Dark and Deadly by Tee O’Fallon is intense both in the romance and the suspense. Tee was an officer and there are several details throughout the book that prove this.

Tess and her brother Jesse had an unusual and traumatic past. This justified some of Tess’s decisions.
Eric is dreamy. I truly enjoyed his character. And of course you cannot help but love Tiger, his K9. Enjoyed how the author created scenes between Eric and Jesse and Tiger.

I enjoyed the scenes between Tess and Eric after she moves in and tries to bring some color into this life. I found it interesting how the author brought their personalities to life through their surroundings.

And there was enough of Dayne’s personality and intrigue to have me already looking for when his book is coming out.
If you enjoy heros and their K9 and a story full of danger and romance you will enjoy Dark N Deadly.

Sexual content – 4 several scenes with great detail.
Violence – both past and present but not graphic detail
Language – 4
Drinking – little to no drinking

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

Full of action and intrigue from page one! DARK 'N' DEADLY is the third book in Tee O'Fallon's Federal K-9 series and revolves around an ATF Special Agent and a woman out to protect her little brother in a quasi reunion/enemies to lovers story.

Eric was quick to command attention from the very beginning when he listens to his gut instinct and pulls over a suspicious truck. He's a well developed character with a past that haunts him and that has led him to this place looking for revenge and justice.

Tess is a strong, independent woman who will do anything to get her little brother out of trouble. She failed him in the past, and she won't be able to live with herself if she does it again. Secrets just might be her downfall with Eric ... but will it be worth it if she saves her brother?

I highly recommend this story to anyone loving an action packed mystery filled with intrigue, romance and camaraderie. The entire series has been attention grabbing, but this one stole my heart as my fav so far!

Fab romantic suspense and adorable canines…

This was another great entry in the Federal K-9 series! Each story has been full of strong characters with heart, including the four-legged variety. A cadre of friends with K-9’s at the core, each of them finding love even as danger lurks…

Eric lost colleagues, friends, to a bomber. A loss he has never been able to let go. He needed the perpetrator brought to justice but he is still the one that got away. Through mutual friends, Tess was not a stranger, but when she crossed his path again, things were different. She needed help but his need for revenge going to mess with feelings he refused to give into…

Tess didn’t keep the darkness of her past at the forefront. Instead, she brought light to Eric’s decidedly black/grey world. Haunted by long-held fears and regret, she was determined to move forward with her small family intact. Eric blew hot and cold but at the end of the day, she knew he could be her one…

I loved this story that was equally balanced in romance and suspense. The storyline was intriguing, with lots of people to cheer and jeer for, with secrets threatening to blow everything up (no pun intended). If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend you do!

Dark 'N' Deadly is the third book in Tee O'Fallon's Federal K-9 series. Apart from being a great series, I love that even though each book is technically a standalone, they all build on one another. So a new reader will still thoroughly enjoy and understand the story and characters, but those of us who have been there from the beginning experience a much more vibrant background and understanding that only enhances the already incredible storyline.

Dark 'N' Deadly examines domestic terrorism in the form of an extremist group (almost a cult) against the American Government. It also looks closely at child abuse, slavery, and sexual exploitation. Heavy topics, but written in such a way that takes nothing from the seriousness of the subjects, but does not make the story heavy or depressing. At its heart, the story is a romantic suspense/action novel and does not rely upon a heavily dramatic storyline to propel it.

I always find that I am quickly engrossed in a Federal K-9 novel. Every time, I pick up one of the books thinking I'll just read a couple of chapters and then go do what I need to. That couple of chapters leads to at least half a dozen or more, and then I find myself making excuses to read 'just one more'. This author's writing style and story crafting ability reels me in.

Despite my best intentions, I am not at my best until I've devoured the lot. I can't even really pinpoint what it is. The dogs are a huge factor; I love stories where the animal has a leading role and a personality of his/her own. I guess I'm always a sucker for the alpha male, who thinks he's not interested in anything serious, gradually realising that the right person will only enhance, not restrict his life. Of course, there is also the strong female role that is tough enough on to take all the crap the alpha male will give her, but still be soft and persistent enough to break through his walls.

