A ski lodge, an investigation intertwines with a previous case in a new state. What will happen when Nicole needs a new partner because her human partner is sick? Will the local sexy wolf fill in willingly? What will happen when she discovers who he really is?

Another sexy shifter set in the snowy mountains full of adventure, suspense, excitement and heat.

For a series as long running as this one, the most important thing for readers is always the infusion of new characters and the author’s ability to keep the storylines(s) from getting boring. Luckily for us, Terry Spear has such as ability that we never have to worry that we will get bored. This new sub-series kicks off for the Wolff family, new residents of the beloved Silver town and pack that own the ski-lodge on the edge of town. The Wolff’s were welcomed in the last story and now the youngest brother has found his mate in an unexpected visitor to the lodge, a sexy she-wolf that literally grabs him up for her own. Josie is a private investigator in town on a hunt for a bastard that she suspects already escaped her once in the past and she is determined to do whatever it takes to bring him to justice this time. When her cover is almost blown, she grabs the first sexy wolf she runs across, not realizing she just found the most helpful guy in the entire town to help in Blake, one of the owners of the lodge and a very connected wolf in the local pack. Together with his family, and of course the Silver pack in town, Josie and Blake work to catch the errant criminals she is after. Blake has a bit of an ulterior motive though, as he is totally taken by Josie and has decided that he wants to have her for his mate and will do just about anything to woo her to his side. In the end, solving the case and keeping her safe might just be enough to convince her to keep him and stay as his mate, as long as they don’t get themselves killed in the process. I loved this story, with so many twists and turns, and Blake and Josie were perfect together. Josie is a serious bad-ass she-wolf with the ability to bring down the bad guy and the brains to use every resource at her disposable to catch him. She was sweet and playful enough for Blake as well as a good blend into the family and you could tell she mixed well into their little group. Blake is a wolf with a heart of gold, which is evident by the way he offers his help immediately when Josie grabs onto him. I loved seeing him in action helping on her case, but even more seeing him wooing Josie and playing with his family showed how rounded he is into a perfect mate for Josie. They balance each other so well and the passion between them is very evident from the beginning, almost hot enough to melt all the snow around them. I am very much looking forward to the next 3 novels as Blake’s siblings find love and mates and Terry gives us more in this amazing series. Another masterpiece in a series that just continues to entertain and spellbind me.

An interesting take on the werewolf fantasy genre. A must have for fans, and even a good starting point for folks interested in dipping their toes into the waters. Recommend for purchasing.

Written by Terry Spear, one of the Queens of Werewolf Fiction (don’t know if that’s a title, but I’m giving it out now), You Had Me at Wolf follows Nicole, a retired investigate for the military (think a step above Military Police) who is a werewolf, and now a PI after retiring from the military. Her current case? To prove that a man who claims to be dead, and got the insurance money, is faking his death. The fact that she ends up needing one of the owners, Blake, as a pretend boyfriend -a nice, hot werewolf – doesn’t hurt either. But, besides protecting Nicole and helping her as much as he can, Blake really wants Nicole to stay and be his forever.

Now, even though this is a romance and shouldn’t need this, this is not intended for children.

The writing in here was reliable and very much a nice, easy read for the start of what should soon be summer. Or a nice, cozy inside read. The romance in this is out of left field and diving head first, but it was sweet and made for exactly what you though you’d be getting: a nice, cozy romance with a bit of mystery. Blake was a great character, as was Nicole, though a lot of the interactions felt a little… forced? Not between the two of them, but more with how excepting everyone working at the ski lodge was.

But, if you’re wanting an easy romance read with a side of action and mystery and werewolf, this is a good choice.

I did receive a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Nicole is a strong lead, and I love the way she character is created. The story itself plays into a book series that I dont remember reading before , and apparently this is a spinoff. There were the typical references one would expect to “those who came before”, but nothing that I couldnt overlook or figure out. This is a promising new series.

