The Rancher's Redemption by Kate Pearce is a heartbreaking tale. It also is about second chances at love, forgiveness, and new beginnings. One man is reeling from the lost of his wife and kid. A woman is struggling as a single mom raising her son alone. Both characters work hard and are just as stubborn. The mother won't back down and will do anything to protect her son. Her son's relations are trying to pry them away from her after so many years. Now, she's fighting back like hell. That's where the hero pops in. Both of them knew each other while growing up and now, it seems fate has put them together. Friendship and loyalty has a way of creating undeniable things. Sparks fly, feelings grow, and tensions rise high in this epic contemporary romance.

I found myself crying along with the single mother. Her anger was easy to understand and feel. A mother should not have to worry about her only child being taken away from her by people who never cared in the first place.

Overall, this novel was raw and action packed. Kate Pearce kept my undivided attention and hooked me with the first chapter. The emotional journey was just as good as the romance. I recommend this story to all contemporary fiction fans.

A story of long held issues, drama, hurt, healing, redemption and love. Life has dealt Adam a harsher hand than he anticipated. Shaped by events he could not control, he is guarded in his actions and emotions. Lizzie has left behind the ashes of her friendship with Adam. An act of compassion meant to console instead drove a wedge between them for more than a decade. Circumstances will change all that as they forge a plan born of necessity. Though certain aspects of the books were not fully fleshed, the book was a good read.

Adam is not my favorite character. He holds a grudge for years, Lashes out, doesn’t believe the woman he loves...he is human acting but those aren’t traits I like.

Lizzie is a nice woman who gives Adam LOTS of chances.

Of course they get an HEA, but the resolution with Lizzie’s son Roman and his real father wasn’t satisfactory. I guess we can infer that there will be no more trouble.

Another enticing book by Kate Pearce - Adam's story has been a long time coming and what a story it is!
Lizzie Taylor was Adams friend from childhood along with Adam's departed wife. 14 years have passed and they both struggle to heal.
This story will give you the feels all the way around it's a definite must read.

Adam and Lizzie were friends growing up then Adam fell for Lizzie's best friend and married her. Short years later his wife died and Adam has mourned her ever since. Now 14 years later Lizzie is back in town with her son Roman trying to make a life for herself. Lizzie has a problem when family of the father of her son start harassing her. Suddenly wanting visitation rights and trying to prove she's unfit. Adam takes this chance to try and make amends. This was a complex story and parts of it were really good and parts that left me thinking what the heck. I've really enjoyed this series but this book left me scratching my head at times. I'm hoping the next book will redeem my admiration of this series. There's a bonus short story at the end of this book that was fun to read.

In this book, another Miller finds his love. Adam's life is changing and he doesn't like it one bit. All of a sudden he feels again and so many things from the past are revealed in completely another light. Lizzie his childhood best friend and single mother comes back again in his life and wakes up his body, and heart. Will he be strong enough to accept the changes or will he stay alone and miserable? Both Adam and Lizzie hat a lot going on and the things from the past are still haunting them. They help eachother heal, support eachother and they try to communicate better than in the past. I just wished there was an epilogue from their HEA but I think that we will see them when another Miller finds love.
I liked that the story had a bonus Novela and that we see that another person from Morgan ranch finds love. Lovely enjoyable short story, so happy for those two.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley

The Rancher’s Redemption is a well written romance. I enjoyed the plot and the characters. I recommend this book. My thanks to the publisher for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.

I often read the description of books before reading them so I have a general idea of what is going to happen. However, I found the description of this book was misleading making me expect things to happen in the book that didn’t and dampened my enjoyment of the book. Because of the description, I thought the fight for custody of Lizzie’s son was going to be a bigger thing than it was and Adam never offers to pose as her partner. Their relationship happened more naturally. I enjoyed the love story between Adam and Lizzie and how they had to deal with past hurts and Adam’s bitterness about his first wife dying in order for them to get together.

What Kate Pearce does so well is bring us into complexities of people.
Adam is a widower who is grumpy to say the least. He's pushed everyone away in his pain.
Its his best friend he hold tight to.

Lizzie was his wife's best friend and she is a single mother struggling and now, as to fight for custody of her son.
I liked Adam with Lizzie. You can really see him coming back into the family fold and letting himself feel and open up again. The man he is today is very different from the man he used to be. And he surprises himself in helping Lizzie out by being her fake.

Highly recommend.

