First and foremost, Tempting the Texan needs to have a trigger warning and come with a number for people to seek help if they are being abused. Whether small or insignificant to some make no mistake, there is abuse in this book and not just in the past. Yes, I know this is a romance book and read as a form of escape from the world, that's all the more reason to want to help those who might be going through the same thing.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that one must read Tempting the Texan. Not only is the writing good, but the whole series relies on this story. I've read the series out of order reading the second book, Rich, Rugged Rancher, first and had to go back and read this one and any questions that I had were answered by this book. The Texas Cattleman’s Club: Inheritance series is about the Blackwood siblings fighting to reclaim what they view as their rightful inheritance from their 36-year-old wicked ex-stepmother, Miranda Dupree, after their 62-year-old father Buck passes away and leaves his entire billion-dollar fortune to her. However, things aren't that simple. Buck wasn't an easy man to get along with when he was alive and in death, it appears he's going to have the last word.

Tempting the Texan is the second chance love story of Irina Romanov and eldest son Kellan Blackwood. Irina was Buck's maid and seven years ago she and Kellan shared a passion-filled week at Blackwood Hollow, Buck’s vast estate. Haunted by memories of the past, Kellan left Texas and Irina behind. Kellan ended up in Nashville where he made a name for himself and built a massive real estate empire. With the help of Buck, Irina picked up the pieces of her broken heart and reinvented herself.

Kellan is spitting mad that Buck left his and his sibling's inheritance to gold-digging Miranda and plans to do something about it. He just never expects to come face-to-face with Irina the woman who’s haunted his dreams and whom he's avoided for seven years. It's immediately evident that the passion these two shared all those years ago still burns hot. They both know that they should stay away from each other but are helpless to do so. Ultimately, they pick up where they left off, but differences of opinion, misunderstandings, and secrets threaten to destroy the love that could save them both.

In Tempting the Texan, we are introduced to three of Buck’s four children, his ex-wife Miranda, and get a glimpse of the man he was. I don’t know what’s in store for this series, but I do know that secrets are big, passions will burn hot, and nothing is what it seems. The Texas Cattleman's Club Inheritance series is off to a fantastic start. I can’t wait to read the other books.

Big thanks to Netgalley for giving me a copy of this book in exchange of an honest reiew.

Book 1 of Texas Cattleman's Club: Inheritance turned out an interesting one. Kellan Blackwood comes back to Royal, Texas for his father's funeral and discovers that he gave all the family's inheritance to his ex-wife. Not happy with that (not because of the money, but for the family's legacy), his goal is to find what's behind his father's behavior. That reunites Kellan with Irina Romanov, his former lover. Although Irina knows she wouldn't feel anything for Kellan after the way he abandoned her seven years ago, she found out their chemistry was still there. Will she could protect not only her boss' secrets, but her heart from Kellan?

The hero and heroine are a great couple. Well developed characters and very structured personalities makes Kellan and Irina a perfect match. The secondary characters are really good, and it's a great idea that we could see some of the future heroes and heroines from the next installments of the series.

A well written story and steamy scenes makes this book a good one. One thing I didn't liked, the hero and heroine were a bit disconnected from each other and that affected the credibility of their Romance.

I have been enjoying the Cattleman's Club series but I guess multiple authors are writing episodes in the series. This is one of them with a new set of characters and an interesting twist on the series.
Kellan Blackwood comes home for the reading of his father's will only to find that he and his siblings are disinherited in favor of his father's ex-wife. Determined to overthrow the will he decides to stay in town and runs into his girfriend who apparently has been working for his father and is very loyal to him.
Between the shenanigan's of his father's ex-wife and her reality show crew who are filming all the goings on and some hidden truths regarding the inheritance and events that Kellan is not privy to the story moves along. A second chance at romance this story is not a typical harlequin warm and fuzzy tale.
This is certainly not one my favorites episodes in the series.

There's a lot going on in this Texas Cattlemen's Club series addition. Very unpredictable story. I was expecting more focus on the romance of their second chance opportunity. Interesting insights to the family and mainly focused on the inheritance and secrets revealed/surrounding it. Kellan is a hothead, I like that he is matched up with Irina who is independent, didn't like that her bad past history became her present. Intense, but I think it needs more warm moments to be considered as romance. I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Tempting the Texan by Maureen Child is a captivating romance that is full of drama and heated chemistry. The characters are realistic and easy to relate to with a story line that pulls you in and leaves you wanting more.

I really enjoyed Irina and Kellan’s story. There was so much going on, that this could have easily been longer! Kellan had to come to grips with his wife’s death and his dad’s. I’m hoping that we don’t have to wait too long to find out more of the mystery on the strange will. Irina was strong and a survivor, and I’m glad she got her HEA with Kellan.

I normally love Maureen Child books, but this one just didn't work for me. Starting another Texas Cattlemen Club series, three siblings come home for their father's will reading and they learn everything was left to their ex-stepmother who is there with her friends and camera crew for the reality TV show she stars in.

This book is Kel's story - he left Irina 7 years earlier and now runs into her again. His reasons for leaving were around his late wife. They rekindle their romance despite Irina keeping secrets about his father from him.

I don't get the premise of this series. It seems odd that supposedly Kellan's father was this great humanitarian who helped those in need, but treated his kids poorly. They are disinherited, but maybe not. Future books will tell, but it all seems contrived and manipulated. I didn't get buy in to the romance because of all the deceit.

Thanks to the publisher for a review copy via NetGalley.
