Unfollow me is a compelling, addictive and carefully crafted mystery. I was completely gripped from the first chapter and couldn't put it down. Between feeds and naps, I devoured this domestic drama in 2 days (it's been marketed as a thriller... but I disagree). It's an intriguing story that explores the negative influence social media has over our lives. I loved the characters, especially Yvonne (she has some great one-liners) and felt invested in each story-line and how they'd connect in the end. The big 'reveal' was impeccable and I did NOT see it coming. For fans of Liane Moriarty and Lisa Jewell! This one is out August 22nd :).

What an interesting and impressive read. I honestly could not put it down - the author did an amazing job of keeping the reader invested in the characters and the subject matter. The two main characters were flawed but you felt for them, and the twists that were revealed for each of them felt realistic and not overly dramatic, as so many of these types of books often are. You could understand who Lily was as a person and why she is so invested in Violet and has done the things she's done. The same with Yvonne, who is still coming to grips with her past while trying to move forward and make a future with her husband. I was so impressed with how both of these characters were handled and treated as real people.

The social media aspect was both timely and dealt with extremely well, displaying with the impact of influencers, addiction, trolling, stalking, lying, etc. without coming across as preaching either for or against documenting/following someone's life online. I wish we had gotten a bit more from the point of view of Violet herself - she felt like a bit of enigma to me, and if she was truly as sweet as everyone described, I had trouble imagining what she saw in Henry (who, despite his disgusting thoughts, also was sadly realistic).

Overall, this book was extremely enjoyable and I hope to see more of this style of novel, one that keeps the reader invested in the characters as much as the mystery.

I’m extremely sorry but.....I CANNOT waste anymore time on this book! IMO, it’s just stupid.
The “plot”, if you can call it that, is a bunch of moms, mostly on the poor side or trying to conceive, are all into this 1 social media “mom star” named Violet. She’s gone off the grid on all her social media sites & these lunatic, psychopathic moms are now trying to investigate where she is, what happened to her......I DON’T CARE! Not enough to finish this book, that’s for sure! I dont care if she’s in mommy time out, jail, dead, sick....NOTHING. Nothing about this book excites me, therefore I’m abandoning it at 45%. Which, BTW, is way more than I usually will read for what I consider a bad story. SORRY, just not into the psycho mommy scene!

Other part is...it’s written, on m guessing, by a British writer. Now, by no means does that make it bad, since I’ve read many other British written books....& totally understood them! However, this is British that at many times, I must look up the term for what is written because I can’t even get close to figuring it out, even by reading the sentence

IMO, I would NOT recommend this book! Thought it would be something much different than I signed up to read. Perhaps if you’re a British mommy or mommy to be, you’ll appreciate this book....I didn’t!

Yvonne's hilarity in this book is EVERYTHING. At one point she calls some women is a mommy's chat group The Breastapo, and I lost it again.

The story itself absorbed me utterly. I HAD to figure out what was going on but the one-liner gifts along the way added so much levity to this thriller that it was the perfect read for me.

This was an exciting book to read! I couldn’t put It down for a second until I finished reading it. Knowing the addictive effect social media has on the world, this book really put every day life into perspective. The story wove such a wonderful web of intrigue and honesty about the dangers of social media. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has even an ounce of a social media fear. It really changed my opinion of what should be shared and what should be treasured and protected from online lurkers. Awesome read!

A great thriller by a very talented author. I felt the main characters were smart and capable and really cared about their fate. Very well written and insightful.

Violet shares her whole life online in a vlog on YouTube. There's nothing in her life that she doesn't share..her home, her kids, her husband and her whereabouts when shes not vlogging.

The only problem with putting yourself out there are the chances that there are psychos and people that might have a reason to hurt you. Especially when your loving husband has been being naughty and upset one of your followers. Putting yourself out there without any restrictions makes it easy for one of these psychos to maybe seek revenge for things you might not even be aware of. Violet is learning this but unfortunately there was a very heavy price that was made.

Loved this book and makes you think about your own time online. What information do you share sometimes without realizing it and who is reading it?

This is the first book I have read by the author but upon finishing it I ran and placed her other one on my wish list. I love when I read an author new to me and they already have a previous book published that I can dive right into. Unfollow me is the story of an influencer who has millions of Viewers, Violet. She is a hugely successful in sharing her life as a mommy and her beautiful and perfect life, across social media. Except... one day she just disappears. Her fans want to know what happened and set out to uncover the truth. The story is told from multiple POV characters who reveal to us their secrets and how all their lives are connected as we try to figure out...what exactly happened to Violet? This was a very stand out read which can be hard to do with so many similar suspense thrillers being released lately.

Unfollow Me starts off strong and draws you in, but it doesn't keep you there the whole book. It is another that is almost too long and drawn out where it could have been much shorter and jam packed.
Violet is a young mom of 3, blogger, Instagram famous, YouTube star...One day her loyal fans find all of her social media accounts deleted and her channel taken down with no warning. Her husband, Henry, also is not posting anything.
The story follows two of those fans, Yvonne and Lily. Yvonne is 40 years old, newly married, and desperate to be pregnant. She along with her online group of want to be mommies, start posting their theories about what has happened to cause Violet to mysteriously disappear. Meanwhile Lily is somewhat obsessed with Violet's presence. As the book progresses, Lily resorts to stalking the family first by placing herself at Violet's eldest daughter Skye's school, then by "mistakenly' ending up at Violet's house.
Throughout the story we start to learn there is more to Yvonne's story that meets the eye. We learn that she once had a relationship with Henry and had a child as a result of the relationship. She through the years conveniently would show up at places where Henry or Violet, yet Violet was not aware of the relationship. Although if I read everything correctly, it was never actually confirmed, the implication is that all of the emails we see going back and forth to Violet are from Yvonne....
As the story concludes, we find out exactly where Violet has been. A tragic accident has put the life of one of her children in jeopardy. The accident takes it toll not only on Violet but combined with the discovery of the relationship with Yvonne, also she and Henry's marriage. Eventually after all blows over, Violet returns to social media and all is well.
A good book but too drawn out

Charlotte Duckworth’s ‘Unfollow me’ was an absolutely delight to read! One of those novels that is SO thrilling that finding a worthy next read poses quite the challenge!

