Okay this was so cute. My son actually has a new baby cousin and we read this one. It was silly but great to teach him about welcoming the new baby. Also. He is a total halloween and monster junkie so... this was perfect

This entertaining picture book had such a great premise, and it definitely kept the promise of that premise. My 2 and 5 year olds were fascinated by the idea that babies could protect them from monsters. Reading this book started a whole discussion on babies' actions and behaviors. My littles were thoroughly entertained and not a bit frightened by the subject.

This book was cute. It reminds me of Monsters Inc but I don't care. The illustrations are fun and go well with the story. I can see it being a favorite of the older child everywhere.

This was a cute book with colorful illustrations and cute characters. It left me wanting a little more as there wasn't a whole lot of substance. I think it would be great for kids with a short attention span since they won't get bogged down with a lot of text. Also great for those with monster worries.

Of course I had to read this to my granddaughter who loves monsters. She thought this one was funny. She has a baby brother and didn't think monsters would be afraid of babies. The things that bother her about her brother; the smells, the sounds, the spit-up and drool, are the same things that keep monsters away. She thought the monsters were cute and colourful. As we read this short, rhyming story, she laughed and wanted me to read it again and again. I guess if you know a child who is afraid of monsters in the closet or under the bed, this might give them a laugh and the confidence to not be scared. I think this would make a cute bedtime story as well.

This book was super cute and fun. My daughter and I both enjoyed the story. She even laughed quite a bit at some of the silly monsters. I loved the graphics and story line. My husband and I both agree that we could read this book multiple times without getting bored of the story which in parenting life is HUGE because you know they want to read the same books OVER and OVER and OVER again!

Monsters Are Afraid of Babies is a fun monster book with a twist! Instead of the monsters scaring kids, this book tells the story from the monsters' perspective. It is not the monsters that are scary. It's the babies! They are terrifying!

Monsters Are Afraid of Babies is hilarious. You and your children will laugh at loud of all the reasons why monsters are so afraid of babies. This story will give your young ones a truly new viewpoint about why things are spooky and what monsters are truly like.

In addition to a hysterical storyline, Monsters Are Afraid of Babies has adorable illustrations. They are bright, colorful, and your little ones will adore them.

If you have a little one that is fascinated with all things monsters, then Monsters Are Afraid of Babies is for you!

I laughed when I first came across Monsters are Afraid of Babies by Nicholas Tana, illustrated by Jessica Abbott and Elise Leutwyler. And then I thought about how perfect it would have been for my boyfriend's nephew when he was getting a little sister. This is such a clever way of introducing the idea of a younger sibling to kiddos who might not be too eager or happy about the thought of sharing mom and dad with a new baby.

One of my favorite pieces about this children's book was how it incorporated many of the not-so-great aspects of a baby in a way that portrayed them as good. You see, the monsters are terrified of babies because of the messes that they make, the screeching that they do, and those nasty, smelly, dirty diapers! And so while these pieces all can be very frustrating to deal with when you have a new sibling, they're still good because they scare away all the monsters.

This is definitely a funny story and one that offers children who might not be able to fully comprehend the benefits of a sibling just yet a vivid reason to appreciate the new baby. Obviously this isn't a true fix it for sibling rivalries and an only child feeling as though they are losing all of their parents' attention. But it is a brilliant and wonderful way of making the new baby seem a little less daunting for younger kids who perhaps aren't feeling super excited about their little sibling.

Author Nicholas Tana shows young readers what Monsters are truly afraid of; babies. Designed for readers up to age five, this colorful kids book goes after the greatest fear that so many young children have about monsters in closets or under their beds. A little boy and his baby sister discover all the reasons babies are just so scary to monsters.

Monsters Are Afraid of Babies is adorable, with colorful illustrations and a rhyme scheme to encourage regular reading.

This was such a cute book! It was silly with adorable illustrations. Plus children always love books with monsters! There are very few words so it is for a younger aged child but would be a lot of fun to read together.

Ha! I agree! Babies will keep monsters at bay! I liked this book, but I'm not sure who it's written for, the parent? a sibling? Do parents really want to tempt an 3-5 year old sibling to get a baby out of it's crib?? Kind of tempting fate... But I still love the book! Illustrations were a hoot! The monsters (and the kids) were adorable.

I love this book. It is a totally different take on monsters lurking around at bedtime. It gives frightened readers a sure solution that can calm and conquer their fears. How so you may ask? Why just having a baby ( any gender of a baby will do) near you because MONSTERS DON'T LIKE BABIES AND ARE AFRAID OF THEM! Did you know that?

This simple rhyming book explains why Monsters dislike babies so much and why they want to keep their distance from them. They abhor their stinky smells, their annoying cries and the disgusting things that they expel from their miniature bodies repeatedly. All these annoying things are repellents for sure and they make Monsters want to cry! Can you believe it? Who knew?

If older kids can tolerate being around their baby siblings who screech, poop and keep you up all night then they can have total confidence that there will be no monsters skulking around their room because Monsters HATE babies!

The illustrations are so well done and they animate the text. The whole premise of the book is fresh and new and really fun! Kids of all ages will love the wit and humour that the talented author has presented in this book. I highly, highly recommend it.

This would be a great bedtime read for small children. I don't want to say too much about the plot because it's not the longest book. It is a fun, fast read with great illustrations.

Monsters can be scary, but thankfully there is something that can scare them right back - babies. You wouldn't think a monster could be scared by a tiny baby, but they can - it's the way babies smell and creep and crawl. It's all pretty scary to them.

Thoughts:
While the story has a cute take on the monster theme, I found I wasn’t as engaged as I would have like to have been. The story doesn’t have many words in it, which I know is common in picture books. Sometimes when the words are minimal the illustrations help tell the other part of the story. Unfortunately, the illustrations didn’t engage me either. The monsters and baby were cute, but the book had several pages where the pictures of the monster or the scene in general were set against a white background. I’m someone who loves lots of color filling entire pages in the picture books I read, so it’s truly just a personal preference.

Rating: 3.5 stars

This lovely picture book has some gorgeous illustrations. I absolutely loved the artwork inside it – it was so colourful and so detailed. The monsters really popped off the page to me.

I love how creative this book is – how the “monsters” are afraid of how loud and smelly the main character’s baby sister is!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like this before, and it was such a joy to read.

I think any young child who is suddenly a big sibling, or a child who is afraid of monsters in the closet can enjoy this book.
