This book kept me thinking the whole time (will she get her memory back, then who is calling her if the mother is dead). So many twists and turns. I wasn’t sure what direction it would go. I couldn’t figure out what the title meant until the very end of the book. This made me think about trust, and how do you know you can trust anyone. This book kept me turning pages. It was difficult to put down.

A good, solid 4/5 stars for this.
A great twist and turns type novel.
Like the main character you’ll be guessing over and over. I really like this type of novel: well written but not too pretentious and original with a good plot.

Good writing and lots of twists

I have read quite a few of these amnesia stories
and this is fairly predictable and nothing groundbreaking but it was still enjoyable. The author writes well and moves the story along. The tension felt by the narrator does come across quite clearly.

I liked that this bout of amnesia made the character change her ways, for the better. There were some surprises that I saw coming and some I didn’t. The ending was unusual for this genre but it fit and made me happy.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and HQ Digital for a copy in exchange for a review.

My go to genre : psychological thriller. After reading so many, not much surprises me. This book included. It wasn’t terrible but I couldn’t connect with the main character.

was not sure how I was going to like it. But when I started reading it I realized that I found another wonderful author to read. On the edge of my seat the whole time. I was not disappointed at all. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you for the opportunity to read these books.

This book drew me in from the start. . Claire wakes up in the hospital not remembering the past, and that begins the night mare for her. She goes home to a house she doesn't remember with a husband who she trusts, but should she? The writer gives you a feeling of fear of what's to come. Who do you believe, who is lying, who has the most to gain? It's a book filled with interesting characters, easy to read and hard to put down.. I want to thank Net Galley for giving me the chance to read it.

Fellow readers...I genuinely feel like a "Negative Nancy" lately. I've written so many 1 or 2 star reviews the past couple months, I'm beginning to feel like the Grinch.

It isn't intentional...it's just that the books I've read recently are recycled material. And nearly all their previous incarnations were far more successful.

While the red herrings in Her Perfect Lies were decent, I still easily managed to guess who the antagonist was very early on. Nothing about the characters made them easy to relate to, or even likable. There were several story lines which started...then simply disappeared from the book, never to be heard from again. And at its conclusion, the book got very preachy, quoting Bible verses and discussing Heaven. Very random...and odd.

Mostly, though, my biggest issue with this novel was all the filler...it could have easily been 100 pages shorter. I was literally counting down the pages until it ended, as I was more than tired of reading Claire's confused, constantly repeated, ramblings.

Thankfully, I have several books coming up I suspect will get very high ratings (Jennifer Hillier, anyone?), so hopefully you won't have to read my criticisms much longer.

**Many thanks to the publisher for my copy of this novel, in exchange for my candid review.

Claire is suffering from amnesia. Is it due to the terrible accident she was in or from a major catastrophic event. Her friends and family tell her about her past, but are they telling her the truth? Will she be able to figure out who's telling her the truth, and who has changed it to Benefit themselves.
Very enjoyable read. Would enjoy reading a other book by Lana Newton. Thanks netgalley and LAna for giving me this opportunity.

Unpredictable and filled with so much suspense. I like a book that can suck me in from the first chapter making it difficult to put down. This fit the description perfectly.

Many thanks to NetGalley for giving me this ARC!

I really wanted to like this book, as it sounded promising. Unfortunately, it just fell flat. At times predictable, other times just dragging, I didn’t feel there was enough depth to the characters or the plot itself.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

★ 1.5 stars

An exciting premise for a promising tale of psychological suspense, HER PERFECT LIES did not live up to my expectations. In fact I had to force myself to keep reading because I wanted to know how it ended...and even then it was far from exciting or gripping.

After a car accident, Claire wakes in hospital with no memory of who she is or how she got there. She doesn't recognise her husband, her friends or family. When she discovers her father is also in the hospital in a coma, she rushes to his bedside to sit with him, despite having no memories of him she just knows she has to be there.

