Well crafted thriller. A plot that has many twists and turns and kept me on the edge of my seat. You do not want to miss this book. I received an arc from the publisher and Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.

Why would Nicole hand her baby to a stranger then jump in front of a train? This is what Morgan is asking herself after Nicole gives her the baby and says keep her safe and love her. She later learns that Nicole gives her custody of the baby in her will. Who and what was Nicole afraid of? Morgan doesn’t know who she can trust as she looks for answers. This book has a lot of twist and turns and is very fast paced. But it does in my opinion slow down somewhat towards the end. Still I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes thrillers. Would definitely read more books by this author.

Woman on the edge was a really fast pace and interesting book I was so hooked from the moment I read the synopsis. The plot twist was something I feel like I saw coming but not really. I was really drawn to how they had the point of view of the characters. I would really recommend this book to anyone just because of how good it was and how it kept me wanting more.

Crazy, a bit predictable but still entertaining

Fantastic start and pace for the beginning but then it slows down a bit. The story is narrated by Morgan and Nicole. Nicole’s voice is absolutely heartbreaking as she struggles with postpartum depression. It was well written with care and sensitivity.

The story does pick back up about 3/4 of the way through and then it goes for broke with all the twists and turns. It would have been a bit more “believable” had it scaled back a bit but it was still fun.

I liked the way the author created a couple of connections between the characters, pretty clever. Good writing and characters, look forward to the next from this author.

This was a very interesting story. It was woven in such a way that you were trying to piece it all together but it was not clear until the end. The story is tragic and it demonstrates a mother’s love for her child and her deepest desire to keep them safe. The story did not disappoint.

WOW! This book is sooooooo good. I started it at 8:00 one evening and finished it by 1:00 the following afternoon. Once you start, you literally can not put it down. It is so fast paced and so many twists and turns, it will have you reading until the end. Best psychological thriller I've read in a very long time. Highly recommend.

“Woman on the Edge” was a predictable tale of betrayal. Although the story was well written, I felt it lacked depth and it was easy for me to figure out where the story was headed. Good for a quick easy read, but wasn’t the mind bending novel I was searching for.

Nicole is happily married and the CEO of Breathe, a company that develops aromatherapy, yoga clothes, and other "new age" items. She and her husband have never planned to have children, but Nicole found herself pregnant and excited about it. After having an emergency C-section, Nicole had difficulties handling her new li fe with her daughter Quinn. Her husband walks out on her and the baby. Nicole's life and mental health seems to be unraveling. Tessa, her friend from work, is the only person she can rely on.

Morgan is a social worker. Her husband committed suicide after losing millions of dollars in other people's investments. The police still cannot believe Morgan was not aware of her husband's actions. As she was getting ready to catch the subway home, Nicole, shoves her baby in Morgan's arms, tells her to take my baby, and backed off the platform in front of an oncoming train.

The police investigate Nicole's death and Morgan is suspected of pushing Nicole off the platform. Morgan does her own investigating and begins to uncover secrets Nicole has kept from everyone. If you like psychological thrillers, you'll enjoy Woman on the Edge by Samantha Bailey. It's a page-turner. I was allowed to read this on NetGalley. It will be released March 3, 2020.

Once you start this gripping story you will simply be engrossed!!!

Your heart will hurt so much for these characters. This book will keep you guessing/questioning and trying to figure out each character and their real life like problems.

Every set up/chapter this Author created flows poetically and is brilliant.

I can honestly say this is one of the best books I've ever read.

5 gripping, riveting, superb butterfly stars from me.

I eagerly await this Author's next read!!

Morgan is a widow. Her husband took his life after being found out as a huge fraudster. No one really believed Morgan knew nothing about it and her job suffered because of it. She was desperate to have a child but knew that with her background she was unlikely to be approved for adopting a child. She was on her way home from work, waiting for the subway and a woman says her name, thrusts her baby into Morgan’s arms, and jumps onto the tracks. The police do not entirely believe Morgan who says she did not know the woman, Nicole, who turns out to be the head of a successful company and a new mother. The story is written in such a way that we see into Nicole’s background and gradually learn why she is such an overprotective mother. It certainly kept me reading for longer than I should have!

This was a fast paced read. I really enjoyed this story. It was thrilling all the way to the end.
This is the kind of book that will pull you in and keep you turning pages until you've finished.
Can you imagine if a woman you don't know came up to you and told you to take her baby and keep her safe?
And you need to figure out what the heck is going on. 5 Stars!

3.5 rounding up to 4 stars. I read this in less than a day. I was interested from the beginning. The first half of the book had me wanting to keep reading and not stop. It was fast paced with lots of surprises. Somewhere in the second half I felt like the connection of the story and characters was lost. I pretty much predicted what was happening. It was still a nice quick read.

Longer review: The Woman on the Edge is about a woman who shoves her baby into the hands of a stranger on a train platform and seconds later, is hit by the train.

Crazy premise, right?

This worries me for two reasons.
1 . Because I know books with great premises inevitably let me down.
2. Because I know this book is going to deal with postpartum depression or psychosis.

Let me explain.

The book alternates between the perspective of the two women, the past of the woman who dies (Nicole) and the present of the woman who is given the baby (Morgan). They both have backstories that hinge on a single event. But that's all the character development that we get. They live on opposite edges of the spectrum. Nicole is a high powered executive of an athleisure wear company who fell pregnant and is coping with motherhood and Morgan is a destitute social worker whose husband defrauded everyone they knew, including her parents, and then committed suicide. (I would have rather read about that whole thing going down. It's touched upon briefly and then mentioned constantly in the book to explain her trust issues but I digress.)

We get a couple of one-dimensional characters, Greg, Nicole's husband, who is no longer attracted to her because she's constantly fretting over their child. Tessa, the alway- there-for-you personal assistant who is just a little too nice. Jessica, the completely capable "dark" modelesque criminal defense attorney, who Morgan never listens to. Ben, Nicole's brother, who is apparently the perfect guy and a doctor. And a couple of side characters who are never fleshed out at all.

New mothers in fiction like this are invariably always in these positions where the people around them think they are CRAZY. Women, in general, being typecast as these paranoid people is extremely frustrating. If you want to read a great book with a woman dealing with postpartum depression, read Little Voices by Vanessa Lillie.

My main issue with this book lies in the plot. It's been done. So many times and better. It feels like a Lifetime Movie Network movie in its predictability. I saw the outcome of the book within the first 100 pages. This may not be the book's fault as I read primarily mysteries and thrillers but the twist wasn't really a twist at all.

The ending was in poor taste as well, but then again, epilogues are something that I usually dislike, but epilogues that are chapters instead of epilogues make me feel like there is one missing puzzle piece to knock me off my feet but instead...it's an epilogue. I feel like I might be spoiled by the Marvel after credit sequences at this point.

All in all, it's an okay book. I kept my attention and to its credit, it did get me out of my reading slump. This is something I could see reading at an airport to wait for a flight. But it's a book I would probably leave on the plane.

This was a great book! A new author to me but I really really enjoyed it! Unexpected twist at the end that I was expecting but ready for it. I loved the characters and definitely loved the story line. I recommend this to everyone and cant wait to read more! Thank You for the opportunity to read and review!

Woman On The Edge is an impressive debut novel by Samantha Bailey. This fast-paced thriller is very engaging, and suspenseful. This story weaves the emotional journey of caring for a newborn along with the protective instincts of motherhood.

It isn't that I mind crappy dialogue, it's that I mind crappy dialogue that is supposed to illustrate a deep and meaningful connection between characters. The story was fine, the people where all a little on the slender side, emotionally speaking.
