This was a great romance novel with some suspense and mystery thrown in. I liked the characters and enjoyed the storyline. I thought it was well written and would like to read more of the series.
Many thanks to Kensington Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Lone Star Suspense #3, Only connected through characters each book in this series is a stand alone. Rhett Hall came to Texas to check on his sister and decided to stay a while hoping to find some inspiration for his next book. Unfortunately the tattoo artist he had been seeing breaks it off with him, in a bad mood with a need to just drive to see more of Texas so he rents a car and does just that. But somewhere outside Austin a ways driving way to fast he hits a deer and wrecks his rental and ends up in the middle of a mystery surrounding a ranch and it's beautiful owner.

Sierra MacKenzie has enough issues with her ranch she doesn't need some city slicker coming in and making her feel all gooey inside like Rhett does. She shouldn't be trusting him as easily as she does but something about him is trustworthy and he's proven he can be. Someone has been cutting her fencing, poisoning her cattle, and now they burned down her horse barn. She knows the company who wants to build a huge development on her land so they can have highway access is behind it all she just can't prove it. But after the horse barn she calls in her hot shot attorney brother and between the three of them they can figure out what's going on and who, local, is behind all the incidents and hopefully tie it all to the big developer. Meanwhile the chemistry between Sierra and Rhett runs hot, and they both give into to temptation.

Overall, it was a fantastic read. It was an exciting non stop page turning story that had me hooked from the beginning. I loved the characters and the situation they found themselves in and how they got out of it. I kind of hope Dylan MacKenzie gets a book now.

I had read the previous book, Texas trouble I just realized that I didn't the first one-will get to it, I read the second one because Ethan was involved in her previous series (Texas Heat) and I did enjoy it, I mean you are not going to get realistic scenarios, your not this is no Criminal Minds, however you will have some entertainment enough that you will finish and I don't about you but we are talking about some Cowboys, Texas Cowboys! ladies that alone has me reading..Yee haw!

It took me a while to get into this story. For me it started slow, Rhett Hall is a best-selling author and he hit a deer outside the ranch owned by Sierra Mackenzie. Sierra really does not trust Rhett though she does find him attractive. Rhett is taken with Sierra and here I thought the story would go in one direction but instead goes in the direction of her ranch having problems with people wanting her to sell and have stepped up ways of force to get her off her land. They want her land for a new development which includes investors from local businessmen. She must work through her issues of trusting Rhett and that he is not part of the problem. She also finds out that he is a best-selling author. He also has decided to stay with her and help find who is behind all of the problems happening to her ranch. All that happens there is time for a love story, I just had my own issues with some of the ends. Overall a good book.

The third book in Lone Star, Texas Reckless is a well delivered romantic suspense. Sierra and Rhett are engaging characters and the story kept me engaged throughout. I look forward to seeing what comes next from this author and will be recommending this book and series to readers.

Texas Reckless by Gerry Bartlett
Lone Star Suspense #3

Author Rhett Hall has a bad day that becomes a whole lot better when he meets Sierra MacKenzie. Her life also improves when the two of them meet. Rhett iis researching his next book and staying on Sierra’s ranch is where he lands to suss things out. Little does he know that not only will he pick up small town Texas characters, dialogue and ideas but also fall into helping solve a mystery that might also threaten his and Sierra’s lives.

What I liked:
* Rhett – nice guy in more ways than one
* Sierra – a woman with a dream to fulfill – rich but not clueless
* Finding out who was behind the troubles being caused for Sierra’s
* Sierra’s brother Dylan (is there a story for him in the future?)

What I did not like:
* The meanness of some of the people in the town
* The problems Sierra had to face in the past and later on in this story
* That some of the bad guys got off easier than I would have liked them to.

Did I enjoy this book? It grew on me
Would I read more in this series? I think so.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Lyrical-Liaison for the ARC – This is my honest review.

3-4 Stars

Sierra runs a ranch and is having a lot of trouble. Someone is trying to run her off because she won’t sell so a senior citizen community can be built. Rhett is a best selling author and is driving through when he hits a deer right in front of Sierra’s home. After hearing about her troubles, Rhett decides to stay and help her figure out who’s wants her gone. But when the “accidents” are becoming more dangerous, will they figure out who it is before it’s to late?
Good story with lots of mystery and suspense. Some of the dialogue wasn’t believable, mostly if there was arguing. It is a nail biter.