I guess what it comes down to is an exciting and challenging storyline, strong lead characters that I genuinely like, and dogs with attitude!
If you enjoy a character-driven romantic suspense/action story that has dogs taking an active role in the story, then you will love Tee O'Fallon's Federal K-9 series as much as I do. Dark 'N' Deadly was a fantastic instalment to this series that built on the world created already created in the first books and introduced new characters to fall in love with. All while expanding on the humans and dogs you already love.

I’d highly recommend it.

This was my first read from Tee O'Fallon and I am happy that I found a new romantic suspense author to add to my collection. Even though this is the third book in her Federal K-9 series, the story is stand-alone. So you don't have to read the others first. Although, now I think I will go back and read them!

This is the story of ATF Agent Eric and Tess, whose brother finds himself in legal trouble. Eric and Tess first met in a previous story and this is several months later. They have an opposites-attract kind of thing and find themselves working together to prevent a bombing. They have baggage and Tess has a traumatic childhood that creates obstacles for them. I would probably classify this as more romantic action than suspense.

I had the opportunity to read an early copy in exchange for an honest review.

Oh the action this book has! We get to see Tess and Eric's story come together. In the previous book we found they had a connection, not acted upon, but the start of one. Now we see how they really feel and how they become a couple. I loved the strength Tess had and her determination to help and protect her brother. Tess and her brother had been separated but found each other again. Their story is a sad and hurtful one, but thankfully their bond restrengthens as they find one another again. Thankfully Eric is there to help. Tess and Jesse become important to Eric and he finds himself in an overprotective mode, much to his chagrin. Their story is action packed, with violence and hot loving. They learn the truth about each other, develop mutual respect and admiration, and truly want to be together. This is another great addition to the series. And as a bonus you get to see Eric's law enforcement K-9 brothers again!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

It's impossible not to love anything by Tee O'Fallon. I first fell in love with her writing style with Blood Money. She has this way of blending suspense and intrigue together that bleeds into the romance rather than depending on it. Every element has a purpose and you can't help but be hooked by the story. In Dark 'n' Deadly, each action had a realistic reaction and the secrets that were destined to be revealed held so much weight, giving this story its heft and its depth, allowing the characters to grow and evolve, letting what developed seem almost natural.

If you like your romance to be high in suspense and love, you'll love the story of Eric and Tess and the mess she created and the mess he cleaned up. It was filled with moments of sweetness, fear, love, and it made for some amazing entertainment.

This book was everything I hoped it would be. The plot was fast paced. The characters were well defined & identifiable. The K9’s were shown in both their intense, focused work mode & their happy, playful “at rest” mode. Tess was trying to escape everything about her childhood except her brother Jess. She wasn’t about to tell anyone her history, not even Eric. Eric was injured & his friends killed in an explosion engineered by the man he was still chasing. He’d do anything to catch him but nothing has stuck. When he’s pulled into helping Tess with her brother, he doesn’t believe it may lead to what he wants. The chemistry between Tess & Eric is hot & they can’t resist each other. Can they find a way to stay safe & get the bad guy?

Guys. I LOVED this book! I was hoping that Eric would be next (with Tess) and here we finally are . . . It was so worth waiting for!

Tee O'Fallon is one of the best romantic suspense writers out there, and her work is filled with believable but not overwhelming detail, which gives foundation and credence to the suspense while never stifling the romance. And the romance in Dark 'N' Deadly was slow-burn goodness with palpable chemistry and will-they-won't-they moments that left me wanting to read one more chapter, one more chapter, one more chapter until the very end.

If you're sleeping on one of the most engaging, exciting and sexy romantic suspense series going around—it has dogs, BTW, which just makes it that much better—then please consider this your wake-up call. You NEED these alpha men and strong women and adorable but crazy-smart and brave dogs in your life. You can thank me for being your alarm after you've caught up.

This may be book 3 in the Federal K-9 series but it can absolutely be read as a stand alone and still understood. However, I do recommend the previous books because they did introduce these 2 characters and they are just great reads. In this one we get Eric Miller and Tess McTavish story. Eric works for the ATF and pulls over Tess's little brother in a truck that is full of explosives. Tess drops everything and comes to try to get her brother out of trouble, and hopefully disappear again before they are found. Little does she know, the minute she came to help she was already found and in danger. And Eric doesn't know yet exactly what is going on yet, but he has a feeling that it has to do with the man he wants to bring down more than anything. Now he has to decide between revenge and keeping Tess and her brother safe.

