Nicole is staying at a ski lodge in Silver Town to investigate the possible insurance fraud being committed by one of the lodge's guests. When her partner gets sick, she needs another partner, so she enlists the help of Blake Wolff, one of the lodge owners. Blake is attracted to Nicole so he's more than happy to help her. As the investigation heats up, Blake realizes how much he's come to care for Nicole. Will he be able to convince Nicole there's more to life than work...and that they are perfect for each other?

What a fun and interesting book! There's wolf shifters, bad guys, and a romance...a perfect trifecta. I enjoyed it very much.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.

Nicole was conducting surveillance for her investigation into a fraudulent life insurance claim. A man was struggling to start a snowblower. He was the same man she’d seen walking a Saint Bernard this morning. The dog had taken chase after a rabbit and dragged the man with him. The wan was a wolf shifter. She shouldn’t watch the guy but since he was a hunky wolf. Nicole entered the warm, toasty lodge. Her thoughts shifted to Larry Thonton who was working as her partner on this case. Her partner was suffering from high altitude sickness. She pulled her ski boots out. She planned to wear them to look like she was skiing while she observed her suspects. Larry worked for another private insurance firm while Nicole had her own agency. Oscar Kovac was the policy holder. She put her ski goggles into her jacket pockets she would wear them when she was outside watching for Rhys -as he went by now.-and his partner in crime-his cousin William Kovac. Larry and Nicole were to pretend to be a couple while keeping the suspects under surveillance Landan and Blade were two of the quadruplets in their family. Their sisters Roxy and Kayla who planned to join them as soon as the other ski lodge in Vermont sold. Landan and Blake owned the ski lodge. The brothers had worked hard to take business away from other wolves. They now belonged to a pack. Then as Blake was talking to his brother he recognized the woman he had noticed watching him and Roscoe. He also knew she was a wolf. She came up to him, hugged him and then kissed him. Soon he realized the kiss was getting more than it should be in a family friendly lodge. Blake broke the kiss and asked if she knew him. She answered “I’m Nicole Grayson and you’re my fiance for the moment. My life depends on it.” Blake frowned, worrying she was really in trouble. Larry was no better when she checked on him so she took him to the clinic and from there he went to the hospital. Blake was still willing to carry on as her fiance. He really likes Nicole. After Nicole returned to the lodge they had lunch.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a romance with some adventure, danger and suspense thrown in. I loved Blake and Nicole and how they interacted. I loved the closeness of Blake and his siblings. I loved how close Nicole was to her twin as well as her parents. I loved her parents were willing to move to be close to Nicole. I loved that Nicole kept her attention to her job even with her attraction to Blake. I loved how Blake, his family, and the pack were all willing to help Nicole. I wish I could have rated this 4.5. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it.

I'm a little confused by this because when I checked reviews the heroine has a different name to the copy I have. In my copy her name is Nicole and she's a private investigator trying to catch out someone who is trying to defraud the company she and her partner are working for. She's tracked the guy to a ski resort run by Wolves but things are not exactly straightforward because she's run across the suspect in her past life as a member of the military.
I haven't read a book by this author for a while and it was lovely to read something so well written. This author excels at creating a believable world where shifters just feel so realistic. In fact if you normally read romantic suspense that doesn't really feature any paranormal aspects then this series should certainly appeal . Nicole has always known that what her powerful nose can sniff out wouldn't be admissible in court so good old traditional sleuthing is most definitely called for but when her partner gets sick she enlists the assistance of fellow Wolf Blake . Their relationship builds quite nicely as they track down the target but it's not without trouble along the way. I enjoyed this story with its fun characters and steamy romance and of course with Wolves you get Pack dynamics which are always interesting to read about.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

So so....

Blake and Nicole have a sweet relationship and the mystery is fun to solve. The story felt full of useless fluff as if the author was trying to just hit a word count.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

YOU HAD ME AT WOLF is the first book in Terry Spear’s “Wolff Brothers” series set in her wolf shifter-run Silver Town. For me, YOU HAD ME AT WOLF is evocative of some of my favorite books, films, and TV shows of the 1950s and 1960s like Agatha Christies book THE PALE HORSE, the film CAST A DARK SHADOW, and the classic British spy series The Avengers. With private investigator and wolf shifter Nicole Grayson, Terry Spear has created a heroine like The Avengers’ Emma Peel who is cool, competent, and kickass. For some readers, hero Blake Wolff might seem like what is commonly referred to as a “beta hero”. To me, Blake is a sweet guy who respects Nicole for the strong woman she is, but who is also strong enough to work alongside her and help with her case on her terms.

This story follows the highs and lows associated with surveillance of a suspect. Some humans suspected of fraud are who Nicole has her sights set on. She first crossed paths with one of the suspects years ago in another case, and now she’s been hired to hunt him down for an insurance company. Over the course of the book, it’s never quite clear to readers or the investigators whether the bad guy is a murdering sociopath or just your run-of-the-mill career criminal. Things aren’t totally revealed until almost the very end, so it keeps a sense of mystery throughout the story. I liked all these characters immensely. Nicole is an intelligent and tough heroine, but one who doesn’t feel as though she has anything to prove. Blake is charming and not threatened by Nicole’s strength and capabilities. Since Blake owns and runs the ski lodge with his family, they are uniquely qualified to help Nicole with her sting operation. It may be unconventional to have a hero and heroine meet and pursue a courtship while working surveillance on some bad guys, but Terry Spear makes it work and balances the action with the romance.

