Unfollow Me is about a mommy blogger gone missing. While I thought it was going to be fluff, the variety of characters kept it interesting. You know *someone* is unreliable, but you’re not really sure until the end. I appreciated the spotlight on Postpartum Depression--being a new mom is tough. It’s often lonely and confusing--not everything Insta-worthy. Glad this book didn’t disappoint. Quick, intriguing read.

What happened to social media influence / mommy vlogger Violet? That is the question that Unfollow Me attempts to answer. Told from the viewpoint of several narrators, I found that following the who's who in this story to be difficult, and I never really cared about any of them, which made for some slow reading. I love books centered around social media though, so I wanted to find out what the "message" here was going to be. Essentially, in the end, I was left with feeling like this was a simple message to be careful about oversharing and what some potential dangers of that could be.

Social media maven, Violent, abruptly goes off the social media grid, leaving her fans left to speculate as to the reasons why. Gossip and theories of what happened ensue and we discover that everything may not be what it seem.

This is a wild ride that involves parasocial relationships. Violet seems to have a perfect life until she mysteriously disappears and fans are desperate to find out what happened.

I recently read an article about a popular Mommy blogger that one day up and quit, so when this book came across my dash I was very interested. I don't know if I liked this all that much but it did keep me turning the page. It's just that all the characters were both crazy and unlikable. Violet was a cipher -- not a true character but a plot device to keep the story moving. Henry was weak and pathetic. Yvonne was overtly crazy and getting crazier with every swipe of the page. Lily was deceptively crazy. She seemed the sanest of all until all her secrets spilled out. I think that's why this book was compulsively readable. You didn't know what would be revealed next, and you just had to know even as you were repulsed.

I do recommend it. Like I said it before, it was a page turner. But this is one of those books where I was rooting against everyone. lol

Unfollow Me is a wild ride into the new age world of Social media/online presence. When you think you've got it figured out.... think again. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good thrill!

I don't read much fiction but I requested this book after reading some reviews by GR friends and getting intrigued about the premise. I read the US version of the book with the window on the cover but apparently it's exactly the same as the UK version with baby shoes that was released by another publisher last year. You can tell, as this is very heavy on British dialect and references. I still have no idea what dungarees are are what a dungaree dress is, and why it matters so much in terms of your fashion sensibilities if you're wearing these, for instance.

The basic premise is that a super popular mommy vlogger has suddenly deleted all of her social media presence and gone missing online, and two "fans" in particular are obsessed with finding out what's happened to her. The story is told first person by these two women and then later we have some of her husband's perspective.

It is all kept very confusing so you can't figure out what's happened. This is needed for the mystery aspect, but it makes it really annoying at times because you don't understand things that are going on with the characters or what's happened in their pasts. I was frequently just kind of annoyed at this. Am I supposed to like this character or not? Is she sympathetic or a fruit loop? What on earth is happening right now? It's hard to be in someone's head (it's written first person and supposedly as it's happening) when you don't know most of their story.

I ultimately did not see the twist coming at all, but it was a bleak twist and made it not such a fun book to have read. Eh, I don't know. I didn't like most of the characters at all, but ultimately understood them enough to feel bad for all the bad in their lives. It's an interesting book but for my first book to venture into fiction after this long I think I needed at least one person who was fun or kind or funny or anything positive.

I told my husband yesterday that I tend to let the characters of books into my head and feel like they're people I know after I'm done with a book, and like they influence me a little bit the way you pick up the mannerisms of your friends. I told him it's kind of depressing having these people now permanently part of the folks in my head. I also told him that perhaps in light of that, I need to start reading books with characters who are really good at cleaning. ;)

All in all, it's well done in the aspect of keeping you guessing, but kind of depressing.

I read a digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.

I think this story will really hit home with a younger generation. I say that because I just don’t really understand how a person can feel so closely connected and influenced by someone’s computer postings. But I do know it occurs and I never am too far away from my phone so no shaming here.

The writing and pacing was very good. The characters were interesting and well developed. The actions of some of them had me cringing! It was made even worse because of the innocent children and spouses, very selfish.