This is a nice spin-off series from the Silver Town Wolf Series. I thought they would incorporate the Wolff brothers and the lodge into that, but I do like this better. Blake and his family are enjoyable, and I do love the search and rescue part of running a ski lodge. It adds a nice dimension to the everyday running of the business. I also loved how the family jumped in to help Nicole and her investigation. Granted the sleuthing excitement seemed to go a bit slow for me, probably how it is in real life. But the pace did allow for the romance and her assimilation into the pack to proceed. I liked Nicole and Blake, especially as a couple. It seemed natural and nothing forced – nor was there a cosmic matching that they had to come to terms with. I liked that, just two people attracted to each other and finding their perfect mate. The romance also built slowly and heated up nicely. I look forward to what comes next for the Wolff family.

The first book in the Wolff Brothers, You Had Me at Wolf is a spin off from the Silver Town Wolf series. A good read with great character dynamics ad an engaging storyline. Overall a promising start to this series

You Had Me at Wolf by Terry Spear is an intimate wolf story. A story about protecting the innocent from the bad guys. One particular female wolf did all she could to find and catch the culprit that targeted a female wolf. However, she couldn't find any hard evidence to arrest him. Without, he was a free being. But that did not stop Josie from investigating him long afterwards. As luck would have it, the human man was committing another crime. This time, Josie along with her new backup team, the Silver Town wolves, she plans on nabbing the bad guy along with his partners.

Josie is a strong female character. She's just as tough as she is smart. Josie garners a lot of attention from the Silver Town's male wolf population. Due to shortage in female wolves, Josie is like the jackpot. It was hilarious how she just dove right in and kissed Blake Wolff like he was her mate.

Blake Wolff's reaction was funny too. He was a bit surprised but so damn happy with the way his day was proceeding. Ever since that one long hot kiss, Blake doesn't want to let go of Josie. He helps her on her case and tries everything to get her to stay. He wants her as his real mate, not just for pretend. I loved his protectiveness of her. His jealousy said it all.

Nicole Grayson and her partner have come to Silvertown on a case. Blake Wolff and his family have recently moved to town and opened the ski lodge. She must enlist his help on her case and gets the entire family and pack as back up. A fake relationship becomes You Had Me at Wolf.
Nicole Grayson is a private investigator on a case to prove that a man faked his death that leads them to the Wolff ski lodge in Silvertown. She’s working with a partner because the previous investigator disappeared while on the same case. Her partner unfortunately has a bad case of high-altitude sickness. It sends him to the hospital and off the case. Earlier in the day she watched Blake Wolff walk the family dog and trying to use the snowblower. So, Nicole doesn’t draw attention she enlists Blake’s help. Blake’s sister, Nicole and the suspect have a past connection past. The Wolff family offers to help Nicole with her case. The Wolff family give her a perspective on the case she would never have thought of. Blake and Nicole get to know each other as they work the case. They keep finding new information about the suspects and that instead of two there are three men instead of the two men. The missing private investigator shows up to take back the case only Nicole won’t give it up and is able to stay on the case. The people of Silvertown enlist her to solve a couple of cases for them. The town and Blake want to have her stay in Silvertown. Nicole’s brother surprises her by showing up early from the military. When supplies go missing from the ski lodge, it’s up to her brother to find the suspects. The two families blend well together. Nicole and Blake get closer and he realizes that he doesn’t want her to leave. They try to figure that they need DNA to prove their case. The local police are very helpful with the case. A plan is made when her brother figured out who stole the supplies from the lodge and hopefully won’t tip off her suspects. Blake and Nicole reveal their feelings for each other and decide to become mated. Plans are for the future. An overheard conversation has them wanting to wrap up the case before the suspects leave the area. Nicole and Blake are following the suspects while they ski and witness a disagreement. They realize that the area is prone to avalanches, which they trigger, and a rescue gets underway. The avalanche also caught innocent bystanders. It takes the rescuers several hours to find one of the suspects. All three are arrested. Nicole and Blake start to figure out their wedding plans and the Silvertown pack grows by four.
Terry Spear returns you to Silvertown and brings the newest members of Silvertown’s pack to the forefront with You Had Me at Wolf. A Story with a little suspense and some who dun nit along with a whole lot of love. Two people that aren’t looking for love come together when their fake relationship becomes real while a private investigator works the case that brought her to town. A sexy, story that can have you wondering if they’ll be able to solve their case. Welcome back to Silvertown for the first book in the Wolff Brothers series. Can’t wait to hear the story of Landon Wolff. Hopefully, Ms. Spears will write the stories of the Wolff sisters as well.

