‘Her Perfect Lies’ is the latest book by Lana Newton.

When Claire Wright wakes in hospital, she doesn’t recognise the person staring back at her in the mirror. She’s told that she has the perfect life: she’s beautiful, famous, with a husband and a house to die for. But Claire can’t remember anything from before the devastating car crash that’s left her injured. And now she’s surrounded by strangers, saying they’re her family and friends. As Claire discovers the person she used to be she must also unravel the mystery that surrounds the accident. But the more Claire uncovers, the more she will be forced to face up to the dark secrets from her life before.

This is perfect thriller to get absorbed in and with an unreliable narrator leaves the reader guessing right until the final page.

Seen from the perspective of Claire, who wakes up from a coma after an accident with no memory and having to rely on what friends and family tell her to be true. Led to believe that the life she has is perfect, Claire begins to question her life especially after her father also wakes up from a coma having been involved in the same accidents and also makes her doubt everything that she was led to believe.

As the story progresses, we see a different side to Claire, prior to her accident she was a successful ballet dancer, she wasn’t the nicest of people to her family and friends and as people remind her of her old life, it gives her time to reflect and try to piece together her life and the memories and dreams that haunt her. In an unhappy marriage, she struggles to make sense of what is real and what she is led to believe.

The story isn’t that long and could be absorbed in one sitting. Cleverly written with a character that you initially feel an empathy for due to her situation, you begin to change your opinion of her as people relieve what type of person she was before the accident, vain and unfaithful. She’s not quite the perfect girl that her father tells her.

As Claire tries to piece together her old and new life, she finds herself revealing secrets that were long hidden from her life and coincidentally puts her own life at risk.

Thrilling with drama, suspicious characters and twists throughout, ‘Her Perfect Lies’ is a fantastic psychological thriller that made for unpredictable reading.

You can buy ‘Her Perfect Lies’ from Amazon.

The book premise: a woman wakes up in a hospital bed and can't remember who she is or what happened to her. Here's my problem: this scene has been done a million times.

The synopsis begins with: "The twisty psychological suspense that will keep you guessing"

I figured out who the antagonist was by midway through the book. It did not keep me guessing.

I just felt the book was, "been there, done that."

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy for an honest review.

I wanted to read something different and I have gotten just that here. This was a breath of fresh air reading: from twists and turns to a great plot that kept me guessing until the end!. Sometimes I need a change of genre from my usual reading and this book accomplished just that!

I give this 3 stars. It was okay! I didn't dislike this book. I didn't love this book. It did not WOW me. It was just okay.

The main character of the story is Claire. She wakes up in the hospital one day to find herself there but has no idea why. They tell her she was in a car accident but she can't remember it. In fact, she remembers NOTHING. She doesn't remember who she is, doesn't remember her husband, her best friend or her father (who is also in the hospital due to the same accident) and she doesn't remember her mother. She doesn't remember her past life.

She is released from the hospital and goes home with her (distant) husband and falls into this life that she has no clue about. She learns she is a famous ballet dancer but can't remember this part of her life either.

The story then follows her trying to figure out her life (which is hard because everyone in this book seems to lie to her) and trying to solve a mystery that occurs.

It had such a promising story line to me. But, just fell a bit short. I kinda guessed the "mystery" and who was behind things pretty early on. I also had no "like" for anyone in this book. I literally did not care about any of these characters. Everyone was just so distant. It just didn't have a WOW factor for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and Publisher for the ARC!

So many things are revealed as Claire's memory slowly returns and who she should trust changes often.. This book kept me guessing right until the end.

This story hooked me right from the beginning, when Claire is in the hospital, recovering from an accident that has left her with no memories of her past. I loved seeing how the memories crept back, slowly, with not everything fitting perfectly into place. Not everyone in Claire's "perfect" life is upfront, and some are downright dangerous, so who should she trust? As she slowly pieces herself back together, will she like who she used to be? These are all intriguing questions and I could not put this book down until I had the answers!

Kate wakes up in hospital not knowing who her husband is and with her father also in hospital. What unfolds is Kate trying to peel back the truth from the lies, the allies from the foes before it’s too late. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for the arc.

Claire leaves hospital after being involved in a devastating car accident. She has no memory of her life before the accident, or of her husband, family or friends. Gaby, her best friend, tells her that she was going to divorce her husband Paul and she was a very self obsessed person. Claire doesn’t know whether this is the truth or not. She begins to suspect Paul of not loving her and maybe being involved in the car accident. This is a gripping thriller following Claire’s attempt to regain her memory as she realises that many people are lying to her and as she uncovers these lies she realises that she has to face up to her own dark secrets from the past. A recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Not exactly what I was expecting at all yet sort of what I was expecting. The thriller part was so promising until half of the book when the lies and secrets get discovered and not that intriguing or interesting. I was imagining something way more captivating.
That said it such an easy and fast read but also a fast forgotten book.

A great start for me as a reader to explore this writer. She gave an intensity to this story. The characters were real and the mystery was a bit to unravel. I have just started the slightly revenge novel as a genre I am loving the story here.

Claire is a beautiful young woman with a handsome cardiologist husband. More than that, she is a famous ballerina with a majestic home where she hosts enviable social events. The only problem is, Claire can’t remember any of that. A tragic car accident has left her with severe brain trauma, resulting in amnesia. As Claire desperately searches her home for anything that might help recover her memories, truths are revealed and questions abound. When Claire begins to dig into her childhood her search for answers only becomes more complicated. The more Claire learns the more she begins to fear for her safety. Soon another tragedy will send her reeling but it may also send her closer to the truth. When Claire suspects everyone is lying, distinguishing friend from foe becomes almost impossible. Her Perfect Lies, the premier novel from Lana Newton, will keep you guessing until the last chapter.

A woman wakes up in the hospital with amnesia. Her car accident left her a complete blank. The more she learns, the more questions she has. Lana Newton tells Claire's story with a few twists that leave us asking who the "her" is in Her Perfect Lies. Don't try and read this one on the go, pay attention or you'll never figure it out!
