Taylor has just broken up with her abusive boyfriend, and has been humiliated by him and wants revenge,,, then things get more complicated and she finds herself in a game of cat and mouse . Who will outsmart who?

I enjoyed the overall story and plot. The Angus character was quite despicable in - in a good way for a novel, The narrator, Taylor, I didn’t necessarily love but overall this was a fun read with lots of twists and turns,

3.5 ⭐️

Many thanks to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Landmark, and Pip Drysdale for the opportunity to read and review her debut novel - 4.5 stars for a book I couldn't put down!

Taylor is involved with bad boy Angus. She knows he can be abusive but he's always sorry afterwards. She knows he does drugs and that makes things worse. She can't even tell her mom and best friend, Charlotte, all that he does because they already don't like him. But when they break up and he releases a sex tape online, she is bound for revenge. Using a copy of The Art of War as motivation, she begins plotting ways to get back at Angus. But things don't go according to plan and soon Taylor's life is spinning out of her control.

I was spellbound to this book to see how it would all work out for Taylor. As someone who has been in an abusive relationship, so much was dead on about conflicting feelings and secrecy. Fabulous debut - can't wait to read more from this author!

Taylor is trying to get on with her life after a breakup with someone she thought was the love of her life. Angus turned out to be a drug addict, incapable of quitting. Taylor consults "The Art of War" in an attempt to get revenge but things take a turn when Angus comes back around and convinces Taylor he's sober and changed. Taylor quickly realizes that Angus hasn't changed and it comes at a terrible price. This book was so intense I read it in one night. I was hooked and couldn't wait to find out what the ending would be like. Taylor is able to outsmart Angus and the ending was great. There are a few triggers when it comes to domestic violence. *I want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.**

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the ARC of The Sunday Girl by Pip Drysdale. I was intrigued by the description that says “Girl on the Train meets Before I Go to Sleep,” as these are two of my favorite thrillers. However, after reading this book, I believe it’s more like Our Kind of Cruelty meets My Lovely Wife.

Taylor and Angus are madly in love. Or are they? After Angus posts a sex video of Taylor on the internet, she breaks up with him and sets her sights on revenge. Using Sun Tzu’s The Art of War as inspiration, she sets her plan into motion. When her plan backfires, she is forced to think quickly on her feet in order to avoid being caught.

Told in a series of journal entries over a period of three and a half weeks, Drysdale cleverly depicts a game of cat and mouse between scorned lovers. The tension runs high and the suspense consistently builds between Taylor and her sociopath boyfriend. Who will win? This is a very fast and addicting read and kept my interest throughout the entirety. I did figure out many of the twists early, but was surprised by the rushed ending. I would have liked more of the story to play out and was a bit let down that it was over so soon. Overall, I recommend this book to fans of fast-paced psychological thrillers.

4/5 stars

So this book is wild. Reading it made me edgy and a little cranky. And I couldn't put it down.

Taylor is not the type of main character who elicits much sympathy. In fact, I didn't like her. Her doormat behavior is irksome, at best, and she makes a succession of stupid choices. But this is the reality for a lot of women who, for whatever reasons, are easily controlled by the men in their life. While I didn't like her, I understood her, and her behavior made sense within the context of her personality and lifestyle.

The writing is fantastic. The pace is quick. The content is insane!

I want to talk about all the craziness that went on here, but I can't because spoilers abound. If you want to know how quickly a life can spiral out of control, read this book. Then we can talk.

What is a Sunday Girl? She's the one that you take home to meet your parents. The one that looks good on your arm for both social and business occasions. But she's not the one you want. Meet Taylor, the Sunday Girl. Taylor is head over heels in love with Angus, a jerk with a drug and temper problem. But Taylor likes a good fixer upper. When Angus breaks up with Taylor just prior to a couples vacation and takes another woman, something snaps inside of her. Snaps and reshapes itself into a steaming, unthinking ball of revenge. That's when it all gets good. That is until Taylor starts to have regrets and things get out of hand. It's move and countermove over who is getting one over the other. Great ride with a few bumps along the way but so entertaining.

I enjoyed this debut novel from Pip Drysdale. The Sunday Girl was a unique take on a revenge story and was fun to read. I didn't totally love the ending but would recommend the book to fans of this type of story.

Excellent debut novel about a girl who seeks revenge on an ex, but the revenge plot gets out of hand. While I didn’t love the ending, it was still a great psychological thriller and would recommend to friends.

what I learned from this book is that I would never be able to get away with murder! The protagonist in this book, Taylor, is so smart but so is her antagonist, her psycho drug addict boyfriend Angus. Taylor knows she has to get away from Angus even if she is his “Sunday Girl, but will he outsmart and out maneuver her!?