YOU HAD ME AT WOLF is a winter wonderland of adventure and plenty of wolf-on-wolf wooing. I loved the supporting characters in YOU HAD ME AT WOLF and I’m eager to read more about them in future books especially Nate and Kayla. I look forward to Terry Spear’s next paranormal romance.

There’s nothing worse for a crime investigator than having that one job hanging over their past that never saw closure. It would certainly be worse for someone who had damning evidence that could never be admissible in court. A wolf’s nose may know but that isn’t enough when the perp is human. Now the bad guy is dead…or is he?
Nicole Grayson is good at her job and loves owning her own PI firm in Denver. Her success rate at catching people in insurance fraud has landed her a job that may just help bring closure to an early case in her career that never got justice. It also puts her in close contact with family who owns the Timberline Ski Lodge just out side of Silver Town, CO. More specifically, it puts her in close cover with one Blake Wolff.
Blake and his family moved to Colorado to be together and find connections by being part of the Silver Town wolf pack. He never expected the gray wolf who shows up looking to take down a couple of his lodge guests to be the mate his wolf longs for.
Their story is sweet. Blake will do whatever it takes to keep Nicole safe as she investigates the not-so-dead man and his cousin (who benefited from his death) staying on the fourth floor. The men are clever at cover their tracts and then there’s an additional surprise that I didn’t see coming.
The romance between Blake and Nicole heats up towards the end as does the action in the mystery she’s trying to solve. There’s never really any conflict between Blake and Nicole that has to be worked out so I felt a little let down, looking for growth, new discovery, a reason to cheer on their HEA.
They do have a beautiful future ahead of them, surrounded by family and a super supportive pack. I just didn’t feel a whole lot of chemistry between them that I look for in romance in general but especially paranormal. There’s a lot of telling in this book and it was very informative on the dangers of being caught in an avalanche. It was obvious Ms Spears did her homework there.
Still, the story in itself is complete. The bad guys are established early, her reason for being at the lodge is legit and the way she and Blake come together works. All in all, a good addition to the Silver Town saga of books with plenty of new characters to work in to new layers of the series.

This review is not going to be long. I am not a huge fan of a review rehashing the entire plot and spoiling it for everyone.

This is the first book by Terry Spear that I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Her style of writing. keeps you interested and waiting for more. I cannot wait to read more of her books.

I received an ARC of this book to read in exchange for a fair review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Grab a cup of hot chocolate and come enjoy this romp on the ski slopes and sleuth out the truth. Terry delivers wolf packs, family and love . The blurb says Josie is a P.I., but it's Nicole in the book. She comes to Silver Town searching for Rhys, to prove he faked his own death for insurance money. The Inn is new and owned by the Wolff Family. Everyone at the town and Inn are wolf shifters. Humans allowed :) Nicole introduces herself to Blake with a kiss 😘. The plot showed the day in and out of P.I. investigating, the hard work, not always glamorous. The build up of Nicole and Blake relationship was right on. The steamy bed scenes had some sizzle and the subplots with Nicole and Silver Town were great. I thank Terry and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

You Had Me at Wolf is the first in a new series. I loved that the lead character was a smart, strong independent female wolf shifter. This story had me laughing out loud and gasping with shock. A fun ride and a terrific lead in to the next book.

This is the first in a new series from Spear which is nice to see but of course it is in the same genre as Heart Of The Wolf series which is 28 books in (wow!) so seeing this is the same genre there didn’t seem all that different.

The story was fine. I liked the characters and liked how after a difficult previous meeting Nicole stands up to Blake and stands on her own two feet. I liked the Wolff brothers very much.

But that being said it is not too far from the other series but if you are a fan of the genre you won’t want to miss this book especially since it is the first in the series.

First in a new series and can't wait to see what is next. Set at a Ski lodge in Colorado we meet the Wolff family, who are wolf shifters. They are owners of the ski lodge.
PI Josie Grayson is also a wolf shifter. She shows up because she is following a criminal hiding at the lodge, As soon as she walks in she doesn't want the person to see her so she grabs Blake Wolff and plants one on him as if they are lovers. Which throws Blake off but hey he will go with it. Her PI partner is very sick so she can't pretend she is with him. As she continues to uncover things with the criminal, things continue to heat up between her and Blake. Now Blake just needs to convince her that she belongs to stay here and be his mate.
I received this from Casablanca and NetGalley for review.

You Had Me at Wolf is a fun and entertaining paranormal cozy mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderfully layered plot that left me completely captivated and utterly enthralled. There was never a dull moment, and I loved the non-stop action and mystery. I also enjoyed the personal growth and action between our memorable characters. They kept things warmed up and constantly on edge as their relationship deepened and the story unfolded. What exciting fun!

