Eric & Beth - their names were so commonplace, but the mission not so much! Had fun with this story, even though I figured out the gist of the suspense part pretty quickly. They were a fun couple to read! Quick read, quick romance!

Beth’s undercover partner -Jeff- her current story was in the hospital and would be there for a week. She wondered how she might salvage what had promised to be a real scoop. There was something not right with these LoveFix Couples’ Retreats advertised all over the place. She and jeff had been researching the expensive counseling trips to an exotic island in the Carribean for nearly a year, and had turned up some suspicious information. She wasn’t sure what was going on there but her reporter instincts had her convinced that there was something wrong. What bothered Beth is no one seemed interested in the guy’s-Robert Hart- method or his credentials. Beth didn’t do relationships. Beth was all about her career these days. Beth worked for the Frisco Times. Than Beth heard an unfamiliar voice say he was looking for her. When she turned she saw a man who looked like he walked right out of her naughty fantasies. Beth needed to get out more. She said you found her and the man said your brother-older- Heath had sent him., Heath had tried to get a hold of her for a few days. Heath would get all over protective again. Beth loved her brother but he was like a shadow she couldn’t shake. He said he and heath were on the same Seal team. Any friend of her brother was definitely off-limits, no matter how hot. He said his name was Eric harvey. Beth was an investive journalist. Heath had asked Eric for a favor and Heath was a good friend and Eric considered his Seal team brothers like the siblings he never had. Eric had needed to get out of the house. Recovery after surgery after a bullet had wrecked his shoulder `had left him restless and bored. All of which had him dangerously tempted with whatever proposition Beth might have in mind- even if he knew chances were good were good he should stay out of it. He also found her more attractive than he should be. As Eric had been leaving had asked him to lunch and told him she had a proposition for him. She was exactly Eric’s type. Which means he should run as far and as fast from her luncheon invitation. But he did go to lunch with Beth. Eric didn’t do relationships. They involved too many messy emotions and too much trust.
Another great book by Ms. North. I loved Eric and Beth together and how they interacted. I also loved the plot and pace of this book. It was a great short read with nothing lacking. I loved the action, suspense, and intrigue. I loved how protective Eric was. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend it.

Whilst I "solved" the mystery early on in the story, and thought Eric could do better than the woman hell-bent on putting herself, and Eric at unnecessary risk, I still enjoyed this story. Good one to curl up with in the cooler weather, imagining more tropical surroundings, and a shirtless navy SEAL.

**I received a copy of Guarding His Pretend Wife from Relay Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions weren't solicited in any way.**

Guarding His Pretend Wife by Leslie North is the second book in her SEAL Endgame series. I really enjoyed the first book and wasn't disappointed with this one. There's one more coming out soon that I look forward to reading. This is Beth and Eric's story as they go to the Caribbean to expose a sham doctor.

Beth William has just found out that her partner has come down with Hep A and she needs someone to replace him by tomorrow. She knows that something doesn't feel right with LoveFix Retreats and she's not giving up until the expose is published. Now how is she going to find another guy to go with her by tomorrow?

Eric Harvey is on medical leave due to shoulder surgery from the SEALs when Beth's brother, Heath, asks him to check up on Beth. Little does he know he'll soon be on a airplane to the Caribbean to help Beth find the truth about a resort that looks to good to be true. When secrets are brought to light Eric will make sure that Dr. Hart will go to jail for a long time.

The language and general tone just weren't for me. That doesn't mean other people won't love it, it just means that I like a slow-burn and a bit of "something to discover," and having the heroine picture leaning over her desk with the hero in the first few pages just shut my enjoyment all the way down. It was purposefully crass, which is a style of writing some people seem to very much enjoy. (And I've seen that done well, before, too, but in this instance, it felt very forced form the get-go.) For me, it lacked subtlety and intricacy, and I struggled to get into it at all. I've given it three stars because it was clear it had been edited for linguistic polish and had a clear plot, and again, because it's probably exactly what someone else is looking for. If this is your niche, you'll love this book.

Journalist Beth Williams is preparing to break a huge story about an exclusive couples-only retreat when her colleague becomes ill and won't be able to assist her by pretending to be her husband. Her brother's SEAL buddy, Eric Harvey stops by to check on her when she gets a new brilliant idea.

Eric is on medical leave and bored out of his mind. So when Beth propositions him to go on this trip as her pretend husband he agrees.

As the two get closer to finding out answers a mutual attraction develops. Even though Eric's brain tells him that his buddy's sister is off limits, his other body parts think differently. Once it becomes obvious someone is trying to harm Beth Eric’s protective instincts go into high gear. The pretend relationship quickly turns into much more.

Way to ruin a perfectly good retreat people. Just the thought that a place could exists like this is scary to me. With today's technology it's not unbelievable.
I liked, Guarding His Pretend Wife. Eric and Beth are too cute together. She sure does get into a lot of trouble though. Must be the Journalism part of her coming out.

This is novella sized ( I feel) and is a quick continuation of book one in this series. It isn’t the best but isn’t the worst, it starts out more interesting than it ends. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.