I was surprised by a lot of the twists. They weren’t obvious to me and I read a lot of thrillers. The conclusion of each character’s journey was nicely done. This book was a pleasant surprise and I will look forward to more by this author.

3.5 stars. I am usually not into books that are this heavily about motherhood, but I am VERY into thrillers that center around social media and cyberstalking, so this book was total catnip for me, despite the mommy-focus. I was totally engrossed in the story, and had to know just what had happened to Violet, as well as the secrets that Lily and Yvonne were concealing. While this didn't end up feeling like much of a thriller in the end, it was still a twisty page turner, and I loved how it shined a light on how social media and obsession can take over a person's life, especially when someone is unhappy to begin with.

This review is hard to write. I really wanted to like it. Having a premise of a blogger sharing too much about her life and then to go suddenly missing is an exciting mystery thriller synopsis. However, this did not deliver. I was trying to guess the twists and everything was very underwhelming compared to what it worked itself up to be.
Meaning I had a better book plot line in my head than the book did. It could have been so much better.

The character development is very weak. You have one woman that wants to have a baby no matter the cost and the other that would rather forget her own children and just live through the blogger. Both were not fun prospectives to read from. They were constantly unhappy and were obsessed with the blogger. Then randomly throwing in other narrators was just distracting. None of the characters grew and many seemed overly concerned about their weight in comparison to the other woman in the book.

So much potential in the synopsis but not executed well.

Unfollow me follows characters Lily- a single mother, Henry- a douche husband, and Yvonne- a product out Henry's past as well as the main character they all have in common- Violet. Violet is a mummy blogger on YouTube and one day she up and deleted everything pertaining to be social media accounts. I was a bit skeptical going into the book because it gave me the vibes of YOU and Gone Girl. The entire time, however, it kept me comfortably in my seat. Giving me the feelings of regular conversation and day to day gossip in a forum. Overall,it was a nice read.

This book really started out with a bang and kept on going. There wasn't a lot of lead up to the plot of this story which was a nice change to what I'm used to reading lately. The author just gave you enough to say who was going to be part of the plot and then took you straight away into a whirlwind of twists and turns. The book starts out with our main character Yvonne trying to view her favourite youtuber (Violet's) channel like she normally does only to be shocked when all traces of the women are gone. This can't be true since her channel is so successful and she documents everything but low and behold without a message or a trace Violet is gone. The book is told through the point of view of her fans (Lilly and Yvonne) so that was an interesting chance of pace as they set out to find what really happened and if Violet just changed her mind about sharing her life with the world or if something malicious happened to her. This book really gave a deep look into the rapidity of fans and how far they will go to get to the truth, be it in a good way or a bad way. While I"m not
usually a fan of books with more than one narrator the author did a good job of blending their stories together without making it over the top and super confusing. As well each character fit nicely with the other but had enough substance and appeal to stand out on their own as well. I loved the character Yvonne she was very funny and it gave a comedic note to what could have been a very serious book. The writing of this book was phenomenal! Great read and I'm very glad I got the chance to check it out.

I picked this up on whim today and absolutely COULD NOT put it down. As someone with a YouTube channel, a thriller involving YouTube had just the right amount of creepy to keep me genuinely hooked the whole way through.

The story follows Violet Young, a YouTube mum whose channel suddenly disappears one day, and the followers that speculate and obsess over the disappearance. The book has multiple POVs, and I can honestly say that all of them were equally interesting, and I never felt disheartened to change POV. The plot twists (particularly with Yvonne’s character) had me on the edge of my seat, and I needed to know what had happened to Violet Young. Her husband Henry was well thought out, and Lily’s perspective was both parts eerie and emotional. I didn’t want this book to end (but at the same time, needed to know how it ended)! A must read for anyone who loves a ‘read in one sitting’ thriller.

This book was written from a couple different perspectives and was written really well. You get to know the characters and feel bad for them, wonder how they could do what they did, and appreciate them. This book grabbed you and brought you along to meet everyone and fully understand the events. There were some surprising bits and in so glad I read it. I could totally see this happening in real life. I’d be interested in learning more about the characters if second book is written.

