What an awesome book to pick up and enjoy by the ocean or by the pool. Ruth rents a house to get away from her boring, lonely life and she ends up with more then she bargained for. Her first few days are crazy, she is first asked to stay elsewhere for the first night, then a baby is left on the front steps then she has the two women who own the house move back in for a bit to take care of the baby.

So many ups and downs as everyone tries to navigate a whole new normal. If you are a fan of happy endings and loving summer reads this one you need to get your hands on.

Can you take something broken and turn it into something whole? Indeed you can, but it may not be in the way you had predisposed in your mind. All hell breaks loose when Ruth, who is trying to make a fresh start in the beach town of Provincetown, finds an abandoned baby on the doorstep of her summer rental home. Throw in Elise and Fern, the owners of the home whose marriage has been strained by failed pregnancy attempts, Ruth’s estranged daughter, Olivia, and a colorful cast of characters from the tight knit P’town, and you’ve got a fantastic contemporary lit novel which will have you shirking your daily duties to spend time in their lives. You’ll find yourself cheering some on, shaking your head at others (I had voted Bianca off the island from the beginning), your heart aching with some, and rejoicing in triumph with those who find their way. I also enjoyed revisiting Provincetown and some of the lovely characters from The Forever Summer. If you’re ready for a perfect beach read, grab this immediately when it comes out May 5th!

(free review copy) I am a longtime fan of Jamie Brenner, and I adore the Provincetown setting and all of the FOOD in this novel. Ruth was by far my favorite character :-) There are a few plot points that I struggled with, and I do think that some characters could have used more depth, but overall I really enjoyed it. Not my overall favorite of hers, but I can't wait to see what she writes next!

Ruth Cooperman sells her very successful business and decides to retire to Provincetown, a beach town. When she arrives her dream summer rental turns into something other than what she planned. From the landlord that just won’t go away to the baby that lands on her doorstep, Ruth doesn’t get a moments peace. Complicating matters, under false pretense Ruth tries to lure her resentful, adult daughter to come for a visit. A very complicated relationship exists between mother and daughter. Due to Ruth’s powerhouse career, her daughter Olivia has felt left out. Ruth Is welcomed by a wonderful group of friends and they all team up to try to do what’s best for the baby on the doorstep. Ruth eventually reveals through the storyline that she has a connection to Provincetown and her landing there may not have been so random after all. This is a great beach read and a book that examines the intricacies of familial relationships when people don’t see eye to eye.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Ruth was looking for a change and new chapter in life. She decided to rent a house for the summer in Provincetown. She has know idea how quickly her last would follow her. This was a fun read with really wonderful characters. Beautiful story.

What a fantastic summer read! Full of all the wonderful complications of family, job loss, retirement, divorce, new love, and a baby abandoned on the front steps of a summer rental house! The story was beautifully wound together among a wide variety of characters that all are doing the best at what they do - and yet it still isn't perfect. Is it ever? Such a terrific palate cleanse from all the heavy reads and the confinement of quarantine! Reminds us that in end what matters - love, forgiveness and second chances. So much gratitude and grace are needed in these situations - and much is found in the process.

This is my first Brenner book, but I am searching for her backlist as I type! I really enjoyed this book. The relationships were excellent. The character development was spot-on. I laughed and cried, and felt like I was there in Provincetown. I can't wait to feather Jamie Brenner's work this summer. Definitely a beach read!

Ruth has just sold her cosmetics company and is excited about her summer rental in Provincetown, MA. Forty years ago, she had a life-changing summer there, and she’s hoping to recapture the magic.

But her summer has an inauspicious start. First, one of her landlords refused to vacate the property, then she finds an abandoned baby on her doorstep. Ruth needn’t have worried about being lonely—soon her summer home is bursting at the seams, with an infant, the baby’s would-be adoptive mothers, Ruth’s estranged daughter, and her ex-husband. Once again, Ruth learns some important lessons about love. And motherhood, but is it too late to make amends with her own daughter?

