I was so excited to read Meet Me At Midnight because of the childhood enemies. It's a great trope honestly, and I love reading it! Meet Me At Midnight is a perfect summer read full of hijinks and love disguised as dislike.
We follow Asher and Sidney whose mothers were college roommates, so their families have been vacationed together every summer. And every summer, they carry out increasingly bigger and also weirdly specific pranks on each other. I really loved this first half of the book where Asher and Sidney were pranking each other but obviously hiding feelings for each other.
It's the summer before college, which means it's time for big changes. Asher is also struggling to tell his dad that he doesn't want to go into finance, especially because he doesn't actually know what he wants to do. Sidney is dealing with the changes that come with graduating high school and entering college.
I can't really say more about the plot because of spoilers, but I really liked the writing. The pacing was great. This is a page-turner, for sure!
Yeah, so the second half of the book fell a little flatter to me because I was really here for the hate masking the thinly concealed attraction; once that ended, I wasn't as into it. However, this book was still super cute and a great summer read. I definitely recommend Meet Me at Midnight if you're a fan of Morgan Matson or Kasie West!

A cute and adorable contemporary YA romance with one of my favorite tropes in the genre: enemies-to-love.
Sidney and Asher could have been close friends growing up summering together with their parents on the same lake, but instead an all out prank-war keeps them at each others throats until one summer things go a little too far and finds them kicked out of their summer homes and instead reluctant housemates in a new one. Forced into the same space, they call a truce and form an alliance that changes everything.
I liked that the progression in their relationship felt natural and didn't feel rushed was rushed. Asher was absolutely charming, and Sidney's anxieties around their relationship felt true to who she was even when I wanted to tell her to snap out of it. Throughout the story I was rooting for them to be happy. I especially appreciate that the ending wasn't rushed and everything wrapped up in a neat bow with one apology and a smile (although I wouldn't have said no to a longer epilogue).
Side note, I'm an absolute sucker for books with female athletes and can never turn them down.

This book was super cute and fun! Sidney and Asher spend their summers together because their parents are friends. They used to get along well, until they started pranking each other. The pranks have escalated and now they must stay in the same house together. This book has a love/hate storyline, an enemy to lovers trope. This book was hilarious with all the pranks they play on each other. Prepare to be swooned by Asher!
I couldn't put this book down! It's the perfect YA romance!
Thanks to NetGalley and Tor Teen for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I recieved this book from Net Galley for a honest review.
This was a cute enemy to dating book. The prank war between the characters was funny. I loved the the countdown after the summer happened. I would recommend this book for people who have read Kasie West.

I so badly wanted to love this! Sidney and Asher have spent every summer together since they were 12/13 years old, their parents are best friends. After that first summer though, they have been in a battle of wits. Each one trying to outdo the other with pranks. Sounds cute and fun, right? Well, the first half was but the 2nd half lost its luster for me. By that time, it became strictly a love story, which would have been fine but I wanted more pranks and intense moments between them. The second half dragged & I was kinda getting bored with Sidneyโs immaturity. Asher? I loved him but he wasnโt enough to save the story.
*Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my. This one was really cute!
Sidney and Asher are both swimmers that will go to the same college in the fall. and they spend their summer holidays together because their parents are friends. They also "enemies" and since they were fourteen they are in prank war. When prank war escalate and they face consequences .Sidney and Asher team up together to prank the woman who kicked them out of their houses and begin to open up and fall for each other.
I loved watching these two connect and become friends, the banter between Sidney and Asher was top notch and you could feel the chemistry oozing from them every time they were around each other.
Meet Me At Midnight is simply an adorable YA that's highly entertaining, well written, and charming.

Cute and very fun rom-com read. Gave me all the summer feels. Many thanks to the publisher via @netgalley for the eARC copy

3.5 stars
This book summed up in a word: adorable. I haven't willingly read a cute YA contemporary in some time, but this was enjoyable - predictable and a basic concept, but nonetheless enjoyable.
I loved the relationship between our two main characters and how sweet and innocent it was, the hint of coming-of-age elements, and the summery lake scene (one of my favourite tropes!).
If you enjoy stories with hate-to-love storylines, amongst a background of summer and lakes and all things nice, then this is for you. Overall, an adoring light read which I give a 3.5 stars to as it wasn't my usual read and a little cliche for me but still a decent novel.

This was a fun read and it was interesting to see how the characters grew. The slow release of information as to why the feud started between the two main characters was also well written. Due to more mature content, I wouldn't be able to have this at my middle school library; however, I would recommend it to high school students or mature 8th graders. It does follow two students who recently graduated from high school and through the start of their freshman year of college.