All the pre-requisites of a decent psychological thriller are in here: rising tension, dark and complex characters and plot twists galore. Throw into the mix social media trolling, gritty morality and questionable decision making to elevate ‘Unfollow Me’ to the next level - an absolute corker of a read!

The plot is based around mummy ‘influencer’ Violet who unexpectedly deletes her social media accounts - causing mass speculation around her circumstances. The majority of the story is told through the narrative of her followers, which leads us into some gripping sub plots around their personal lives.

Worthy of 5 stars purely for managing the rare feat of holding my interest to the very end. I thank Netgalley, author and publisher for the pleasure of reading this book in exchange for an honest review.

We live in a world where people post everything about themselves online. What happens when a person you followed goes missing? This book was engrossing and unputdownable. You won't mind losing sleep to see what happens next.

I really enjoyed this one.

First, let me say that, with the exception of minor characters Luke and Simon, I found this book to be full of awful, contemptible people. BUT...in this case, for this book, it absolutely worked for me. Rather than making me want to abandon the book, Charlotte Duckworth instead elicits emotions to make me keep reading. I *have* to find out what's happened in this crafty whodunit, which is told through multiple POVs, emails, and postings on online message boards.

Violet Young is a wildly popular social media influencer through her mummy blog and other accounts. But when she suddenly disappears, as well as her entire online footprint, her obsessive fans want to know: did she just have enough oversharing? Or did something worse happen to her...

Unfollow Me explores the consequences of our unhealthy obsession with the facade of online personalities, as well as our own. But it goes deeper than that. Duckworth also lays out complex relationships, motherhood, lies, deceit, and finding a new life after you've completely lost the plot.

I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book. It sounded like a fun thriller, but I'm no big fan of social media personalities, I was, however, drawn in by the first page and found this compulsively readable and hard to put down. I liked the format, but I did have a hard time differentiating between Lily's and Yvonne's chapters, because they sounded so similar. If I happened to take a break in the middle of a chapter, I often had to reread to remember who was whom. Otherwise, a great read that I highly recommend!

Violet Young is a beautiful and successful Mummy Vlogger who seems to have it all: a gorgeous town house in an affluent area of London, a handsome husband, three children she adores, and 1.7 YouTube subscribers who eagerly await her daily posts.

But one morning, when her fans log in, Violet's YouTube channel has been erased as if she never existed. So is her Instagram her Twitter account, and anywhere else she had a social media presence. It's as if Violet never existed.

Her fans are frantic: where is Violet? Has something happened to her? Or has she just decided to erase her accounts without a word of warning to her loyal followers? Her fans are determined to find out the truth...but when the digging begins, it might not be just Violet's secrets that come to light.

I loved the premise for this thriller - it's timely, original, and just the kind of thing to pique my interest. The story is mainly narrated by two separate fans of Violet's, both of whom are determined to find out what has happened to their idol: Lily, a young widow with a small son who envies Violet her picture perfect life, and Yvonne, a newlywed desperate for a family of her own. The two narratives move along at a fairly rapid pace, but I enjoyed the way that the reveals were quite staggered, so that information is unravelled gradually.

I enjoyed everything about this book. The premise was quirky and original, I loved the writing style, and I was invested in all of the characters, despite (or perhaps because of) their flaws.

A brilliant thriller with some genuinely surprising twists - I can't wait to see what's next for this author.

Great book, Got an early release from the publisher and net galley and it was a ride!! Haven't read anything else from this author won't be the last for me. Was well written, keeping you glued to the pages to see what will happen. Can't wait for more from this author.

Definitely a different type of suspense!
I was actually so caught up in the disappearance of Violet that I went on Instagram to look for her.
Where the heck did she go? Was she killed, hurt? She just shuts off all her social media platforms and leaves the world hanging?
Can she do that? But... she can and did.
I found myself holding my breath hoping that one of her fans would bring news that she was ok.
This was a crazy story that I found intriguing! I think many will enjoy the creativeness of this novel! I know I found it entertaining!

At first I was concerned that I would not enjoy this book.... I didn't understand how the characters were intertwined or where the story was going. However I am glad I stuck it out. I ended up really enjoying this. I look forward to the next book by this author.

A thriller with plenty of suspense and a modern twist.

The novel tells the story of two women, Lily and Yvonne, at quite different places in their lives who both obsessively follow a vlogger named Violet whose social media accounts mysteriously disappear one day.

While the main plot of what happened to Violet and why she has so suddenly disappeared is obviously the main thread of the book, it is the stories of Lily and Yvonne which have the most twists.

The book is mainly told from the point of view of three characters, Lily, Yvonne and Henry (Violet's husband). You quickly get used to the style and the differences in the characters cleverly avoid this mechanism becoming cumbersome. Supporting characters are well written and you feel for them all in this story.

It is a definite page-turner as you discover more about the characters as they search for answers to what has happened to Violet.

I really liked this book and I give it a solid 4 stars. It was interesting and definitely relevant. Who can’t relate to being curious about influencer life? I thought the author did well with the theme of obsession and when it goes too far. I felt the ending was abrupt and it was fairly predictable. However, I would still recommend it.
