The Heart of a Stranger by Andre Naffis-Sahely is a powerful piece of literature. This collection of poetry and prose is not one to be missed. I must say Naffis-Sahely, gave me a new meaning of what is to be exiled.

Thank you, Pushkin Press for gifting me this DARC via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review. Over all this was a 4/5 star read.

What a timely and impressive anthology. The exile/forced migrant experience is central to contemporary news and literary criticism, but Naffis-Sahely contextualizes it’s history with poetry and prose, fiction and nonfiction, male and female voices from around the world from ancient times to today. Social, political, and literary studies will undoubtedly be enriched by this work.

I do not understand why this collection has been created, unless it is meant to be some kind of summary, example of some ideas, for Eng. Lit. students. Isn't it better to read the entire books mentioned in this collection than their snippets? I do not understand the need for this book.
