This sweet, funny, sexy and hilarious awkward romance left me smiling from ear to ear. This couple really shouldn’t work, but somehow they do, and I loved it! Their awkwardness made for some very funny banter and odd but cute flirting. Awk-Weird will steal your heart!

Tess is fact-spouting florist who has not had the most fantastic of relationships with her family. She’s made her own family with a close knit group of friends but even then, she’s waiting for the other shoe to drop, for them to leave. After all, in Tess’s world, no one ever sticks around and everything and everyone are temporary. After her traumatic and distant childhood, Tess has guarded herself as an adult by being awkward and as invisible as possible.

Cole is not a fan of change. Every aspect of his life is ruled by routine and a strict regimen and it works for him until colorful Tess enters his life and stirs things up a little bit. I kind of love how he was with her, how he found her awkwardness endearing rather than annoying, and especially how he really stepped up to the plate and never balked at his responsibilities when needed. He was just such a good character.

With Tess and her issues and Cole still believing he’s in love with his ex, there’s a lot of confusion and frankly, hot sex, to be had as they work out the dynamics of their relationship. There’s really not much I didn’t like about this book apart from the fact that Cole still seemed hung up on his ex over half a year since she dumped him.

Can’t wait for the next installment in this series!

I haven't read to many Avery Flynn books, but this book had me hooked... I Freaking loved it
Two opposite characters, one a nerd and one a jock. One quotes weird and random facts when she gets nervous and the other one is OCD about no changes to his life, sticking to routine and no changes at all.

I loved Tess, she was sweet (sometimes) feisty, funny but she had a tough life and my heart just broke for her past life. Cole man he didn't have it easy all the time, moving around all the time when he was younger and now he just wants things stable and want to stick to one routine with no blindsiding or anything... Well he was in for a rude surprise....

This book will have you laughing out loud, some parts angry, some parts seriously pissed off and other parts melting your heart and #sigh. The banter and chemistry between these two characters will you have you wanting to just squash them together... lol...I hope there is more in this series, definitely can't wait to read more.

This is the first book I have read by Avery Flynn but I don’t plan on it being my last. As should be indicated by the cover, this story is ‘all kinds’ of funny. Tess and Cole are some of the quirkiest characters I have ever read. Which is what makes me love them more.

Tess is a funny girl that knows A LOT about ‘random facts’. Plan for plenty of laugh out loud moments by the things that come out her mouth and her hilarious thoughts. I love this character and even the brokenness part of her is endearing and I just wanna give her a hug.

Cole, Cole, Cole... you crack me up too, aka Thor-lookalike. Tess’ summation. SO FUNNY! I love this guy! He is a routine, schedule kind of guy who has a hard time varying from his need for a predictability to his day/life. Yes you will discover it is a reflection of his life as a child.

If I had to sum up this book, nerd, flower-shop girl meets painstakingly disciplined, hot hockey player. Add a major surprise after a hot hook-up and whoo-whee hang on. This is a funny, touching, and even emotional read. Oh did I mention SEXY. Ummm plan for some ‘HOLY HOTNESS’ moments between these two. Fanning myself.

Most surprising about this story is how you see these characters evolve and change the negative message from their childhood. It was impressive how this author could take you to that place and still maintain the over the top funny that this book brings.

So Yeah. Love this book and it is definitely five star worthy. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

Adore Tess and Cole! They are sweetly broken in the most heart string pulling way, the perfect pair to repair each other in all the best ways. She is quirky, fun, brilliant and most defiantly my soul sister.... He is sexy, exciting, controlling and engagingly unique, which makes them perfectly endearing. Loved this fun, witty and heart racing adventure!

I absolutely loved this story written by Avery Flynn and I can not recommend it enough to others. This story had such a great amount of emotion written within it that I felt alongside the characters. There were parts in the story where I was laughing out loud at what the characters got up to and then other parts that I felt like my heart was breaking for their difficult pasts. These two characters were complete opposites form each other but thats what made them perfect for each other.

Tess was such a fun and quirky character that I absolutely loved within this story. I loved the way that she had random facts about everything and the way she would randomly share them with others.

Cole I absolutely loved throughout the story and I loved the way that we got to read his point of view. Cole was set in his ways and his routines but I loved the way that he was learning how to accept changes in his life.

I really loved this story and I found that the story was such a fun read. I really enjoyed the secondary characters in the story and especially Kahn. This book is a must read for everyone that is looking for a funny read with a mix of emotion throughout it.