SUMMER LONGING is a perfect summer beach read, with a few twists to make it more modern—not the least of which is romance among the 50+ set. #SummerLonging #NetGalley

You will definitely want to pack this book on your way to the beach. “...you can take something broken and turn it into something whole”, a major theme in this novel of second chances. Ruth moves to Provincetown after selling her business, wanting to start over. As she meets more of the locals, she becomes as involved in their stories as they do in hers. With characters you will love, and the feel and the smell of a beach in every word of the story, I highly recommend this great summer read. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

This was another great summer read by Jamie Brenner. The story takes the reader with Ruth, a retired business woman who is looking forward her retirement beginning in her summer rental, through the start of the next phase in her life. Things quickly change when a baby is left on the porch of her rental and this sparks a lot of the action of the story. This is Ruth's story, but also the story of many other characters who are all facing complications in their lives. Love, romance, family issues, fertility struggles, adoption and personal growth are all woven throughout this story set on the beautiful beachside Provincetown. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Successful businesswoman Ruth Cooperman has retired to Provincetown and is renting a home for the summer while waiting for the perfect place to come on the market. When someone leaves a baby on her doorstep, Ruth finds herself involved in the lives of the house's owners, Elise and Fern, who also own the shop Tea by the Sea. Ruth also realizes that she should try to mend her relationship with her daughter, Olivia, who has always felt that Ruth put career before motherhood. With a bit of subterfuge, Ruth is able to convince Olivia to come visit. Summer Longing details the lives of Ruth, Elise, and Olivia over one summer in this close-knit seaside town.

Another great book by a fine author of women’s fiction! I loved that the author dealt with a variety of relationships and characters that were finding their true selves. Ruth recently retired after selling her company and settled in Provincetown for a quiet summer in hopes of finally settling there. The story not only revolves around Ruth reconciling with her long lost daughter but there are many more storylines and relationships involved. Congrats to the author on another great beach read! #SummerLonging #JamieBrenner #NetGalley

Jamie Brenner's books could best be described as the feeling you get upon "coming home" - warmth, love and belonging. As an added bonus, Summer Longing features some cameo's from characters from The Forever Summer (but this is in no way a sequel).

Summer Longing brings us to Provincetown, New Jersey where we settle in with Ruth, Elise, Olivia, Amelia and a mystery baby. While the town comes together to raise this baby, they create their own family and warm their way into the hearts of one another - and the reader at the same time.

Brenner's books are always one of the highlights of my summer reading and Summer Longing certainly continued this - I can't wait for the rest of the world to be able to experience the magic of this book on May 5th.

Brenner's prior two books set the bar so high and this one didn't quite measure up. I'm sure fans will still find this work to be readable and enjoyable.

Another solid summer read by Jamie Brenner, quickly becoming one of my favorite beach read authors (though I have been lucky enough to get her books BEFORE summer). This one wasn't that different than the others and had the same chill, Ptown, Cape Cod vibe. I admit, the first few chapters were a little rough with the conflict that was happening with the house rental. I felt myself get up in arms about the situation and felt like I wanted to take action on behalf of Ruth. And I would have been 100% frustrated with Elise. However, as the story unfolded and more characters were introduced, I started to race through the book to find out what happens. I won't say more so I don't spoil it. I thank NetGalley and the author for my ARC.

Another great summer read by Jamie Brenner! This book will transport you to the beach town of Provincetown, where Ruth has rented a house and is spending the summer. But when someone leaves a baby on her doorstep, her summer takes a turn she didn't expect. This is a great story with interesting characters that will leave you hoping for a sequel. This is one story I didn't want to end! Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Ruth Cooperman has worked hard for what she has. A successful cosmetics company and plenty of money. But it has come at a high cost. Her daughter, Olivia, and her ex-husband Ben.

Now she is ready to begin a new chapter in her life. And what better place than Provincetown? Where she and Ben met and fell in love. Unable to find a home to purchase, she is renting Fern and Elise's home for the summer. They are happy to rent it our for the summer and live over their new Tea Shop.

When Ruth opens the door one morning she finds a baby. A very new baby in a carrier on the front porch!

When Elise and Fern take the baby no one could have expected how a group of women would bond over such a small thing.

This is a beautiful story of love, loss, redemption, and women raising up and caring for each other.

This is your summer read. But make sure you wear sunglasses because trust me, you are going to sob more than once. And laugh as well. I am so in love with this group of women and Provincetown. Oh, yes, this one touched my heart.

A perfect summer read! Ruth sells her company and decides to move to Provincetown (where she met her husband who she's divorced from)to begin her next chapter. She rents a house and finds that sometimes life throws you some curveballs. Loved this book and really want to see a sequel to find out what happens with my new "friends"