She is soon fit to be discharged and her husband Paul takes her home...which isn't just a house, it's a mansion! Which her very wealthy mother bought for them, Paul informs her.

Home is meant to be a sanctuary, but there are so many nooks one can hide in this huge house to gain some privacy. And yet, Claire doesn't feel like it's home. She aches to get back to the hospital to visit her father again...and glean some more information from him about her life.

She is supposed to be happily married and yet Paul is distant with her. He watches her take her meds to ensure she does so...saying he just wants what's best for her. But does he really? Her best friend Gaby tells her that they had "issues" without elaborating, and when Claire discovers divorce papers with their signatures on, she believes that their issues must be pretty big.

And then the nightmares begin...or are they memories? Claire doesn't know but one thing she is sure of is that she is terrified of them. Who is the faceless man in her nightmares? And why is she so afraid of him? Is it Paul? Or someone else? Or is she just imagining it?

Claire begins to realise that the place she feels safest is with her father, so when Paul informs her that the hospital is discharging him, Claire insists he come and live with them. As her father is confined to a wheelchair unable to walk, Paul hires a nurse and a physiotherapist to see to his needs. Despite his willingness to help, Claire finds herself unable to trust Paul. Is it something her subconscious knows about him? Is he the man from her dreams?

And where was Claire's mother? Her father claims she was in the USA tending to a sick relative, but Gaby insists that there was no way on earth that Angela (her mother) would not fly back to be at her daughter's bedside. Her father is vague about when her mother will return - 3 weeks or 3 months, he isn't sure. Then her mother calls from the USA. Claire is ecstatic to hear from her, though she cannot picture her. In a flurry of words, Angela tells her she wishes she could be with her but she will be as soon as she can. At least now she knows where her mother is.

...Until she hears her father sobbing from his room, the police and Paul at his bedside. What's going on, she asks. Her mother's body has just been found, stabbed on her kitchen floor. Claire claims that that isn't possible as she has just gotten off the phone to her mother in the USA. But when Paul and her father return from identifying the remains Claire's world collapses even further. It's her. She is gone. Her mother is dead. But...then who has been calling her?

Claire finds that she must untangle the threads of her life...and discover who she was. Beginning with the car accident. Why does her father tell her she wasn't in the car, yet the police constable remembers vividly pulling her out? And why did he then lie to the police telling them she WAS in the car and they were on the way to go horse riding? Which is the truth?

But the more Claire digs, the more she uncovers that makes little or no sense. She learns that she had a brother she knew nothing about and an aunt, her mother's twin, she hadn't seen since she was 16. The house she thought she had grown up in in North London she had moved to from Windsor at the same age she last saw her mother's twin sister. What secrets was her family trying to cover up? Was it something she did and they were merely protecting her?

Claire realised the truth lay in Windsor...and endeavoured to find out exactly what truth that was.

The concept behind HER PERFECT LIES was an interesting one in where a woman wakes from a coma with no memory of her life whatsoever. Imagine what one could do with that! Her family, friends and even husband could rewrite her history and she would be none the wiser. However, it just didn't work here. I felt the story was just a jumble of one dimensional occurrences involving a handful of characters that were just too implausible.

I didn't warm to anyone in the story and found myself longing for it to end. But at the same time, I had to force myself to continue just so I could find out what really happened...and once I got there, I felt I would have been better off ditching the book for something far more enthralling. The conclusion was predictable in the end because what other explanation was there? There were so many secrets and lies all tangled together I couldn't even make headway with them that I didn't even care who was responsible in the end.

I must be one of the minority with this book because many others rave about it but I honestly could not see why. With a similar concept I believe Steve (S.J.) Watson did it far better in "Before I Go To Sleep" and because of that, I guess it is difficult to surpass its success.