I absolutely loved this one! Eric is this stand up, sweet, alpha man who has demons that he still has to face. But it really doesn't stop him from doing what he needs to or figuring out what he needs to be happy. Tess went through so much growing up but she still manages to keep a light in her that I loved! The fact that she doesn't let those things hold her back and is still trying to make her dreams come true all while trying to help her brother-loved everything about her!! This book had suspense but it also had a couple that truly falls in love and realizes exactly what they need to do in order to make a true future for themselves.

*I received a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review through Netgalley.

I've been missing suspenseful romances lately and decided to request a copy of this one even though it's the third in the series. It can definitely be read as a standalone, though some previous couples/characters were clearly explored and established in previous series.

This is my first Tee O'Fallon book and I was definitely drawn to it by the cover! I did not realize that that book would take place in New Jersey which was an interesting little surprise for me, an NJ librarian.

I feel like O'Fallon sort of made a big deal about the protagonists, Tess and Eric, having a "previous relationship"...even though they didn't actually have a relationship. It seems like they just had the hots for each other but were too shy to chase after one another. I think K-9s are very cool and it was interesting that Eric commands Tiger in what I am assuming is German.

Tess and Eric have had very troubling childhoods--Tess more so, in my opinion (a victim of abuse and meant to be given to her stepfather's friend at age 18). But Eric of course balances out the angst with having witnessed the death of his own friends/colleagues while he survived. The unfortunate connection between them is quite obvious...

Overall, a fun and steamy read that has just enough action to keep you on your toes.

*Content/trigger warnings: Depictions of unwanted sexual advances (groping).

OMG, what is not to live about this book, now first off I'm a dog lover and so of course Tiger is going to be my fave character, and then Eric and Tess, this is an exciting and thrilling story with plenty of action to keep you entertained, looks like I will be ch3cking out the other books in the series.

I received a copy from Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion second

Dark ‘N Deadly is book three in Tee O’Fallon’s Federal K-9 series. I can tell you that these books can be read as standalone titles because this is the first one I’ve read in the series and had I not known there were other books, I would have assumed it was a standalone book. However, I’m a fan of series books so I’m always going to recommend you read them in order because I feel like you get more out of each book. So, at some point, I’ll be going back to read books one and two because I really liked this book. And I’ll tell you why!

I love romantic suspense. I’ve always loved romance books but Nora Roberts’ Hidden Riches made me fall in love with romantic suspense. (It still tops the list as one of my all-time favorite books!) And while contemporary romance, military romance, and romantic comedies are all great reads, romantic suspense is my #1 favorite subgenre in romance books.

So…Dark ‘N Deadly… With one phone call, Tess is yanked back into a past that she had very nearly not escaped from. Only this time, it’s a lot more dangerous and a lot more complicated than it ever was. And while she’s thrilled her little brother is back in her life, she’s not so thrilled (or maybe too thrilled when she shouldn’t be) to have ATF Special Agent Eric Miller and his K-9 partner, Tiger, in her life. With both Tess and her little brother, Jesse’s lives on the line, will Eric and his team be able to save them, themselves, and potentially countless others in time?

NICUnurse’s Rating: As far as romantic suspense goes, this book had all the right elements and the plot unfolded in all the right ways. It had a complicated but inherently good hero and heroine, a complicated storyline that unfolded just enough with each chapter that it drug the reader (that’s me, btw) deeper and deeper into the mystery without a huge information dump to confuse or make the reader lose interest, and a plot twist you don’t quite see coming but isn’t so far out in left field it feels like it doesn’t belong in the story at all. Looks like it’s three for the win with this book: 3 great plot elements, 3 great main characters, and it’s the 3rd book in the series so we’ll just call Dark ‘N Deadly a triple threat!

I give Dark ‘N Deadly by Tee O’Fallon 4.5 out of 5 stars!

