I wanted to love this book, it has all the makings of a book that I could lose myself in.
Unfortunately, it felt a little stiff, the language realy aged it also and took away that modern edge.

I loved the setting, the isolation and the mystery really had me on the edge of my seat.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this title to review. As much as I enjoyed The Hunting Party, I was somewhat dismayed to find this had the exact same premise and plot but just a different setting. I hope all her books are not going to be like that as the novelty of it wears off, unless I guess you haven’t read any others.
A wedding is being held on a remote island, for Jules and Will. Even before the cake is cut a body is discovered. As with the Hunting Party we don’t find out if it is male or female until the reveal at the end. The story is told through different guests perspectives leading up to the murder. Everyone has an agenda and secrets, that are slowly teased out as the book progresses. Hidden pasts, revenge, old loves, jealousy and resentments. So 13 guests and 13 motives are likely.
I also found the twists at the end a disappointment too, how many coincidences can there be?
