The Forgetting Flower is a well written and captivating story set in Paris. The main character, a young Polish woman named Renia, is the owner of a beautiful and mysterious plant. When bloomed and inhaled, the flowers cause you to forget...

I really enjoyed the premise of the story! I have a huge love for the African Violet and was immediately drawn to the cover. The characters are well written and the descriptions of Paris had me feeling as though I was there. Karen Huggs writing was beautiful ... I would definitely read more from this author.

Huge thank you to NetGalley and Magnolia Press for my review copy!

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book. This one didn't live up to my expectations, so unfortunately it was a miss for me.

I was expecting a little bit more from this book. A great idea and an awesome premise but the book fell flat for me. It just wasn’t what I was hoping for.

The Forgetting Flower was a full mystery for me. The premise sounded interesting, but it just fell flat.

The Forgetting Flower was a good read. At times when the main threat of the plot lulled, I was delighted with details about horticulture. I found the characters to be infuriating at times, but actually (and unfortunately) quite realistic. Most of their growth was wrapped up in the last chapter. The transitions into a flashback were not obvious enough for me and left me confused at times. While the plot was simple with a few surprises, I like that the author didn’t get distracted with leaping twists and connections just to get a shock. As the daughter of an avid gardener, I look forward to reading more of her books centered around horticulture.

It didn't have the wow factor. I was just waiting for something extraordinary to happen. I may just read to many books and expect more..
Renia has always dreamed of living in Paris. She had hoped that her sister Estera would join her but their past continues to haunt them and keep them apart. Renia has a love of flowers when she was working in her Uncle's greenhouses, but is tired of small town life and when an opportunity to work in a flower shop in Paris and live in the city she has always dreamed of, she can't refuse. She is devastated when her friend and the shop's best customer, Alain dies. She continues to reach out to her sister in hopes they can reconcile but to no avail. Renia has taken her sister's most prized possession, her plant Violet Smoke, whose flowers give off a scent that causes temporary amnesia. Desperate to hold on to the life she has built in Paris and with the lost income since Alain's passing,, she agrees to work with her sister's ex Zbiggy to sell the flowers to some shady characters. She soon realizes that she can't keep this up and is in fear of the damage the flowers can cause.
It was a fast paced book and a good main plot for the most part but i was just hoping for more. .I also felt that there were other story lines that could have been followed by the other characters that were introduced. I almost felt like it was unfinished and there could have been more.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I will say this about this book it was a different kind of mystery. Who knew horticultural could be so fascinating,
A strange plant, the Russian mob and a young Polish girl all make this mystery a page turner.

This is a short story. A little girl is possessed. Her father tracks down paranormal investigator Kana Cold and gets her to help. Kana and her partner, AJ, have a paranormal investigation business and they take the case.

It's a well written story, but not particularly imaginative. I have read similar plots

The main characters need to be fleshed out. I assume this will happen in future books.

However, my interest was piqued and I would try another book in this series

Renia and twin sister Estera long to escape their Polish family and Renia, at least, ends in Paris running a flower and nick-nacks shop for a bizarre woman. She has a secret though - keeping a rare hybrid plant whose aroma will erase memories. This was taken from Estera (I think) who had been drawn into a world of drugs and despair along with a manipulative and abusing boyfriend. We have a dead body, some unlikely policemen, a hideous shop manager who's raking off takings in order to continue her life of leisure and we have Renia. She takes a hell of a lot of flack from the manager and then takes even more from sister's boyfriend and sister and herself is being dragged down. They mostly seem to want the plant to get our of their respective pickles. Whilst I love plants and felt that the Violet Smoke had interesting potential I didn't like or want to be involved with any of the characters. They were simply annoying. Sorry. Thanks to NetGalley and Magnolia Press for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
