I have enjoyed many other books by this author and I find it really hard to believe that she is the one who wrote this one. I’ve only gotten through the first three chapters and I can’t read anymore… There is way too much narration and not enough dialogue and action to hold my interest. I very rarely get this low of a score and especially to such a well-known author who has written such good books in the past. Even though the storyline sounded intriguing, I am feeling very bored after just three chapters.

this is a great snowy day read! you don't want to put down!! the characters are well developed and you feel as if you are actually in the drama with them, this would be a great read for any young person.

This book was not one of my favorites. The book starts off (and drowns on for the entire chapter) talking about how Saint Ambrose, a New England prep school, was finally integrating women. All of the students are perfect, all of the parents are not great BUT everyone loves Saint Ambrose and everyone excels there. Then comes a fateful Halloween night where an event happens that sends everyone at Saint Ambrose and their extended families into a tailspin. I found most of the characters (including the victim) unlikeable. The most likable were detectives down from Boston investigating the crime. I finished the book and felt like I wasted the weekend.

I had a lot of issues with this novel. In a new tradition with Steel's novels, one will be great and then the next feels like an afterthought. This is the afterthought.

My first problem was the first chapter or so were so laden with names and details that it was very easy to get lost. No one wants to be slapped in the face with 20 characters in the first few pages! It is nearly impossible to keep them straight.

My second problem was the massive repetition and stereotypical ideas. I get it, they were "good kids" and they would "never do this". Steel took every possible stereotype and threw them together, then tied it up with an unnecessary romance plotline that did nothing to serve the novel.

This was a kiss off to the "me too" movement, and in my opinion it wasn't well done. Steel has covered rape before in other books, and done so well. This was just a verbose load of sentences strung together that really didn't make an impact. I skipped whole pages of text because I didn't need to read it.

WOW ! What a great read ! One of my favorite by Danielle Steel to date. It involves multiple characters, all with unique stories. I could not put this book down !!

This book involves a tough subject and the repercussions of ones actions and how it can not only affect you but the people around you. These were some interesting characters and we watched them rise and fall and the collateral damage around them.
The title Moral Compass says it all !
A very interesting and timely read.

Saint Ambrose Prep is an elite private school where the wealthy send their children. It's been an all boys school until this year when they open it up to girls. An event that occurs after the annual Halloween event leave the school reeling and trying to figure out what happened to their student. Only a few students were there when she was attacked and know what happened but vow to keep each other's secret. Once details come out lives are changed and jeopardized. The students have a decision to make and must find their own moral compass, as this will alter their lives forever. This was a good quick read--as always this authors books are enjoyable.

Another terrific Danielle Steele novel.This is a very absorbing timely novel the characters came alive.I don’t want to reveal anything I’ll just say I highly recommend an excellent read. #netgalley#randomhouse

I love this book! The character development made it easy to follow, even with so many characters. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I feel like justice was served. I haven’t read Ms. Steel’s books for awhile, but I’m not sure why. That will change now!

Once again, Danielle Steel has hit upon a very real, yet very difficult situation. She is not afraid to touch on current and historical issues that plague this crazy world that we live in.
With the current #MeToo Movement, this story hits very close to home.
The story follows a tragic situation at an elitist prep school, where seven student's lives are forever altered by their actions in just one night. The story touches on underage alcohol use as well as repercussions of rape as a result.
The story is very familiar, children of privilege breaking the law, thinking they are above it, rich parents thinking their children shouldn't be held to the same standards as the rest and the legal system that has had enough!
In the end, I think that the culmination was just and fair. I wish that all such situations turned out the same, but unfortunately that is not always the case. This situation, in real life, has had tragic outcomes due to mishandling by law enforcement and the judicial system.
As I would with any of her books, I highly recommend the purchase of this book.

Moral Compass is a story about teenagers who attend a boarding school and on Halloween, they decide to have an after hours party where six boys pass around alcohol and get very drunk. The boys are all underage for drinking, and their judgment is highly impaired. A young girl passes the hiding spot where the boys are drinking and is asked to join their party, and she she indulges in the alcohol. One of the boys rapes the girl, and their night of fun quickly turns into a nightmare for all. This is a story that can happen on any campus, and as such this book should be read by students going off to college. The message that DS delivers is a very strong message that one must always take responsibility for their actions, and that the consequences for one's actions may come with a high price with longstanding effects on one's reputation is a very important message that is delivered in this book.

Saint Ambrose Prep is the place where the wealthy and elite send their children for a top-notch education. Traditionally an all-boys school, they’ve recently admitted in females which is a point of contention among much of the faculty. When one of the female students is sexually assaulted while inebriated, it becomes a social and legal issue that will divide friends and family before the truth is revealed.

Ms. Steel delves into a topic that has been all to common place in the media as of late. A topic that leaves many people divided and often leaves the victim in a place of blame and the very subject itself one of moral ambiguity. While I felt that what the character went through in relationship to an actual demoralizing and traumatic sexual assault was a bit diminished, I do understand that for the purpose of this book and its readers, it was necessary to minimize the details. With that being said, the characters were interesting and well-developed and the story flowed well.

Moral Compass is a chronicle for the times and brings awareness to the issue of underage drinking and sexual assault and will hopefully help eliminate the stigma and traumatic impact of sexual violence and assault regardless of whether the victim was drinking or not.

I really enjoyed this one and found it to be not only timely but it could definitely be a "ripped from the headlines" type of read.
The title "Moral Compass" totally tied in to the book, it's characters and subject.

I always enjoy a Danielle Steele book and this was no exception. Very timely subject matter. Lots characters in the story so it took some time to keep them straight. Liked how it all played out in the end

I truly enjoyed Danielle Steels latest emotional drama, Moral Compass.
If you could go back to your high school years, would you make different choices? Would you handle pivotal times in your life in a different way? 6 young men made terrible choices on Halloween that will impact them for the rest of their lives. This story will leave you questioning if the punishment fits the crime. A page turner not to be missed. Warning- Subject matter my be triggering for some. 4 stars.

This was one of my more recent favorite books of Danielle Steel. It was very relevant to today's time, I thought the story line was a good and believable one. I thought the characters came alive in the book, although I must admit with SO many male names I did sometimes get confused... who was a dad, who was a student. I thought the ending of the book was respectful, and I was glad that the main character did not fall in love with one of the boys... I must admit I thought that might happen..

Danielle Steel enters the world of elite boarding schools with Moral Compass. This book takes a bit of a turn from some of her books that are more focused on romantic relationships. This book focuses deeply on interpersonal relationships, mistakes, and the way that one night, one mistake can change your life forever. For fans of Steel's more fanciful romance fare, this book may not be what they are looking for, but for those looking for broader topics like (SMALL, POTENTIAL SPOILER) consent, this book is one to check out.

I have read and love every single book by Danielle Steel, and this one did not fail me. This was a great book and had great characters, It was easy to read and follow along with and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I highly recommend this Danielle Steel book and can not wait to read the next one by her.
