or even to make friends or to fall in love. She in fact has given up on it.

Conall is the laird of clan MacLennan. He is also one of the most powerful werewolves around. What he cannot do however is save his sister from a wasting werewolf disease. So, when a human hunts him down and asks for his help to find a murderer in exchange for a cure that will help his beloved sister, he is all for it. The catch? If he does not return the murderer to him, he will take his sister’s life in exchange.

What he does not understand is that Thea is not who and what he thinks she is. When he catches up with Thea, he realizes she is so much more. But what can come of them when he must eventually exchange Thea’s life for that of his sister’s?

I received an ARC via NetGalley of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

To be fully honest, I am not a huge supernatural romance fan at this pint so I hesitated to sign up to review this book, however, Samantha Young is one of my favorite authors so I wanted to see what she could do with the genre. I am not new to it, I spent a lot of my twenties enjoying it but as I've gotten older I've just enjoyed contemporary romance more than anything else. If someone is new to the genre this is a great introduction, because to me it is a really great example of what it can be, but I'm not surprised with it coming from Samantha Young's able mind.

I was immediately intrigued by the concept and the setting. Scotland is one of my favorite countries, and I love learning about the Clan system, so a werewolf clan was fascinating. I also loved the mystery surrounding Thea and what she was, though again, to be fully honest, I figured it out pretty early on but that didn't ruin it for me.

The sparks between Thea and Conall were HOT and the European chase was fun. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who already likes supernatural romance or is looking for an easy entry into the genre.

This is my first read of this author and I have to say I was impressed there is plenty of action and drama to keep the story flowing along at a great pace and the attraction between Thea and Connall is intense.

Thea doesn't know what she is but she knows that she is something other than human and now she is on the run with someone chasing her Connall MacLennan, Alpha and Chief of Clan MacLennan and leader of the last werewolf pack in Scotland is hot on her trail as he has been commissioned to catch her. The only thing is that he is beginning to doubt the information that he is tracking a killer As he and Thea spend more time together and learn to trust one another more questions will be asked than are answered. Do they have a future together You will have to read to see

I have enjoyed everything that I have read by Samantha Young so I was quite keen to read War of Hearts, a standalone paranormal romance..

Our main character is feisty, strong and witty twenty five year old Thea Quinn who has been on the run for six long years, trying to avoid a man she never wishes to cross paths with again; Ashworth.

Thea is a bit of a mystery, she has no idea what supernatural creature she is but she does know that her abilities are unlike any other supernatural that she knows of and she is super strong with amazing healing abilities. Her life hasn't been easy so you couldn't help but hope for a HEA for Thea,

Conall MacLennan is the Alpha to one of the last werewolf packs in Scotland, he has a special tracking ability that is of great use to Ashworth;. If he can apprehend Thea, he has promised that her blood will cure his sister Callie of her deathly illness. Conall was a great character, dedicated to his pack and family, he was 6'6 of strength and dominance but still had a soft heart of gold.

I enjoyed the interactions between Thea and Conall, their banter and the chemistry between them was off the charts; they couldn't have been more different but they worked together well and shared the same morals and beliefs. Things did happen between them very quickly but once you understand the reasoning behind it, it was more believable.

I enjoyed the action, side characters, mystery and paranormal creatures that were introduced; War of Hearts was very well written and I am hoping that it does become a series as there is so much of this world still left to explore.

Thank you to the publisher via Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of War of Hearts.

I'm sitting here applauding Samantha Young for War of Hearts. This was just a book I didn't know was missing in my life. For all you paranormal romance lovers out there, you need to read this book. This is a book to sink your teeth in. I for one couldn't walk away from this one for anything. I love Thea. She is so strong and a fighter. You can call her a survivor of unknown origin. To find out who and what Thea is you need to read this and fall in love with her as I did. Then there is Conall. You are going to love this Alpha and Chief pack leader of the last Scottland werewolf pack. He is strong and determined to do what it takes to heal his sister. He has these extra abilities that make him stand out. And when it comes to tracking Thea nothing will stop him. Thea and Conall have this chemistry that you will love. The fight between them is just some amazing explosive foreplay into who and what Conall and Thea are. I couldn't get enough of this one. This is a paranormal must read and needs to be clicked today.

Having read several of this author’s books, I already knew she had talent, folks. War of Hearts lived up to those expectations and then some. I absolutely loved Thea’s strong, resilient, self sacrificing, alpha warrior type character and her special abilities. Throw in the fact Conall was amazing as the conflicted hero, who turns into one committed, won’t be deterred love interest, and I’m not sure I really need to say a whole lot more. Other than the writing flowed, and I enjoyed every single second with this main couple.

There are so many different sides and emotions to this story I definitely stayed riveted and engaged. Here’s a few that stand out: steely determination, betrayal, realization, understanding, self-sacrifice, and, most importantly, a soul mate connection that can’t be denied.

Even if you aren’t into supernatural/wolf shifter themed reads, you get here a great adversaries to lovers romantic tale. But better brace yourself for lots of action packed drama and a big twist that throws a huge advantage to one person yet ultimately takes another unexpected turn towards the end. I must say I had mixed feelings about the change of circumstances.

Well, my war with words in trying to give you an inkling of what you get here without any spoilers has come to an end. Here’s to hoping you will enjoy this book as much as I did. I can’t wait to walk through the door that was left open regarding a sub-character who is going to lead the way to another sequel in this paranormal series.

Title: War of Hearts, Author: S. Young (Samantha Young), Pages: 447, paranormal, stand-alone but part of new series, great author, alpha wolf shifter hero, warrior tough heroine, both have a soft/sweeter side to them, some graphic werewolf/vampire violence.

4.5 stars. Ugh I just loved Thea and Conall’s story so much! I really enjoyed the supernatural world that was created in this book. The fact that it mostly took place in the Highlands made it even more enjoyable. There was so much intrigue, mystery, heartbreak and romance and I enjoyed every single second. I cannot wait for the next part of this story!

War of Hearts was good, a bit slow in parts but I enjoyed it. It's packed with secrets, lies, betrayal and twists that I saw coming but it didn't ruin my overall enjoyment of the story. I loved the hero and heroine. Conall is a grumpy alpha who is super protective of those he loves. Thea is a fierce, feisty badass. I loved their journey. It was one of self discovery, love and a host of other things. I'm looking forward to where their journey takes them next. I definitely recommend this book.

I have no words how to describe this book, I am speechless! Running across Europe, fights with the witches, vampires, wolfs .shifters .. .. Love, lust, trust, betrail, sacrifice ...My God, you have everything in this amazing book. S.Young has written a perfect book and I admire her imagination and desire to write something different and more complex. If I can give more than 5 stars I will definitely give. For me, this is the book of the year in this genre and I can't wait for other books in this series. Thank you, NetGalley, S.Young and publisher for this opportunity.