*There seems to be confusion on the main female’s name. In the e-ARC I received from NetGalley, she was Nicole so that’s what I’ve used in this review.*

You Had Me At Wolf begins the spin-off series, Wolff Brothers which is connected to the Silver Town Wolf series. The Wolff brothers, along with their two sisters own and operate the ski lodge outside of Silver Town. Wolf shifters themselves, this family is slowly coming to see the area as their new home and with a pack that is accepting and a bit quirky as well they’re feeling comfortable here. Well, maybe Blake is having a day between Rosco’s antics and the danged snowblower acting up – when a sexy she-wolf plants one on him… yeah, it’s been a day, and it’s only going to get more interesting and complicated as time goes on.

Nicole is hot on the trail of an insurance fraud case, and a man she’s had on her radar since her military days. Although she owns her own company, for this case she was paired with another investigator from another company to act as a couple as they traced down the slippery criminal behind the fraud. Only, that isn’t working as intended as her partner has altitude sickness so she’s taken on another partner – one sexy wolf shifter who might be far more than she expected at their first meeting. Nicole, Blake, and one adorable Saint Bernard pup named Rosco are on the case and it’s about to get intense in so many ways.

I had a good time back in this world, and it’s always a treat to return to this “universe” where anything is possible. Blake and Nicole had sparks flying from the very start, they fit well together, even if Nicole had some hesitation. The suspense is well played with a vile villain to deal with. We get glimpses of secondary characters that I’m hoping will soon have their own stories told, along with a few familiar faces. You Had Me At Wolf is fast-paced, intense at times, steamy at others, with laughter well mixed in. I had fun, and if you love a good Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance then you’ll enjoy this start to the series.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

This was a bit of a fun book but I found it a little too hunky dory. I expected more action from a story about a PI wolf shifter searching for a criminal. I wanted more than just watching and waiting. It was the same thing every day. It did give the h & H time to get to know each other but that's about it.
I probably won't read anymore in the series.

3.5 stars-- YOU HAD ME AT WOLF is the first instalment in Terry Spear’s contemporary, adult WOLFF BROTHERS paranormal, romance series-a spin off from the author’s Silver Town Wolf series. This is Private Investigator, former special agent in the US Army Criminal Investigation Command, and Gray wolf shifter Nicole Grayson, and Wolff Timberline ski lodge owner Blake Wolff’s story line. You do not have to have read the original series to understand or follow Wolff Brothers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Nicole and Blake) YOU HAD ME AT WOLFF follows the building relationship between is Private Investigator, former special agent in the US Army Criminal Investigation Command, and Gray wolf shifter Nicole Grayson, and ski lodge owner Blake Wolff. Nicole Grayson, a gray wolf shifter is an insurance fraud investigator, and her latest assignment took her to Silver Town, a shifter run town, where the Wolff brothers owned and ran a local ski lodge. When her partner in the investigations took sick, Nicole found herself face to face with Blake Wolff, and the Wolff extended pack and family, as our heroine investigated the case of insurance fraud involving a once-dead client who is very much alive. What ensues is the building relationship between Nicole and Blake, as they work together to reveal the truth.

The relationship between Blake and Nicole is one of immediate attraction but Nicole is only in town for a short time as she investigates a case of fraud. While Nicole had no intention of extending her time in Silver town, the developing relationship between herself and Blake forces Nicole to reconsider the future, and the future of her own extended family. Blake knows that Nicole is the one but they must first uncover the truth with the help of his Pack, and extended family. The $ex scenes are intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Blake’s large extended family including his brothers Landon, Brandon and sisters Kayla and Roxie, Pack leaders Darien and Lelandi Silver, Nicole’s brother Nate, as well as several members of the Silver Town Pack previously introduced in the original series.