Tess bolted up in bed, her cell was ringing. Alabama. Was this the one call she waited ten long years to get? Than tess answered and it was Jesse. Her heart pounded with pure joy. He said he couldn’t talk long. Things were messed up. He wanted out. Then he said he had to go and hung up with a police siren wailing in the background. She didn’t want to sever the only link between her and her brother. There was no mistaking the panic and her brother’s voice and she didn’t know where he was. If what she suspecting was the motivation forces behind Jesse’s call, after all this time, it could mean one thing. Evil was coming after him, and soon it would come for her. Tiger was Eric’s Knine. Eric was on a high speed chase of a pickup truck. But there was no way the pickup truck could lose the Interceptor. Atf agents didn’t normally do car stops or high speed chases, but the four fifty five gallon drums in the back of the truck said around with enough momentum to launch them right over the tailgate crashing into someone’s windshield. Eric had worked out of the Birmingham RAC offices for nine years. The truck finally pulled over as Eric was at the tailgate, he knew something was off. He could taste it. He could feel it in his bones, as he went to the window he saw it was just a kid with a shock of curly red hair. Eric had only seen hair this vibrant once before in his life and it had been on a woman. The kid had a stack of papers on his lap- a diversionary tactic used by sovereign citizens and the very thing that had been the very thing that had gotten two police officers killed in Arkansas. But sovereign citizens were few and far between in New Jersey. He glanced at the back of the pickup but none was there, but something was so off it made the hair on the back of his neck stand up even straighter. Eric told the boy to get out his license, registration, and proof of insurance. The boy said he had papers and thrust them at Eric’s chest. Than the boy took off running. He ran in pursuit and let his KNine out as he started down the hill, Tiger flew past him. Than eric heard a human cry out when he got to Tiger he had the boy by his leg. He found on the boy a picture of the boy with a girl. Then he turned the picture over and saw jesse and tess written on it. When asked his last name he said Mctavish. Tess’s brother - the woman he had once wanted so bad he couldn’t think straight. A woman he’s never so much as lissed, yet she still plagues his dreams . he read jess his rights than asked him how old he was and he said eighteen. He asked him why he ran and he said he didn’t have a licence. Eric thought bull pooh. It didn’t take a world class detective to see the boy was lying his butt off. As he checked out the truth, he was more and more convinced there was a boatload more going on here than an unlicensed driver. He looked at two seams of plastic between the steering wheel and radio portion of the dashboard. He found a hidden gun This is bad. He had run in in Birmingham, someone who hid his gun this way, Harley Gant. The sovereign citizen leader who had murdered his friends and got away with it. Than Tiger gave his signal that there was something he wanted Eric to see. Explosive material. When sovereign citizens and explosives get together …. people died. Tess peeled up to the three story courthouse. Somewhere inside was her baby brother that she’d abandoned ten year ago. She thought he must hate her. She had thought of taking him with her but with no money to buy food and clothes, and put a roof over their head it seemed prudent to leave him where he was until she was settled and had a job. When the time came she found a way to secretly give him money and make sure he had her cell phone number. And email address., but he’d never responded to any of her messages and never reached out to her five hours ago. Right before getting arrested. Regardless of how she tried to make things right with him, guilt still ate at her. The plan was to get more information on the charges Jesse faced and find a way to pay his bail, so he didn’t have to spend a single night in jail. She owed him that much. Like it or not she was about to face her past, one she’d worked hard to put it behind her. Of all the people who could stand between brother and serious jail time why oh why Eric Miller? It had been nine months since she’d seen Eric. When she had left Springfield this morning, to wake her boss and best friend Andi for some help. So she left a cryptic message. Her family issues would choke a wild boar. When in the courthouse she was lead to a room and jesse was there and sad, he said “Tessie” with tears going down his cheeks. She vowed right then and there never to leave him again. No matter what hoops she had to jump through, she’d find a way to get him out of this mess. It wouldn’t be easy as she knew darn well her stepfather orchestrated it. Jesse whispered to her “He never hurt me , he took it all out on you. When you ran away, he went crazier than an outhouse rat. If you stayed, he would have killed you. Or even worse things would have happened.” As Eric came into the room and said “Tess”, Tess knew it was still there. It being the snap-crackle- and pop that ignited fireworks whenever they were together. Linking them in a way she didn’t understand.
A great read. I really enjoyed it. I loved the pace and plot. At first I wasn’t sure I'd enjoy this book. But after the first few pages it drew me in until the end. Which i loved. So sad when kids don’t have love from their parents/step parents growing up. Or lose the one loving parent they had ever known and the step parent is horrible. It tends to warp ideas as the child ages. This book showed that. I also loved the use of the Knine dogs and shows how the dogs change from work to non-work time. I loved Eric and tess together and how they interacted. I loved how Eric took to both Tess and Jesse. I didn’t want to put this down once I really got started on it, and only did when I had to. I loved the danger, action, agents, Knines, and everything else that went into making this book. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

