Greta and the Giants disappoints as a children's picture book due to its narrow focus on promoting Greta Thunberg as a role model. While I appreciate the intention of addressing climate change, the book's failure to present diverse perspectives leaves much to be desired. It primarily glorifies protesting, neglecting the importance of taking concrete action to effect change. Children's literature should encourage critical thinking and empower young minds to explore various solutions to global issues. I believe children deserve a more balanced and comprehensive approach to complex topics like climate change. I cannot recommend this book for fostering a holistic understanding of the subject.

I really do not understand the basis of making this picture book. Rather than hailing illiterate children who further inspire more to leave school, there must be stories of beings who are worth following traits of.

No doubt the illustrations were par better and that's the only reason that make me go till end else there was everything so waste.of time. There is one Culture-less, arrogant girl who instead of working on saving the climate roam around the world in aircrafts and travel in big low-average giving Cars to speak on saving climate and that too by carrying paper placards. Contributing in depleting ozone layer, increasing deforestation, and many such anti-climatic events are her only acts.

I would give One star rating to it and that too only for illustrations.

First and foremost, I loved the art style in this story. The parable here is a good way to tell this kind of story to children without overwhelming them. I also liked how the story ended optimistically and later elaborated that we are still fighting our giants. I also checked out a "Who is" book from our library to help explain further/more factually to my older kids.

The illustrations in this book are absolutely beautiful. This book's main character is based off a real human and should empower children to know that "no one is too small to make a difference."

Asked by the animals of the forest to help them to defeat the greedy who were destroying forests and ruining the air. She pondered the problem and started to make her ideas known. Soon others who agreed that the problems could be made known without violence joined her. And together they proved that "No one is too small to make a difference."
It's a good reminder to keep up the good work that Greta started.
The illustrations by Zoe Persico are fun, tinged with a bit of whimsey, colorful, and delightful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or your public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. Thank you! I bought one for granddaughter, too.

For a book with so few pages and little words, it can honestly make the biggest impact. That's what this book did, especially to me. Can we just talk about the illustrations for a minute... they are OUT OF THIS WORLD. They are stunning and I want (NO, NEED) more of these for my own home. The story is simple yet so incredibly important and I really do believe this should be taught in all schools and for all years and ages. It's so important that we get children (and adults, come on lets face it), educated about climate change and the importance of acting on it and not just letting someone else do it and having that negative mentality of "not being able to do anything so therefore why should you bother?" The book outlines Greta's stand on how we can and must save this planet before it's too late and it's done effortlessly. Kudos to both the author and the illustrator for creating this beautiful and incredibly stunning book that EVERYONE who lives on this planet should read. Thank you.

Thank you to NetGalley for sending me a copy of this book.

Loved this one. Easy to digest story about climate change and what we can do to help the earth, as inspired by Greta Thunberg. Beautiful illustrations too! Read it with my preschooler who was also enamoured and full of questions about climate change afterwards. Thank you for the complimentary reading copy.

Greta and the Giants by Zoe Tucker is a beautifully written and illustrated book about saving our environment and Greta Thunbergs fight to save our planet.

After Greta witnesses the giants move in and take over the forest by taking all of the resources and materials the forest provides, she decides to fight against them in protest in an effort to save the forest and the animals that inhabit it. The book depicts the strength and courage it has taken Greta to standup for our Earth in reality and has illustrated the fight in a way children are able to absorb and comprehend what we can do to save our planet. I highly recommend this book, especially with Earth day coming up so soon, and I have previously used the book in a Storytime at the library, which sparked many conversations about our planet and what we can do to take care of it.

A beautifully optimistic and heartwarming story inspired by Greta Thunberg's climate activism. The illustrations are gorgeous and I love the environmentalist message. It's an excellent introduction to climate activism told though an almost fairy-tale like story. This is one I absolutely would recommend to everyone.

Greta and the Giants is a beautifully illustrated book capturing the interest of both children and adults alike.
With a captivating story and stunning illustrations this book would be hard to pass up.
The storyline is important and yet easy to follow for younger readers. The back of the book adds an in-depth look at Greta's life story which is a fantastic addition.

This would make a wonderful addition to any child's home library and is an important book for introducing the topic of climate change to children.

I was gifted a digital copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the digital review copy to read and leave feedback on. I'm torn on this one: first of all, the illustrations are incredible and bring the forest to life in such a captivating way. It feels like a classic fairy tale forest and a modern tale all at once through the style alone. But the actual message, I'm less convinced about. I think if this were purely a fictional story about a little girl who wanted to stop the thoughtless giants from ruining the forest, it would be very cute and effective to show that all it took were some people to stand up and raise awareness. It's presuming that the giants didn't know the harm they were causing, and as soon as they were made aware of their consequences, they seemed like they really wanted to help out and do better. But because this is an allegory of actual Greta Thunberg's story, we just know that's not the case. We know the "giants" aren't unaware of their harm when we're talking about big polluters and massive corporations, and we know they're not so easily convinced they need to stop (because we've asked nicely.) I do, though, think that this is a good way to introduce the issue to younger readers in a way they'll be able to grasp.

Greta and the Giants is a delightful children's story inspired by the work of the young climate activist, Greta Thunberg. The book is beautifully illustrated and the pictures are bound to charm young readers, given that even a (much) older reader like me found them irresistible!

The story is about a young girl called Greta, who lives in the forest. After she observes that Giants are pillaging the resources of the forest and decimating the wildlife habitat in order to build their homes and factories, Greta decides that they must be stopped.

Unafraid of these marauding invaders, she begins her protest by holding up a sign. Soon other children and the animals too are emboldened by her efforts and join her crusade. And eventually, even the Giants are persuaded to see the error of their ways.

Since the real giants aka climate sceptics and barbarian capitalists are yet to be persuaded of the need to be kinder to the planet, I was glad to see that the book includes additional resources for young children to explore, since the burden of dealing with the climate crisis will fall squarely on their shoulders in the decades to come.

With that in mind, my friend had earlier purchased this book as a hardback for her young children. I was so impressed with the quality of the illustrations and the sweetness of the story that I applied for my own copy from Netgalley. Unfortunately, I did face some tech challenges in opening the file, so I would strongly recommend that books like this also be made available in Kindle format in future.

Nevertheless, I think the author and the illustrator did a great job with the book. I really liked how the story made the issues around climate change accessible to young children in an age-appropriate fashion, and ESPECIALLY loved the adorable illustrations!

This book was so cute and engaged the whole family. My husband recognized the story and its characters, while my children listened and immediately took up the defense of the forest like Greta. The inclusions in the back talking about the reality that this book was based on, as well as giving some ideas on how we can help, were perfect for striking up a conversation afterward. We fully intend on purchasing a physical copy to have for often re-reads in the future.

An excellent addition to any classroom or school library. This introduces younger readers to Greta Thunberg and the motivations behind her actions. Visually appealing and clearly written, this would makea good starting point for discussion. It does not offer many practical solutions for tackling climate change but, combined with other books and materials, it is an positive text to aid understanding.

Lovely book that is very topical with beautiful illustrations. Happy to share this in school. It’s good to have books showing strong female leads.

This book is a fictionalized story based on a real life girl who decided that she had to help our planet. The giants have taken over and are destroying everything. Greta is going to take a stand, and others will join her to defeat the giants and make them learn better ways. What a wonderful story of a true superhero who stood up and said Not today.

I love Greta Thunberg and this piece came in very handy when trying to share her thoughts and actions with children in KS2.
The book is beautifully illustrated and is relatable for the children (who may find the concept of climate change a bit challenging).

I purchased this book for part of my class library I enjoyed it so much!