It’s a second chance romance that involves quite a few emotions.
The chemistry between the characters is well developed and sweet at times.

Heartwarming, sexy, fun and engaging small town romance filled with intriguing charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and undeniable passion.... was a great read from beginning to end. Really enjoyed this journey!

Lots of angst and drama in this one! I found the beginning of this story a little difficult to get into as the introduction of characters did not come across smoothly. Things evened out as the story evolved. I had a difficult time liking Adam. To me, he was too stuck in the past. And for Lizzie to wait 14 years for Adam to notice her again was too unrealistic to me. Even though I liked Lizzie, I felt she was a bit of a doormat since, despite Adam’s jerk moments, she took him back without too much fanfare. Only and OK read for me.

THE RANCHER’S REDEMPTION is, at times, a very emotionally difficult story to read. I loved it, was deeply involved in Lizzie, Adam, and Roman’s lives but it hits deep in the emotions. There is a lot going on that will bring more pain but will eventually lead to healing – but that’s going to take a bit to work through.

We met Adam in THE SECOND CHANCE RANCHER, and even then could feel his constant emotional pain. Now, we get a better understanding of what he’s gone through both in losing his beloved wife to cancer and in why he alienated a woman he and his wife had considered a best friend. Lizzie has gone on with life, having an unfortunate romance with a loser which left her with a young son she would die for. Roman’s father and his father’s family are a real nasty piece of work collectively and one in particular. Suddenly this family who wanted nothing to do with a young boy wants visitation rights and is tossing out accusations that hold no truth but will bring a boatload of trouble to Lizzie’s door. Adam has a solution, but it will come with pain, confusion, and an outcome that he may not be ready to face.

Without going into details that would spoil this story for readers making up their minds about THE RANCHER’S REDEMPTION, I can safely say that this story is going to rip your heart out. There are bits of information that Adam didn’t have from a trauma early in his life, a situation that has shaped the man he’s become in many ways. Now, Adam must deal with not only learning the truth but seeing his former best friend in trouble deep and wanting to help. His emotions are about to come alive again, those feelings of happiness, attraction, and maybe even love if he allows it. Lizzie has always had a crush on Adam but her best friend always had his heart so she moved on. Or so she thought until they were forced into a closer relationship. Her love for Adam is still alive, but can she help him go beyond the death of a woman they both loved, a woman who would never have wanted him to grieve so for her that he stopped living. Watching Adam slowly heal was an emotional journey.

I was caught up in Lizzie and Adam’s romance. There is angst, anger issues, frustrations but there is also rediscovered joy, laughter, and a love worth fighting for, worth taking the risk to let it develop. I enjoyed myself once again in this world and would not hesitate to recommend this story to any reader who loves a good, emotional romance with characters who are believable, relatable and that you will care about the outcome of their romance.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

The Rancher’s Redemption by Kate Pearce is the second book in the Millers of Morgan Valley series. Adam is a tough nut to crack due to past problems with relationships and he is widowed by his short marriage. It has been over a decade and he still having problems. Lizzie is raising her young son by a short relationship. Adam helps her one day and is surprised that he is attracted to her. The story progresses and Lizzie pulls Adam out of his miserable existence, while Adam helps her with her own issues. This story has a bit more conflict than I like but overall it was a good story. It moved at a good pace and I was glad that these two worked through their issues and had their happily ever after.

This was the first book I read by Pearce. I liked the description and thought I would try it. The book was incredibly slow for me during the first half, but the timing in the second half was much better. I liked the characters, and I thought the situations they dealt with were realistic. Even though I liked them, I didn't connect to these characters at all. I kept reading thinking it would happen, but it didn't. I eventually determined the disconnect for me was because there are several stories going on at one time. The book is full of angst and drama, and if you like that, you may enjoy this book. Overall, I'm glad I finished reading it.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion. This was an okay book for me and it did have some touching and heart wrenching scenes but it was not my overall favorite book.
I will however read more by this author.

I always enjoy books by Kate Pearce, and this is no exception. The characters are complex, and Ms Pearce weaves multiple storylines into the book that appear separate, but end up overlapping in the end. Motivations are slowly revealed, as are evolving emotions, developing into a complex book that provides good reading on many levels. A nice story. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my freely given, honest review.

A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. This is about Lizzie and her struggles of being a single parent and how she had to go about doing it. Then steps in Adam who struggles with moving on after the death of his wife. A great series to pick up and are standalone reads.