Nicole found herself chasing her next case, but she never expected to find more then just her suspects waiting for her. Nothing prepared her to find so much more then the normal clues and evidence in order to convict the felons she was tracking. This case would literally change her life in addition to being one of the more complex cases she ever took on. As co owner of the ski resort that Nicole finds herself at, Blake is thrown off kilter when she kisses him before even shaking his hand or saying hello. Don't get me wrong, he certainly isn't complaining about it one bit. In fact, he can't stay away from this mysterious woman, and the more he learns about her the more he wants to know. She is changing everything for him, and he couldn't be happier about this mew development. Can Nicole follow her heart and not risk missing an important piece of the puzzle, or will she find that she can breathe and enjoy life even while she is on the hunt?

I was a goner then I met Nicole and then Blake. Nicole is a brilliant and driver woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. Even still, she wouldn't be oppsed to be more if it is offered. Blake is a down-to-earth sweetheart who is hoping for more one day then just his day to day life. Neither is actively looking and yet when they run into each other, it is literally like the Earth tilted off its axis because they can't get enough of the other. Hopelessly drawn to the other, they find a blessedly wonderful helpmate and more passionate heat then they ever dreamed possible. Their future is looking brighter if they only choose to take a leap of faith and follow their heart.

I found myself becoming a big fan of Terry Spear while experiencing the wonder and majesty of this amazing story. She is a very meticulous writer who stole my breath a few times throughout this fun journey. This story left me a smiling and happy mess afterwards. What a beautiful world full of wonder and family and love. I couldn't have asked for anything more!

Working on an expected insurance fraud at an sky ressort, PI detective Nicole's partner fells ill of altitude sickness. In need of support for disguising her job, she kisses a man she'd just seen twice - but he's no ordanary man and neither is his family.

I really enjoyed this one and I think a big part of why was Nicole. I liked loved that she hated how Rhys sort of got the better of her in the past and that this time around she wasn't going to let that happen. The way that she first saw Blake had me laughing, but better was how she reacted when she talked to him. It was fun to see how all the Wolff siblings got in on the action to help Nicole, to see how the whole Silver pack slowly butted in and even Nicole's familys reaction. I was glad that Nicole got her man, in more than one way, and how she was able to find her place in the world.

The Wolff family has moved to Silver Town Colorado and opened a ski lodge. They’ve joined the local wolf pack and are becoming acclimated to their new territory. Nicole Grayson is a PI is on the trail of some guys guilty of insurance fraud who are staying at the Wolff ski lodge. Nicole's partner is ill and Blake Wolff steps in to help her investigate. This is a new series but I suspect it’s a spinoff from another series. The story is good but...it just plods along with little or no action. There are many ski runs and meals taken near the bad guys but it just feels like nothing happens, no excitement. The author is unnecessarily verbose. She adds detail after superfluous detail. I don’t need to know the color of Nicole’s ski suit or when she changes from snow shoes to ski boots or what she ordered for every meal. If it doesn’t pertain to the plot, don’t include it! The dialog was bland and the romance was lackluster. The sex scenes were boring, too. All in all, the storyline was good but needs a lot of editing. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC In exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I have DNF it.

I am sorry, but this book wasn't the right one for me. The beginning was quite interesting, and I love werewolves so I was intrigued. The mystery part was fascinating and the setting was just perfect. But the pace is too slow-going for my liking, and even if it started out very good I found my interest wandering during the reading. I couldn't pay any attention to the story and I was more bored than not.

A town run by wolf shifters is where Nicole, a wolf shifter P.I., finds herself while investigating a case of possible insurance fraud. Blake is part owner of the ski resort where she is staying undercover. The two work together, after her partner gets sick, to find the answers needed and to keep the town safe. The entire community hopes for Nicole to stay and offers her a pack she has never experienced. A fun and exciting book that keeps you on your toes!

YOU HAD ME AT WOLF by Terry Spear is the first book in the Wolff Brothers paranormal romantic suspense series. While the prologue is set in Fort Meade, Maryland, the main story line is set in Silver Town, Colorado. Our protagonist is Denver-based Private Investigator and Gray Wolf shifter Josie Grayson who is working an insurance fraud case at a ski lodge. When a fellow investigator gets altitude sickness, Josie enlists the help of one of the lodge owners.

Josie is a strong female lead that is someone you can root for. Her goals are clear and believable. The supporting characters are well-rounded and enhance the story. It had plenty of suspense, some humor, and the romance did not heat up until the second half of the book with some steamy scenes. The descriptions were vivid without detracting from the flow of the story. It also had several themes running through it including insurance fraud, the importance of family, friendship and much more.

Overall, the plot was intriguing and contemporary. I was immediately interested in this novel. The prose was well-written and engrossing. The story entertaining, paced well, and well worth reading. However, the cover doesn’t quite fit with the story line. I would have expected Josie to be depicted on it. If you enjoy good contemporary paranormal romantic suspense novels, then this author may be one you will enjoy as much as I did. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Meanwhile, I am going to check out her Silver Town Wolf series.

Thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and Terry Spear for a digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
