this was a good start to a series, the characters were great and I really enjoyed reading it. It kept me invested and I look forward to the sequel.

Action, suspense, shocks and twists make for a great read. The characters are intriguing and suck you in. There are secrets and lies to unravel. This is a thriller with a dose of paranormal. This first book sets a tone for the trilogy and makes the reader invested in the characters and their world.

I had a hard time connecting with the main characters. Additionally, the love story aspect seemed contrived and didn't ring true. Normally I am a fan of psychic mysteries but I didn't enjoy this as much as I wanted to. I received a free copy and I am leaving my honest opinion.

I am so glad I came across this author whom really fit right into what I have been reading alot lately. Mystery and paranormal bits you know I got sucked right away into this one. Liv and Ridge gives us a run in this one. She is there to help a legacy but runs into a undercover agent. As the story unfolds you are given plenty to follow. It will be interesting to see how Ridge comes to terms about Liv and even more alluring I found what she can do and does. The operation captures your attention in fact the whole novel will. I most definitely will be reading more from this author.

Inherent Truth by Alicia Anthony
Blood Secrets #1

Fabulous book! I could not put it down once I began reading and can’t wait for book two!

Liv Sullivan has a gift...or curse...depends on who you ask. It caused friction between her parents and her safe place to land was on the Sullivan Farm owned by her grandparents. When her grandmother dies Liv heads home for the funeral and that opens the door to this story. There is definitely a mystery, some romance, bad guys to thwart, some dead found, family secrets that were stunning and a government program I am curious about.

What I liked:
* Liv – an intelligent, loving, giving woman who sees dead people and uses the gift when she can to help get justice for those she sees
Ridge – conflicted and very by-the-book FBI man with trust issues but someone that could be very good with Liv...if he allows it to happen
* Brian – I like him and think I might like his sister, Mel. I hope they will show up in the future
* The secret hinted at dealing with Liv’s grandmother’s
* All the twists and turns that made this story so good
* The plan Liv has and where she will be heading in book two

What I did not like:
* Liv being thrown to the wolves
* The bad guys
* Not having all the mysteries figured out
* Having to wait to read the next book in the series

Did I like this book? Definitely!
Will I read more in the series? As soon as I can!

Thank you to NetGalley and Drury Lane Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.

There was intense melancholy in Olivia’s grandmother’s voice . It singled that life was about to change. She knew her grandmother wasn’t really in her apartment in Southern California yet this was more than a dream. Walking the line of normal subconscious would have been a blessing, but as usual Olivia had gone beyond straddling this world and the next. Her grandmother stood at the kitchen sink but at the Sullivan farmhouse not here. No matter how many visions she had Olivia was never prepared. Her apparition as real as if she arrived that afternoon at L A X. How many times had she come downstairs to the kitchen in Sullivans farm to see this exact image. “It’s time” she said. “ You ignored the warning but you can’t ignore your legacy.” “ This is about the girl in the woods isn't it?” Olivia asked. The call that came a couple months ago . Every time Olivia closed her eyes she saw her. Fearful blue eyes , freckles across the bridge of her nose . But what haunted Olivia the most were the familiar trees, the boat house where she played hide and seek as a child. The last time she had been at Sullivan farm was three years ago when they’d moved her grandmother. “ I expect you to take care of these.” She ignored Olivia’s question and patted the cover of the album gently. “ there’s something I need you to finish.” Before she could respond to her grandmother ushered a little girl from the bluish fog behind her. This was the missing girl from the mysterious call., the color and shape of her eyes was proof with Olivia. She waited for the girl to speak, but she remained mute. Rosebud lips pressed in a hard line. She just stared at Olivia with intense green eyes. Her strawberry blonde hair was in pigtail braids, tied with blue ribbon. One of which was dirty and the bow bedraggled. She wore a pale yellow dress with short sleeves , the hem draping just above the dimples of her knees. Tiny blue embroidered flowers the smocked bodice and a matching pair of socks and well worn Stride Rite Mary Jones. She was cute. Haunting but adorable. One thought nagged Olivia. She looked like Olivia “ Who is she?” Okivia asked. “ The answer rests with her. Come home Liv.” The knot in her throat thickened when she realized she’d never see the sparkle in her grandmother's eyes in the light of day. Through the years Olivia had learned how to speak to the visitors when they came. Than Olivia got the call her grandmother had passed away that morning. Her grandmother had asked that Olivia be notified first. Olivia knew it was time to go home to cascade Hills, Ohio. Olivia knew the house was empty… cold… lifeless. Regardless of reality the exhilaration of being home had sucked the air from her lungs.
I really liked this book until the end. It wasn’t a cliffhanger per sei but I am still a romantic at heart and it just didn’t turn out that way. It is definitely a good read and I couldn’t put it down. I loved the mystery, visions, greed, murderm lies and all that made up this book. I loved Ridge and Liv together until he walked away from Liv. I understand the plot but didn’t like how Liv was being coerced more or less and left without Ridge. This was not a hard read more hard for me to accept love didn’t win out. I sincerely hope I get a chance to read the next book. I also wish I could have rated this 4.5. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

I was really hoping that this one would have turned out being an enjoyable read.

Inherent Truth was a psychological thriller. It pulled me in and kept my attention until the end. It had many interesting characters and a suspenseful storyline. There were so many twists and turns that I didn't see coming. The only negative about this book is that it ends in a cliffhanger. Other than that it would have been a five star read.