This was my first book I read of Avery Flynn and it definitely won't be my last. I loved her writing and the storyline.

Awk-weird was fun, quirky and adorable with great chemistry. When I started reading this book I couldn't help but giggle and smile and couldn't stop. Tess was my favorite, she was cute, nerdy and adorable and I just wanted to jump into the pages and become best friends with her.

I would say that Avery Flynn put a perfect RomCom into book format.

The second, standalone book in Avery Flynn’s Ice Knights, Awk-Weird, is a charming, sexy romance. Tess is a socially awkward florist who has a steamy one night stand with a tightly-wound professional hockey player, Cole. Their unforgettable night ends with a surprise pregnancy, but it also launches an entertaining journey to happily ever after. Tess and Cole are adorable as they navigate their soon-to-be-parents status while also getting to know each other and dealing with their rapidly escalating feelings for one another. They both have to step out of their comfort zones as they fall head over heels in love, and it’s both romantic and endearing when they do. You’ll giggle, smile and sigh as you read this heartwarming love story with characters you won’t forget.

I’m not gonna lie, most of the time Avery is a hit or miss and I never really know which way it’s gonna go. So I read most of her books LOL because even when they’re a miss, they don’t miss out of the park. This was a hit!

If there’s one thing I know that Avery can do well is quirky. As soon as I saw this title, I was all in. I didn’t even need to read the synopsis LOL And it worked for both Cole and Tess! That’s the greatest part! We don’t ever think as jocks as being awk-weird but Cole totally was! And obviously I don’t have to tell you our little trivia superstar book nerd fit the bill as well! These two were fantastic !!

Tess has a lot of baggage. Baggage that doesn’t really allow her to trust that someone is going to love her enough to stay. I wouldn’t say that Cole comes into the picture with baggage, but boy does he come into it with some serious quirks(lol). They made a super funny couple and it was a joy to read all the shenanigans, especially Cole’s superstitious behaviors. And he has some serious one LOL, but that’s part of the world of any professional athlete, especial in hockey!

If you’re looking for a fun afternoon read, then one-click away, this one will not disappoint!

This might be the first book I want to write a full length review aka book report that I hate reading/doing. This book had so much going on it was a huge emotional overload.

My heart was breaking everytime Tess thought eventually everyone moves on. She had HUGE abandonment issues thinking she was not worth the fuss of staying around. Cole and his OCD with the need that everything-should-stay-the-same almost cost him everything he never knew he wanted.

This book was funny at the beginning, heartbreaking in the middle and oh so sweet by the end. It left me with a smile on my face and just wanting to re-read it right away.

I loved this book! Awk-weird is the second book in Avery Flynn's Ice Knights series, but it can be read as a complete standalone. Tess and Cole meet at a friend's wedding and proceed to get ~weddinged~. A month later Tess realizes that they also got a little gift from the wedding - she's pregnant!

I loved reading how Tess and Cole's relationship progressed. I was super happy that there was no insta-love. It made the story much more believable. Cole was endearing with all of his plans, even though he drove me crazy sometimes. Tess was adorably awk-weird and I loved it.

This is my new favorite Avery Flynn book and I definitely recommend it!

Awk-Weird is a wonderful contemporary romance filled with comedy, romance, and pure joy and fun. Tess is a wonderfully awkward nerd who spouts random facts, especially when she's nervous, uncomfortable, or stressed. When Tess hooks up with hockey player Cole (Thor's twin) at Lucy and Frankie's wedding after an inpromptu trivia contest, Tess and Cole go their separate ways. Except, in nine months they are going to be parents. Tess isn't Cole's type and Cole isn't Tess's type - or are they exactly what each other needs and have been looking for?

I loved Tess and Cole's story. They are two unlikely people brought together in a fun and entertaining story filled with realism and emotion. Tess is quiet and sweet; Cole is a hockey player. Tess and Cole have extremely different backgrounds and were raised rather differently, as well. In an age where not everyone who has children together get married, the author built Tess and Cole's story around trying to figure out how to be co-parents first then had them realize they want to be together for love and for their soon-to-be little family. Of course, they needed help from their friends in the form of having Tess live with Cole while her depressing little apartment was repaired by her slimy landlord, who also happened to be her uncle. I enjoyed the path the author took Tess and Cole on in order find their happily-ever-after.

