Taylor gets dumped by her abusive boyfriend and wants to enact revenge. Most of the first half of the book is Taylor making excuses about her boyfriend and going back to him...until she finds out that everything is not what it seems. Thus starts a cat and mouse chase unbeknownst to Taylor. I liked that it was a fast passed read...and the last 1/3 of the book was gripping. Two things that were annoying was that Tayler was not an empathetic character until the last third of the book...I did not care about what happened to her (because I thought “you brought this on your self!) Although not as gripping as other thrillers this was a fast read. (trigger warnings for language, abuse and sexual situations)

4.5 Stars!

Many of us have probably known a woman like The Sunday Girl protagonist, Taylor, and some of us might have found ourselves in situations like hers, so I tried not to judge her too harshly as she moved from one catastrophic man-mistake to the other. When Taylor finally decides to take control of her life the plot deepens in fascinating ways. I couldn’t put the book down.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel, which alternately made me cringe or laugh out loud. Exceptional writing and storytelling make this a highly readable thriller with a most satisfying ending. Many thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for providing an ARC for review.

SO GOOD. Every single thriller and suspense fan will want to read this, and you need to! The Sunday Girl by Pip Drysdale was just as wonderful as I hoped. I heard about this author on Instagram and was so happy and grateful and excited to read this book. I was not disappointed!

With suspenseful chapters that leave you breathless, you will read this in one sitting. I love a kind of cat-and-mouse type story like this.

Synopsis:

Any woman who’s ever been involved with a bad, bad man and been dumped will understand what it feels like to be broken, broken-hearted and bent on revenge. Taylor Bishop is hurt, angry and wants to destroy Angus Hollingsworth in the way he destroyed her: Insidiously. Irreparably. Like a puzzle, he’d slowly dissembled … stolen a couple of pieces from, and then discarded, knowing that nobody would ever be able to put it back together ever again. So Taylor consulted The Art of War and made a plan. Then she took the next step – one that would change her life forever.

Then things get really out of control – and The Sunday Girl becomes impossible to put down.

I like how Taylor took her inspiration from Sun Tzu’s classic book “The Art Of War” and used it to get revenge on Angus. But Angus is a dangerous man and things look like they are going to backfire on Taylor… I don’t want to ruin anything but trust me, you will want to get your hands on this book ASAP.

I enjoyed this book. I liked the story and I liked the writing and I liked the protagonist. I just think some of her actions were a bit stupid. I did read it all in one sitting.

I kind of went into this one blind and was so glad I did. I thought it would be more of a “fluff” book to read in between my thrillers but it surprised me by messing with me head! The Sunday Girl by Pip Drysdale is a creative take on a modern thriller. It deals with love, loss, cheating, the perils of the internet, and an awful excuse for a human being. It’s written in a clever way that makes it a quick “light” read, even though it’s a thriller that deals with tough content. I was very pleased with this one and will be looking for more from this author in the future.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this electronic ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When Taylor is dumped by her boyfriend, who mentally and physically abused her, she vow to get revenge. Using The Art of War as a loose guide, she pulls a few petty tricks..... only to find out that her ex is way worse than she thought -- and is also a step ahead of her and her plans. The plot devolves into a tense game between the two characters, and I was on the edge of my seat while reading. The writing, and the characters, are clever and intense, and I couldn't put this novel down. A must-read, for sure.

Just when you think you’ve met the perfect man, he turns out to be a real creep. Taylor Bishop found out the hard way that Angus Hollingsworth was the worst kind of man after he trashed her and broke her heart. But she’s not willing to sit back and do nothing, so she begins a plan to destroy him…..but can she keep herself from imploding? Twisty, tense and impossible to put down