This book just wasn't what I wanted it to be. While the premise is okay, I just couldn't connect with Liv or Ridge. The secrets and the distrust really for me made them not enjoyable. Brian and Adam were far more interesting to me. The book is well written but it just apparently didn't hit the mark for me.

Ridge McCaffrey works undercover assignments and has been assigned to keep Olivia Sullivan safe. Olivia has returned home after the death of her beloved grandmother to find that she has inherited her grandmothers’ home and estate. Someone does not want her to inherit and will go to great lengths to discredit her. Liv sees the dead and her grandmother comes to her in a vision and warns her that she must find the answers. Ridge finds the lines blurring between keeping her safe and fighting his attraction to her. This story was a little confusing to me with an ending that I did not expect. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

Alicia Anthony first book in the Blood Secrets that has character who is able to reach out and talk to those who have died. The author tries to add her own little twist to this type of genre and while she writes a good book that readers find themselves unable to put down. Once the book is down they could get this book confused with several others that have similar them or story lines.

Alicia Anthony has a great start to a series that will be able to find it voice as the series progresses.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of Alicia Anthony Inherent Truth.

The first book in a new series....YAY! When Olivia Sullivan, a young woman with physic abilities, returns to her Grandmother's home, she will come face to face with her worst nightmares. Her abilities are not complete, she sees "pieces" of stories as her communications are never as clear as she'd like. Alicia Anthony has given us Olivia and surrounded her with a cast of characters that will give her plenty of room for more books. In this one, we meet Ridge, protector, love interest, non-believer. How the two solve the mystery will give you goose bumps and looking for the next book.

Liv, with some psychic abilities, returns home for her grandmother's funeral. She sees Grandma and a little girl asking for help and closure for something. She also has various other visions of girls being murdered some time ago. She ran away to get away from these. Her return doesn't help and she's attacked when visiting Grandma's house. Enter local cop, Ridge, muscles flexing and hormones raging; he has a past, and present, secret too - their relationship gets a bit raunchy but never really progresses. Mother is seriously pissed off when she discovers that Grandma has left the house and property to Liv, various other attacks happen, we have the FBI and Ridge is, in fact, part of a covert intelligence group interested in second sighters. Not sure whether for good or bad reasons as there are several attempts at removing Liv from the scene. All rather confusing.. Lots of angst from Liv and Ridge about whether to confide with each other about their secrets and then lots of mis-understanding. Felt like shaking them at times. It was well written and the characters well drawn if not completely realistic. What made it a 3 star for me were the confusing aspects of a lot of sub plots/stories that never quite came together in any coherent way. Pity. Clearly the part cliff hanger ending allows for a continuation of at least Liv's story but she needs to do some serious thinking first. Thanks to NetGalley and Drury Lane Books LLC for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

A pleasant but not unforgettable read.

I really wanted to enjoy this book but it failed to really hit the mark for me. The plot was definitely intriguing and there were a number of interesting characters woven through the story. At times I felt myself being drawn in but then something would spoil it for me again. The main character came across as immature and not particularly likeable and her 'love interest' was equally disappointing. I felt that both characters (and a few others in the story) were inconsistent and not particularly believable while some of the more peripheral characters, in particular Brian and Adam, were more interesting and 'solid'.
The plot was a little confused and there were a number of holes and coincidences which didn't add up.
My overriding opinion is that there is a lot of room for improvement in the writing style and plot/character development and I feel like this could happen over time with future books.

I tried to get into this book, but for whatever reason I really didn't connect with the writing style. I felt like it needed a deeper level of dialog in it, it just wasn't my favorite style, Which made it hard to get into the storyline and connect with it.

Sorry I did not finish this. I had a hard time getting into it. It would be helpful to know ahead of time what view a book is written from. (In this case first person)

Really liked this book but there was a little too much distrust and jumping to conclusions by the main characters. Would read another book in the series if there is one.

I loved the first 75% of this book. It had a good mystery, it had romance (which was not overdone), it had a psychic.. I was drawn into the world, into the characters and the mystery.

Then the last quarter sort of annoyed me. If you want to know why, then contact me, but I don't want to post spoilers.

It does wrap up the mystery, but it is obviously the first in a series, since a few things were left hanging. Personally, I don't like that. I am more inclined when I am invested in a character to read the next books. When I am left with so many questions, I get more annoyed and wont read the next book as often. That's just me. (I was the kid who unwrapped her hidden Xmas presents then rewrapped them because I couldn't stand the suspense). So if you like the anticipation of not knowing and wanting more, you will appreciate the ending more than I did.

I do want to thank the publisher and net galley for the advance copy. This did not impact my review.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC.

This title is the first in a new series and is an excellent read - as proven by the fact that I was up past 3am trying to finish it in one go!

After her Grandmother’s death Liv discovers that family secrets can be deadly when she is targeted in a series of attacks, resulting in the discovery of a dead girls body in a trunk. Ridge is the undercover agent sent to watch Liv and keep her safe, emotions should never have been part of their relationship.

Questions abound as Liv seeks answers, and struggles with who to trust; particularly since Liv has secrets of her own.

This is the first book in the Blood Secrets Saga by Alicia Anthony. It’s a very complex Paranormal Romance Suspense. Olivia Sullivan can see ghosts so when her grandmother comes to her she knows she’s gone. Ridge McCaffrey is undercover FBI sent in to spy on Olivia. There are so many secrets and lies going on. Lots of action keep you going until the end. Sometimes it’s a little hard to understand what’s going on but everything comes together in the end. There is a cliffhanger of sorts at the end so be warned. Overall I really liked this book and look forward to the next book.