Sidney and Asher have been at war for five years. Every year their families vacation together at the Lake Houses in Michigan and every year Sidney and Asher invent new ways to prank the other in their never-ending war. But this year they go too far and are forced to face the real reasons behind their war and their real feelings for each other.
This was a quick, light read which I enjoyed. The characters were well-developed. However, I found Sidney's neuroses a bit annoying, her constant second-guessing and trust issues grated on my nerves a bit.

I could not put this book down! I absolutely loved it! If you love YA romance novels that are sweet, fun, and keep you wanting more, then this is the book for you.
โMeet Me at Midnightโ is written in a way that makes you feel like you are at the lake with Asher and Sidney. Pennington does an amazing job at keeping the book realistic. There was nothing in this book that made me think it was out of reach. I also loved how the book was not rushed in any way. The romance developed throughout the book, and never seemed forced. I enjoyed going through the emotions of Asher and Sidney discovering what they truly felt for one another, and how they pursued those feelings together.
I will definitely be picking this book back up over the summer while Iโm on my lake vacation and many more times in between!

Meet Me at Midnight by Jessica Pennington, published by Macmillan- Tor, is a ya college, enemies to lovers romance.
Sidney and Asher love to hate each other. Both are stars at their swim team at college and to top it off, they're forced to spend their summer vacations together, for years and years. They love to prank each other, and when one of the pranks has dire consequences, they have to think again.
Meet Me at Midnight is a well written, entertaining witty and fun read. I loved the writing and the story, 4,5 Stars.

Meet Me at Midnight by Jessica Pennington is a cute comtemporary teen romance novel. Sidney and Asher have to spend summer together since their parents are friends, so they have been playing pranks on each other for the last several years at their lake cabins. They have a common enemy when they are kicked out of their summer homes, leading them to call a truce and form an alliance. They bond over their love of swimming and pranks and grow closer, uncovering feelings that have been there the whole time. I found the book to be sweet and the characters are unique, but it is not as good and realistic as some other books.

Itโs been awhile since I read this book. I actually finished this in December and just never got around to reviewing it. I remember I really enjoyed this book and all of the pranks the two pulled on each other.
Iโm pretty sure this was another book that took place at a Michigan lake and I like that these books take me back to when I used to live in Michigan which is probably why I like them so much. I also like how young adult books are starting to focus on college and what happens next after high school.
This was a cute summer read I needed in the middle of reading Christmas books last month. This was a four star read. Thank you Netgalley and publishers for letting me read this. That had no impact on my thoughts, my thoughts are my own.

Confession: Lake Michigan in the summertime is my all-time favorite place in the world; so I was immediately hooked from page 1. I am a huge fan of a love/hate storyline and this had that and so much more. What I really love is that the story is told from both Sidney and Asherโs points of view. It spans the whole summer and then a few months of college. Personally, I would love to see this story play out and have a book following the pair through their college years. The epilogue was only a page and I wanted more!

Adorable story about a girl and her nemesis who find that live and hate are not so far apart after all.

The fun premise of this book - two teens engage in a prank war every summer against each other - was abandoned pretty early on for a bit of a romantic letdown for this reader.

**BOOK HUG & SIGH** So many warm fuzzies. Now Iโm craving a re-read of When Summer Ends and Love, Songs and Other Lies.
MEET ME AT MIDNIGHT checks the boxes of some of my favorite things:
- Witty, sarcastic dialogue & characters
- Hate to love
- Perception vs reality
- Beach, lake location
I just love Asher and Sidney. And this quote (one of my favorites) pretty much sums up their relationship.
โNever underestimate how much I want to pry your brain open, Sidney Walters.โ

I loved this book and think it's Jessica's best book yet. I finished this book over a month ago and I still don't have all the words to explain how much I enjoyed this book. The banter was witty and the relationship between Sidney and Asher was so fun and real. The pranks they played on each other were hilarious. I liked that the setting was similar, but not exactly the same as When Summer Ends (I really want to visit River Depot). I'll end this review with, my heart soared at times and plummeted at others, but I loved every second of it and it was such a great ride. I highly recommend reading this and Jessica's other two books.

I got an advanced copy from Edelweiss Plus in exchange for an honest review. This is only the second book I've read by the author, the first being "When Summer Ends", another book I was given an advanced copy of for a review.
Surprisingly, the story takes place in the same town as the prior story I mentioned above. This time, Sidney and Asher vacation there with their families every year, and for years have been pranking each other. But when their pranks go too far and get them kicked out of their vacation houses, they band together to prank the owner. But could they have an unseen spark?
There aren't any characters that are reoccurring from "When Summer Ends", but the Depot returns briefly.
I enjoyed reading this summer story and even liked some of the pranks (creative). I won't mention any pranks, because I don't want to give out any spoilers, but some of them were memorable, and even some of the other stuff they did together when they banded together was things that were interesting.
This book is good for fans of lake romances, summer romances, and even fans of childish pranks. Those who like teen summer romance books, give this a read.