Sadly, I did not enjoy HER PERFECT LIES at all and really struggled to complete it...and that was only because I wanted to find out what happened. But, don't take my word for it...there are plenty of others who have really enjoyed it. I'd recommend you take a look for yourself. Everyone's tastes are different and you may love it or you may not. You never know until you give it a go.

I would like to thank #LanaNewton, #NetGalley and #HQDigital for an ARC of #HerPerfectLies in exchange for an honest review.

Really good book! I felt all the emotions Claire felt. A very tricky subject matter to write about. I’m glad when people do write about it because it sheds some light on it. Amazing job. A must read.

I was kept guessing where the end would lead! It kept taking many twists and turns but definitely kept me entertained until the end. I couldn’t put it down!
Everything that happened up until Claire wakes up in the hospital is a complete blank. She has no idea who she is or why she is there. She also finds out that her father is in the same hospital with life threatening injuries. The police come to speak to her but she has no information that she can give them. Her father seems adamant that she was not in the car with him, but the police officer tells Claire that he is the one who pulled her out. With no recollection of her past, she must rely on those around her to tell her what she was like. She lives in a mansion and is a famous ballet dancer but it seems that she wasn’t the nicest person. As days go by and Claire is told different things about her life and the ones around her, she longs for the memories to return so that she can filter out the lies and find out the truth behind the accident and the other things she has found. Will Claire regain her memories and become the person that she used to be or will this accident cause her to have
to start her life anew?
i really enjoyed this book and the characters! Thank you Netgalley and HQ Digital for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I love a good novel filled with suspense, psychological thrills, and an unreliable narrator. This novel has all of that.

Claire wakes up in hospital not knowing anything about herself. She doesn't remember her life, the accident, and doesn't recognize her own husband. Due to the accident, Claire suffers from temporary amnesia, which adds to the suspense. Slowly we gather pieces of the puzzle, learning what happened the night of the accident. It leaves you guessing the entire way through and I loved that about this novel. Not everyone is who they appear to be, and there are so many lies, secrets and betrayals it is difficult to know who to trust.

You'll definitely want to add this book to your TBR list!

This was a great book. It held my attention from the beginning without losing me in extra words or too many characters. My first time reading a book by this author. I will definitely look for more of her books.

Claire finds herself in hospital and is told that she was involved in a very bad car accident and that her father was in the same car and he is in a coma. Claire has absolutely no recollection of the accident or of her life. Paul says that he is her husband and when she is well enough, he takes her to a beautful large home of which she has no memory. She has short bursts of her past, but is not sure who she trusts. Gaby claims to be her best friend, but some things she learns do not make sense and just makes Claire believe that many secrets are being held from her.
This story does keep you guessing as you learn more of her past.
I was a bit disappointed with the almost abrupt lame ending, but I do thank Netgalley, the publishers and author for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Life as Claire knew it before the accident is gone or rather all her memories and emotions she may have attached to her previous life are gone. All that remains are the people she knew in her previous life and unfortunately she has to rely on them for information about herself and her old life.

What if one of those people were quite adept at twisting the truth to suit their own agenda? Then again it's hard to determine just who is sincere in this roller-coaster of a thriller.

At first there is plenty of doubt about whether Claire is who she says she is. The amnesia seems to cause a complete personality transplant. She has gone from being self-obsessed, selfish and uppity to a pleasant, caring and down-to-earth woman. To be fair her affinity for a bit of drama is still alive and well though - very am-dram.

She is also incredibly anxious, frightened and insecure about what is fact or fiction. Is she being told lies or is her mind the liar - creating a fictional story to suit her own personal narrative? The reader is never quite sure whether it is Claire being slightly looney or something more nefarious is at work.

It's a psychological thriller that makes everyone look like the guilty party, perhaps because everyone feels guilty about something they have done. Was it the husband, the girlfriend, the housekeeper, the father or was it indeed the amnesiac herself? Is it all just a clever ploy to cover up her own crimes?
Newton keeps it all up her sleeve until the last few chapters.
