A good story with a great developed character. What I love about the books in this series, it's the fact that most of them touch on serious and sensitive issues, especially for young kids, and how they deal with them while growing up. Can't wait for the next one!

As Jayden Jackson puts it, "he is friendless", and he likes it that way. His anger tends to get the best of him, but what happens when he meets someone who can see past his anger? This is a great middle-school age (and possibly upper elementary age) book about family and finding who you are. I can see a lot of my students connecting with Jayden or this book's themes in some way.

I received an digital ARC from NetGalley of What's the Matter with Jayden Jackson? in exchange for an honest review. Thanks, NetGalley!

This book did not disappoint. I was worried I was going to be disappointed with this one because I didn't quite get along with Amy Price for President. Well, let me tell you how fun I had reading this short book.

I loved Jayden's character development throughout the story. Eli deserved the world. I loved the character's backstories, even though they were a little sad. Speaking of, I did NOT expect to cry reading this!

Sorry for the short review, but I 100% recommend this.

Description
Hi-Lo. Four kids sit together at an outcast lunch table on the first day of middle school. Amy has a stutter, but wants to be class president. Maci would rather draw manga than talk to people. Eli is a pastor's kid who has been labeled as "goody two-shoes". Jayden often lashes out at people and gets upset in class, but he actually wants friends very badly. The kids have almost nothing in common, except one thing: they're the class weirdos. If they want to rise above their reputations, they're going to need to do it together.

A coming of age or maybe - a coming out of their shell story that revolves around 4 middle schoolers.. I'm not going to break each one down since the description does that pretty well already. I will say that it is well written, I loved the narrative, and the character development was spot on. I could really feel what these kids were going through and how they found a common ground. I truly enjoyed it.