What can I say? I really like those K9-dogs with their hot officers. So, after Lock 'n Load and Armed 'n Ready I was very happy to see Dark 'n Deadly. This time it is about Andi's friend Tess McTavish, who gets a call from her brother Jesse after ten years. Tess has escaped from her abusive stepfather at eighteen, only having to leave her baby brother of eight behind. But now, her brother was supposed to drop off a shipment, and he was caught red handed by Eric, the stick-to-the-rules officer, who lost his friends due to an attack by one of the baddest mafioso guys from the neighborhood.
Ever since, Eric has been brooding on revenge. When he arrests Jesse, a young boy, who was driving around the same type of explosives which killed his friends, he knows that Jesse and Tess are hiding something.
Tess doesn't want to trust the annoyingly handsome officer, who has been her and her brother's rescuer. Because all the men in her life have betrayed her and abused her. But now she has to stay at Eric's place with her brother, until they can figure out who has ordered the shipment with the explosives.
A story full of suspense, family ties and revenge. Heart breaking, wonderful and sweet. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

First book I read in this series and won't surely be the last.
It's strong and intense story, with well written characters, and an engrossing and entertaining plot.
I rooted for the characters and I appreciated how well written they are.
Can't wait to read the next instalment in this series.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Another great suspense filled story from Tee! Just enough tension between the characters, one incredible K-9 and stellar writing. Eric is a federal agent along with his K-9 partner Tiger.
Tess is a woman with a past she's hiding from, one that she's put behind her and hopes never to revisit. When her young brother she had to leave behind in Alabama is caught driving a truck with explosives he calls Tess. Tess of course goes and there she meets Eric again. The two have a little history, she's the woman that Eric would never allow him to have. Eric wants to believe her brother is telling the truth about not knowing what he was driving, adding to that his sister instructs him not to bring up their past, at all. So they both withhold their history, as terrible as it was in Alabama. Eric knows there's a terrorist cell there. He knows because one of their bombs killed his friends and severely injured him. Eric makes the decision to bring them to his house to keep an eye on them, keep them safe and await the lab conclusion for the contents of the drums the kid was hauling. While Tess is all about vivid color, crystals and yoga, Eric is black, white and grey. In fact his whole house is black, white and grey. He says it's less chaotic. His manner is black and white, no grey. But he loves Tess's color and the light she brings to his life. He just doesn't allow himself to go there. Tiger and Tess's brother develop a kindred relationship and Eric even teaches him commands and how the dogs are trained.
The plot thickens from there and it's a suspenseful, didn't see that coming, series of twists and turns along with the further developing sexual tension between Eric and Tess. Tension boils over, truths are told, stories are pieced together and there are many an angry word spewed.
This wasn't my favorite book from Tee, but it's still a 4.5 from me.

Another freaking awesome book from an author who is quickly becoming one of my favourites. It checks off all my boxes. Law enforcement/ military romantic suspense ✅✅. Fantastic storyline✅. Great, well developed characters✅, and action-packed✅.

Dark ‘N’ Deadly is the third book in Tee O’Fallon’s Federal K-9 series. This is a HEA story that can be read as a standalone, but it is best enjoyed when read in order. O’Fallon does a great job linking characters and storylines from the previous books in this series, and it keeps the readers wanting more. I can’t wait for book four! Dayne? Katrina? Is your story next?

I love this author. She writes with a wealth of knowledge that adds to reader's experience. Her books are well developed and she creates strong characters that are relatable. Eric and Tess have a great story to tell. The baggage they carry between them could fill a cargo hold. Somehow, despite everything they matter to each other. Filled with action, gritty realism, romance and fabulous canines, this is a book that will go on your keep shelf.

When I first started Federal K-9 series I wasn't convinced it was end up being the same story over and over again. The author has found a flow to her stories each one writing style, story and flow improves. Readers will find themselves wanting excited for the next book in the series.

The story follows the traditional best friends little sister romance story line but it takes a twist that readers will given to them right away. Yet they find themselves invested in the different characters.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of Tee O'Fallon Dark n' Deadly.