The Rancher's Redemption is the second book in Kate Pearce's Millers of Morgan Valley series, but it's the first novel in the series that I've read, and it worked just fine for me as a standalone. I enjoyed Ms. Pearce's earlier Morgan Ranch series, but as a first read in this series, I think this one is even better, and it gets 4.5 stars from this reader.

The Miller family, comprised of five sons and one daughter, were devastated when their father divorced their mother, especially the eldest son, Adam, who was 12 years old at the time, and who is the leading character in this novel. As is usually the case, the younger siblings don't remember their mother as well as Adam does. He's always sided with his father, despite his father's self-absorption and inability to ever admit to being wrong about anything, even before he kicked their mother, Leanne, out of his life and his house. She left without a backward glance and her children never heard from her again. But that's not the only issue in this complex family, nor is it the only trauma in Adam's life. If you like angst with your romance novels, there's more than enough of it in this novel.

During high school, Adam's was best friends with Lizzie, who secretly crushed on him, but when he set eyes Lizzie's other best friend, Louisa, it was love at first sight for both of them, and the two got married right out of high school, and hoped to live happily ever after. Sadly, that didn't happen. Louisa was diagnosed with cancer, refused experimental treatments, and died 3 years later--leaving Adam crushed, defeated, and unable to come to terms with those emotions, instead closing himself off from family and friends. Shortly after Louisa's funeral, Lizzie went to visit her friend's grave, and found Adam there. In his grief and despair at losing the love of his life, he was holding a gun, and planning to kill himself and join his Louisa in death. Instead, Lizzie got him to drop the gun, held him as he sobbed out his grief, and later that day, she consoled him with her body, having sex with him. It's something Adam can't forget and it's also something he can't forgive himself or Lizzie for, and for the next 14 years, he wrote Lizzie out of his life, hasn't spoken to her since, and has actively avoided her, but that's about to change, because one day, Lizzie's 4-year-old son, Roman, gets bitten by a bee while in day care, and collapses, and when Adam sees Lizzie struggling to carry her son to the doctor's office, he offers her a lift, and the 14-year silence between them is finally broken, and thus begins the rekindling of their friendship, which is filled with the same angst, wrong impressions, guilt, and recriminations that ended their friendship 14 years earlier.

Lizzie eventually put aside her feelings for Adam and moved on with her life. Four years earlier, Lizzie had a one-night stand with Ray, who is now a minor celebrity, and her birth control failed. When Lizzie told Ray she was pregnant with his child, he headed for the hills, and ever since Roman was born, she's worked two jobs to keep a roof over their heads. Ray left town, never bothered to meet his son, and she's never received one penny of child support from him. Ray's family believed what he'd told them, that Lizzie was a gold digger and tried to trap him by getting pregnant--all lies of course, but Ray's family has ignored Lizzie and Roman too, never even met the charming little boy, and Ray has steered clear of Lizzie ever since, but that too is about to change. Especially when Ray's demented great-great-aunt starts spying on Lizzie, photographing her and her son while he's at day care, and she has decided that Lizzie is a terrible mother, hires a private investigator, and sets Child Protective Services after her.

This is a novel with great depth, it's filled with well-drawn, fully-fleshed out characters whose interactions are complex, heartbreaking, and most of all, it's a story about forgiveness--for past and present wrongs, past impressions, past misconceptions, past behavior and living in the past while forgetting there's a future. It's filled with regrets, grief, loss, and coming to terms with all of them, and not just the main characters, but the entire cast of characters, and finally, as the title states, redemption. It was one excellent, deeply moving and well-written novel. My only issue was the abrupt ending. At 75% of the contents, this novel comes to a somewhat unresolved end. Instead there's a short novel teaser about an upcoming book by this author, and I'd have much preferred that the author ended The Rancher's Redemption with an epilogue, which would have made this a 5-star read. It's still an excellent read and Ms. Pearce is an excellent writer.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

I was a little conflicted on this one. I love the Miller’s of Morgan Valley series but I didn’t feel as invested in this one as I normally do.
I found Adam to be unreachable and Lizzie to be a bit of a doormat.
There was definitely some real emotion and some twists and turns. So, it kept me interested. I just had a little trouble getting thru it. I have absolutely loved everything else of Kate Pearce’s that I’ve read so far and will continue to read her books.
I gave this one 4 stars.