Avery Flynn is a wonderful storyteller with unique characters, themes, and settings. Her stories pull you in and keep you thoroughly engaged and entertained. I have enjoyed both books in the Ice Knights series and look forward to the next book - especially since chapter one follows the end of Awk-Weird.

I was given a copy of this book to read.

Awk-Weird by Avery Flynn is a sweet, heartfelt read and I really enjoyed it.

The storyline is well written, it entertaining from start to end and all the characters helped make this an enjoyable read.

Tess and Cole are both likable, passionate, fun characters with great chemistry and I loved watching them come together.
Tess has had a hard upbringing and suffers from abandonment issues, I liked how patient and understanding Cole is and how determined he was to make her trust him.
Their road to happily ever after took a little time but they totally deserved it.

Overall, Awk-Weird is a heartwarming read and a lovely addition to the Ice Knights series.

A one night stand that leads to a surprise pregnancy is the basis of this romantic comedy by Avery Flynn. This is one of my favorite tropes and I’m not sure why because unplanned pregnancies are scary and when I had one it was no where near romantic or comedic but somehow authors can pull it off. Awk-Weird is the second book in the Ice Knights series but it can definitly be read as a stand alone.

Having never read a book by Avery Flynn, I now see why she’s a relatively big name in New Adult Romantic Comedy. Tess and Cole had me beyond sexually frustrated. They had already gotten pregnant and already living together so depriving not only themselves but me as well was really cruel. It wasn’t all fun and games either. Tess is so self deprecating due to her child hood that she doesn’t see what is literally right in front of here which leads to a few heartbreaking chapters.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (5 out of 5 stars) Avery Flynn has the potential to become a new favorite of mine. I actually have a few of her other books on my Kindle that I will definitly be moving to the top of my TBR. Tess and Cole’s story was absolutely beautiful and had all the feels.

Surprise pregnancy - check! Forced proximity - check! Hockey goodness - check! And for a bonus an adorably devilish kitten named Kahn! I truly enjoyed Awk-Weird. I'm a fan of the series connection to The Hartigans as well and was super happy to see all of the cameos (and am stoked for Petrov's story in Loud Mouth next). I related to the nomadic childhood of Collins and sympathized with Tess'. Their chemistry and mutual love of trivia was an immediate pull for me but I was so not ready for the angst! The way they both fell for each other but failed to communicate AND denied it to themselves drove me NUTS. It also kept me turning the pages, so what are you gonna do? I think the steamy bits here may have beat out the ones in Parental Guidance and those were intensely (and gloriously) hot. My only slight issue was the repetitive use of the word "awk-weird" and the fact that I didn't think that Tess was all that weird to begin with. It might just be semantics, but I found her to be anxious and self-protective (and perhaps slightly neurotic), but it was totally understandable given her traumatizing childhood. Other than that, I'll take a book on every Ice Knight if Avery Flynn wants to keep writing them! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.

Awk-Weird by Avery Flynn, the second book in the Ice Knights series, and an opposites attract romance, that was funny, light and left me feeling happy. I loved that the characters were not perfect and yet they were perfect together. Tess is awkward, a bit nerdy and her life is sometimes a mess. Cole is a hot as sin hockey player who likes to have everything orderly and controlled. And yet together they just mix well.

When a night of hot and steamy sex leaves them with long-lasting consequences, what are they to do? I loved watching their story unfold and how it affected both of them. I absolutely loved reading Awk-Weird by Avery Flynn. The characters were fun and delightful and their story captivated me from start to finish. This book was so freaking fun and charming.

Tess and Cole are both delightfully weird, broken, and adorable. I loved their meet-cute, and thought it amazing how will they fit together. Perhaps not what either would have chosen for themselves, the forced association of the pregnancy and close proximity of living together gave them much opportunity to discover how perfect they were for one another. Despite themselves, they formed a real strong bond and were well on their way to developing a great relationship. But since neither of them was truly honest with themselves, let alone each other, it was no wonder that they had so much difficulty. I did get real tired of Tess professing ceaselessly who their situation was just temporary, and Cole always talking about his ex-girlfriend who was sure to come back. There could have been half as much of that in the book and it still would have felt like we got hit over the head with them. We could have entirely skipped the last couple of chapters and gotten the same result. And I absolutely did not like the fact that the situation with Marti was never addressed between them. But overall this was a darling tale, and I’d be interested to read others in this series and/or by this author.