YOU HAD ME AT WOLF is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love. The slow building premise is entertaining but so much of the story line felt like filler-from the many detailed dinners to side stories, that had nothing to do with the overall premise. The characters are numerous, colorful and energetic; the romance is passionate but I didn’t feel the palpable sexual attraction.

You Had Me at Wolf is my first book by Terry Spear. It's the start of her new paranormal romantic suspense series, Wolff Brothers.

PI wolf shifter Josie Grayson is on the case to uncover a criminal and his accomplice attempting to get away with insurance fraud. When her partner for the case ends up sick she improvises and uses shifter Blake Wolff as her fake fiancé and cover story. Turns out he's the co-owner of the hotel she's staying at, and she also knows his sister from one of her past cases. With the help of his family and the local wolf pack she tries to collect enough evidence of her suspects before they move. She arrived hoping to catch a criminal, she didn't expect to find her mate.

I don't know what to say about this book. The plot itself is entertaining but the execution was just a swing and a miss for me. I felt like it was never going to end, usually when I am enjoying a book I get so lost in it that I don't notice how much I have or haven't read and that wasn't the case with this book. At 22% in I liked the characters but there seemed to be constant information drops that never ended, and they actually continued through the rest of the book. By halfway there was too much theorizing going on between the characters about what may or may not have been going on with the suspects. Over wording left me feeling disconnected with the actual characters. The intimate scenes between the two main characters were also not my cup of the tea, some of the word choices made me cringe and oh my gosh their actually declaration of love was the most anticlimactic I have ever read.

This review ended up way more of a rant than I wanted it to be but unfortunately there just wasn't much I enjoyed about this one. While it may be great for some paranormal suspense readers it was just not for me.

You Had Me at Wolf by Terry Spear

Wolff Brothers series book 1. A spinoff of The Silver Town wolf pack series.
Paranormal wolf shifter romantic suspense.
Private Investigator Nicole Grayson has tracked down her suspect and is doing surveillance in the Colorado ski resort. She is soon friends with the Wolf pack that runs the hotel because of a hot kiss in the hotel lobby and an unsolved case from her past.

Sparks and sizzle between Nicole and Blake have the couple enamored with each other from the first time they meet lips. He’s adorable in his lust and protectiveness. She’s competent and confident in her job skills. While they generate a lot of heat and sex in the second half of the book, the feeling I got was more “how sweet” that’s he’s so drawn to her.
Overall an entrancing read.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.

This is book 1 in the Wolff Brothers series and is an offshoot from the Silver Town Wolves series. Blake Wolff and his family have moved to Silver Town and opened a ski resort. They have always wanted to live in a shifter controlled area and this town seems like the perfect fit for them. They plan on things being quiet but they never planned on what is coming their way. Private investigator Josie Grayson has come to the ski lodge on the trail of a criminal. But when her partner falls ill-she pulls Blake into her investigation in order to help. Not only does he step up and help but so does his whole family, and now she has to decide on whether she wants to see where something between them could lead or to go back home when her case is solved.

I really liked this one! Blake is this beyond sweet man who not only wants to truly help Josie but he is just genuinely nice. He has a heart of gold and isn't afraid to show his friends and family that he cares about them. Josie is a woman who stands up for the things she believes in and isn't afraid to do the hard things when necessary. But even while doing them-she still has this caring and depth that you can't help but like. My only drawback was that parts of the story seemed a little slow to develop. Other than that-excellent start to this series! I can't wait to get the rest of the siblings stories, including Josie's!

While for the most part I enjoyed this read, it was not without any issues. As for what I really liked: the paranormal and romantic suspense themes, the humor and the entertaining cast of characters. As for what didn't work for me: I thought that the pacing was slow and although I liked Josie and Blake and thought they shared some cute moments I just didn't get that deep connection or the intense chemistry that I wanted to see and feel. Still, overall it was an entertaining book that left me more than willing to read the next book in this series.