Unfollow Me has such a hook that made me want to dive right in. The pitfalls of social media and "influencers" are never far from your mind if you are a frequent user and consumer of social media, so I was excited to read this book.

The book focuses on Violet, an influencer who puts her entire life of herself and her family online for the world to see. Violet one day vanishes from the internet. You then see the story unfold through Lily and Yvonne, two women with what I can only describe as an unhealthy and frankly disturbing fascination with a social media personality.

Maybe I am naive, but if people really truly feel like this strongly about random strangers who sell various non essential lifestyle items online then I am worried for the sake of society.

Thats the one thing I struggled with whilst reading the book, are there really so many people out there like that? I blog, I follow other bloggers, I have favourites but I dont freak out when they take a break or go quiet. I get on with my life.

When I put that aside, the story was good, sharp, clever and I liked the view points becoming clearer as the book went on.

Overall, it was a decent read, and if you are obsessed with social media, this might be the perfect choice for you.

4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What is it about nut case characters that I love so much!?

I’m loving this social media trend that is going on right now in books. It’s incredibly eye opening since we all tend to take it all for granted most of the time.

Popular mommy vlogger Violet suddenly disappears from social media and her obsessive stalkers (aka followers) go into a panicked frenzy trying to figure out what happened to her. The story is told in 3 POV’s - Lily, Yvonne (two of Violet’s followers who are totally CUCKOO) and Henry, Violet’s husband - who just sends of totally shady vibes from the start.

Unfollow me is super well written and fast paced. Lots of scandalous activities going on, which always makes for a fun reading experience!

I’m definitely looking forward to more from this author.

This is a very accurate account of how life is now days with social media and influencers. You feel like you know the people whose lives you see on blogs and IG and FB, just because of the glimpse I to their lives. This story was well told from multiple POVs and enjoyable, and had a good and creepy element to it. I was very surprised by the way it ended as I did not see it coming.

Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane books for the ARC!

The backdrop of mummy vlogging is very much relevant to current times and is an interesting setting. How Violet, the vlogger handles the various obsessed fans of hers was intriguing and how much stalkers can get into other's lives is totally scary. It really was a complex twisted plot where the lives of three completely different women are interconnected. The three women have a completely different life and thought process.

It had good suspense elements and the plot kept spiraling until the end. Unfortunately, all the three women were not very likable characters, though this doesn’t really affect the twists and the plot in general. It took some time to follow the three different characters. Though the writing was simple, it still took time as there were quite a few supporting characters who did not add too much to the plot.

Definitely an engaging and complex plot!

Trigger- Infertility!! It does detail the entire process and a lot of related terminology.

The book follows the people who follow social influencers. It shows how obsessed some people get with social influencers and how it's all a lie. Well written and kept you guessing.

What a great book! Unfollow Me kept me captivated from page 1 until the end. It centers around the sudden online disappearance of Violet, a famous YouTube mommy vlogger. The story unfolds through 3 points of view, Lily and Yvonne, who are fans of Violet, and Violet’s husband Henry. It is well written and had some twists and surprises that I did not see coming. The ending was satisfying. The story itself tells a very chilling tale about society’s obsession with social media and our lives. I haven’t read any other books that tackle this topic in this was so it was different from the typical good guy/bad guy psychological thrillers.
All in all, I’d highly recommend Unfollow Me!

Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane books for the ARC!

I thought I had most of the plots in the book figured out but found that there were some surprises in the end.
Violet Young is a hugely successful mommy vlogger who has over a million followers. One day Violet deletes all of her social media accounts with no warning and no explanation. This causes the rumor mills to run rampant and some of her more extreme followers to become a little too involved in finding out the truth of why Violet has suddenly taken herself off the grid. Some of these followers are a little too involved in her life and have made her a main component of their own lives and These people have suffered their own transgressions and either have used Violet's videos to get them through or have blamed her for the issues they have faced. When her online world bleeds into the real world it leads to a catastrophic event that causes Violet to remove herself from social media.
I liked the ending and how they closed the chapter on each person's life. Most people got what they deserved either positively or negatively. Some secrets are best kept that way.