Awk-weird has my absolute favourite type of protagonists – the awkward, nerdy, geeky, utterly adorable type. Both the heroine and the hero have the most adorable quirks, but unfortunately, these idiosyncrasies are also partly to blame for their emotional barriers🙁

Tess and Cole meet at a wedding where they instantly bond over their shared knowledge of random trivia, while the attraction between them is a slow simmer in the background. However, a turn around the dance floor sets their attraction from simmer to boiling point resulting in a wild night of passion. Although neither are mentally and emotionally in the right place to consider their encounter past that one night. Nonetheless, fate has other plans for the mismatched pair.

Surprisingly, both Tess and Coles issues are remarkably similar and stem from the way in which they grew up. It always surprises me how much emotional damage is inflicted during childhood, whether intentional or not. My personal quote has been ‘Like the ebb and flow of the tide, change is inevitable, it is how we adjust to the change that truly defines us.’ This phrase couldn’t be more perfect to describe the approach Tess and Cole have to specific aspects of their lives as a result of their childhood. For Tess, she tends to hold tight to the pessimistic view of not belonging and people always leaving, abandonment issues and connection barriers added to feelings of inferiority make it difficult for Tess to believe in a happily ever after for herself. While Cole has a mild case of OCD recurring order and routine including having all aspects of his life planned out. Although I did approve of his baking skills as a way of coping with stress 🎂

For all their emotional obstacles, Tess and Cole, slowly manoeuver their way around each hurdle without truly realising the positive improvements they are making to each other’s lives. So when a hiccup on the road to happiness occurs they both react badly falling back on their default coping mechanisms.

Luckily, both Tess and Cole have wonderful friends who support them even when they are idiots. Helping them see what is right in front of them and aiding them in dealing with their issues ❤

The Ice Knights are full of larger than life characters, being able to follow their journies and witness the giants falling one by one is a delight to the imagination. Look out Petrov, Avery has you in her sights, get ready to crash in Loud Mouth.

I fell in love with Avery Flynn’s writing three books ago and this one is just as good as the others. She writes a kickass heroine who doesn’t need a man, thankyouverymuch. Not that relationships are bad, but I get so tired of reading about the woman who just isn’t complete without a significant other. Tess is an awkward florist who spouts random trivia when she is nervous, and after a childhood of neglect and emotional abuse she doesn’t expect to ever find love. Cole is a player on the local professional hockey team, and lives his life by a strict, structured routine. He hates change and lately too much change is happening, including his one-time hookup being pregnant with his baby.

I loved these two together. On paper they don’t make sense, but they really are a perfect match with more in common that it seems. The denial these two have about their feelings is adorable, although frustrating at times too. It really felt like we as readers are part of their friends group, knowing they are in love with each other but unable to do anything about it.

This was a fun read with lots of random knowledge for you to absorb and file away for the next trivia night.

Awk-Weird is your typical cute and funny rom-com. Tess and Cole meet at a wedding and hit it off. They hook up and boom…..Tess is pregnant. Cole is someone who likes his life in order and is still hung up on the idea of marrying his ex. Tess is just looking for someone to accept and love her in all her awkward adorableness.

Tess moves in with Cole because her apartment is under repair and he wants to help because of the baby. It’s not long before Tess and her crazy cat have turned Coles life upside down.
I really liked Tess, she was awkward, but it made her more endearing. I liked Cole too, but I wasn’t a fan of his cluelessness concerning his ex. I think it had more to do with Cole disliking change in his life. It blinded him to what was in front of him.

All in all, this was a really cute story. I do love a good rom-com. They are just what you need when you are in a book funk or need something light.

I love the Ice Knights series and this second book of the series was a great installment to the series. I just loved Tess to pieces. I love how she blurts of facts when she is nervous or uncomfortable. Her back story broke my heart, but it made me cheer for her to get her HEA she deserves. Cole has his routines for a reason, but when Tess comes into his life she's going turn his world upside down with the dreaded word, change. Cole and Tess have great chemistry and you can feel it come off the pages. How could I not like Cole with how he is with Kahn. That's swoon worthy material for me right there. I loved how Cole and Tess are like puzzle pieces that just fit so well together. Though for Tess everyone leaves eventually so why get attached too bad her heart and head aren't on the same page. This is a must read! I love the camaraderie of Cole and his team mates. It just adds another layer to a great book. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