The Sunday Girl is the one you want at the end of the week - the nice girl who would make a good wife. Taylor is Angus' Sunday Girl - until a bad break up and a sex-tape uploaded without permission turns the tables. Taylor is out for revenge, but Angus is still set on The Sunday Girl. Who will win a test of wits?

I had a few mixed feelings throughout this one, because I've had a hard time with these kind of thrillers lately, but this one took a turn for the better fortunately. Taylor was an otherwise likeable character, the nice girl, trying to get revenge on her ex-boyfriend and you can't help but feel a little sorry for her, while also shaking your head at some of her decisions. Angus is obviously a character you're meant to hate, which you immensely do. Both characters display some awful traits, make horrible decisions and make it hard to cheer either on, but I overall enjoyed the storyline and outcome. The ending was a lot better than I had hoped it to be, even if it was a little unrealistic. I do highly recommend this one to any who like psychological thrillers and I look forward to more from Pip Drysdale!

I requested this book after being drawn into the description and cover. And that's where the enthrallment ends for me. I dnf after a few pages because I couldn't get into the flow of the writing style.

After her tumultuous relationship ends, her boyfriend uploads a sex tape of her onto the internet. Furious at this act, Taylor consults The Art of War and starts thinking about ways to get back at him. But does she go too far?

I’m finding this one very hard to rate to be honest. The beginning and end were great, but I have to decide if my feelings toward the middle of the book were just frustration at the situation that was playing out, or at the choices the author made. Taylor was this strong and determined woman in spite of the abuse she had faced by her scumbag boyfriend, so when naïveté crept back in, I had a really hard time wrapping my head around the repeated dumb decisions.

She was still very easy to root for against a very black and white enemy and there were moments of cleverness that were able to shine through. I was expecting a different ending based on the opening we got, but I think I ultimately liked it more than what I was expecting it to be.

3.8 stars, rounding up.

First off I want to thank @netgalley, @sourcebooks & @pipdrysdale for my free advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Talk about an addictive fast paced thrilling read. Plus it's a debut ? I cannot wait to see what the author comes up with next.

This book was an intense back and forth between Taylor and Angus, you just can't stop until you've found out the ending. I had issues with some inconsistencies throughout the plot but it didn't take away from the book as a whole. The characters were extremely well portrayed I wanted to hate, comfort and scream at them throughout the whole book. The writing was beautiful, flowy, almost poetic I really loved the way she writes.

I truly enjoyed this debut and will definitely be on the lookout for her next books. If you're a fan of domestic thrillers definitely pick this one up !

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, right? Taylor Bishop has been scorned and she is going to make her ex-boyfriend, Angus, feel her pain. He has recently posted a sex tape she made in private for him against her consent and refuses to take it down. On top of that, he was abusive and a cheater. This time, Taylor is determined to get the upper hand. However, Angus comes begging to be taken back at her door and she feels her will crumbling.

This novel is an intense game of cat-and-mouse that you don’t really know how it’s going to end. I found it the story to go up and down with the highs and lows of Taylor’s and Angus’ relationship. I needed to know if she made him pay and if he caught on to what she was doing. Angus was so irritating and I found myself rooting for Taylor. There were a couple of inconsistencies with the resolution and plot line, but I liked how Drysdale painted a picture of her characters as a whole.

⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

Wow!! I so enjoyed reading this! I loved the way it was written and the "Art of War" references at the beginning of every chapter.

It is a story about 3 things; the why, the how and the when.
"The first domino toppled irrevocably, and one thing led to another. Because that's the thing with dominoes: easy to start, hard to stop.

This is the story of a good girl who ends up in a relationship with a really bad guy. Then Angus breaks up with Taylor and it starts a snowball effect of who is going to outsmart who. It's s also about choices. How will the choices we make affect our lives? The abuse that happens in the book can be quite upsetting for some people but that is the reality of life. Its things that happen on a daily basis. How do you deal with it and when is enough, enough?

I loved this book! Highly recommend

The first half of this book moved very slowly for me and i wondered what all the hype was about. I was actually bored as I read. Then the second half redeemed itself. Though it wasn't especially realistic and required a healthy dose of 'willing suspension of disbelief', it moved swiftly towards the conclusion and lived up to its thriller description.

The story begins as Taylor tells the reader about her recent break-up with her boyfriend Angus and how much the break-up has devastated her. However the more Taylor reveals about her relationship, the more the reader learns that Angus isn’t such a good guy and Taylor is really better off without him. But of course, Taylor doesn’t stay away from him. She starts with revenge, but when Angus asks her to get back together, she does. And things just get worse from there.
This book was hard to put down. Taylor continually alluded to how much worse things were going to get, and you had to keep reading to figure out what was going to happen.
The writing flowed well and this was a solid debut novel.
