A great guide on how to develop your psychic abilities. I liked how Mat kept a calm tone while explaining everything to the littlest detail, not to mention the impressive amount of exercises he included. This book is perfect for anyone who wants to perceive what is not seen with just two eyes.

I found this book to be a basic and or beginning studies of a psychic witch. It is a complete understanding of the workings of a psychic witch. I enjoyed the illustrations as I pondered the material to see if I had a grasp on the information in each chapter. I thoroughly enjoyed the chapter on the souls of a witch.I look forward to reading more informational studies of the craft by this author. The material was very informational and easy to understand.

Lots of modern witchcraft titles out there (and more coming) at the moment. I found this one didn’t speak to me, perhaps because it comes from a male witch and I tend to respond and relate to strongly feminist texts.

I fully enjoyed this book it’s highly informative and well written. It covers in-depth information on meditation tapping into our natural 6th sense or physic senses. It has multiple exercises to work through that are actually quite calming and centering. It has a great focus on recognizing and harnessing natural energies all around us. It is also unbiased and very insightfully recognizes and honors varied religious beliefs and practices which I really like because you do not often see that. I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review and I highly recommend it.

So I chose to read this Book, this absolutely wonderful wonderful book because I am constantly reading the authors blog on Patheos. I've listened to interviews and such, and I cant say how big of a fan I am with enough words to describe exactly how I feel.

Psychic Witch is one of those books that will be around and invaluable to many many people, whether they are just starting out on their path or have been walking it for a while. In it Mat Auryn guides the reader through the psychic waters and even gives meaning (as if we needed more validation... which in some cases we do) to what it means to be a witch in these modern times.

I found a lot of information that i already knew but was made new with the way Mat spins it, and even more that I didn't and am glad about it. The excercises are as simple or as complex as you need them to be, and as I previously stated invaluable to the reader taking the journey through this book. It was wonderful to really feel like I was stretching my psychic muscles and deepening my practice at the same time.

I cant recommend this book enough. All I can say is this: Thank you Mat Auryn for writing this gem and thank you Llewellyn for publishing it. I cant wait to hold a physical copy in my hand and add it to my personal library.

I have been so, so excited about this book since I first heard about it, so when I got my hands on a review copy from Netgalley, I was over the moon.

And it did not disappoint.

I've been "trying" to develop my psychic senses for a while now, but I put "trying" in quotes because I've had no concrete idea of how to do that. This book is full--FULL--of exercises and hands-on (mind-on?) activities to develop a length and breadth of abilities. It's more like a workbook, with enough activities that it will take me months to master each of them. And I'm fully intending to so that--to go back and go slowly through each one. 93 exercises total, and none of them are filler. You'll get something out of each one, and many you need to do over and over to practice.

Honestly, part of me feels like I haven't been practicing witchcraft up until now because of how deep and specific the latter instructions for casting spells and connecting with energy becomes. This is a masterclass, with the psychic parts woven within the witchy parts, inextricable in how to become a psychic witch.

Note: I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

A fun, engaging, informative book! Growing up with a metaphysician/Rosicrucian mother, there isn't a lot in this book that was a new practice or exercise to me. However, this book is a great summary of all the most important foundational exercises that I still practice to this day (and a good reminder of some that I have slacked off on!) presented in the most straightforward and easiest ways that I have ever seen it presented in.

"Psychic Witch" is a great introduction and foundation to energy work for any aspiring psychic OR practicing witch and a great reminder/compendium for anyone who feels like they already have their practice down. What is especially great about this book is that, while most books on energetic practice do not consider the Pagan cosmology or practice at all (though is easily relatable), this one really does, so reading a book that keeps our varied religious and spiritual practices in context was really refreshing.

Great book for those of us possessing an uncommon amount of intuition. Auryn helps the reader discover how to deepen those abilities while protecting oneself from unwanted energy from others. PSYCHIC WITCH also gives great information about how meditation works to enhance and control psychic abilities. Just excellent.

I've been following Mat Auryn on Instagram for a while now, and despite the fact I've not had overly good experiences with psychic exercises in the past, I found myself rather excited for the release of Psychic Witch.

While I tend to devour anything written about witchcraft, I wasn't sure if the 'psychic' part would really click with me, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually really enjoyed working my way through the exercises in this book, and even more surprised to feel they were actually working for me.

Auryn's writing style is very easy to read and understand, and I loved that this is a very practical book. You do need to take the time to work through the exercises to get the most out of this book, however, but if you're serious about working on strengthening your psychic abilities, I strongly recommend doing so.

A big thank you to Mat Auryn, Llewellyn and NetGalley for giving me the chance to read an advanced copy of this book. I will definitely be picking up a physical copy upon release..

Thank you to NetGalley, Llewelly Worldwide Ltd and Llewellyn Publications for this free ARC of Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn. The review to follow is based on my own honest opinion.

This book is as complex as it is simple, it’s certainly no novel – it’s an educational, factual tome. You’ll find that reading this book can’t be done in large chunks as there are many relevant exercises that you might want to explore. An extensive bibliography is provided, which is brilliant for further reading.

Psychic Witch is the kind of book that would be suitable for those new to Witchcraft or those who have flown around on a broom a few times! Illustrations are included which assist with both understanding the text and the exercises.

One thing that does make this book stand out is that it’s about Witchcraft and psychic phenomena. Most books are about one or the other, rarely both subjects between the covers!

This book was fun and the kind of book I would have loved when I first started wondering about wiccan, paranormal, esp type things. The science and graphs are fun to help follow along with the theories.

Some good information and a number of exercises for reader to help with their participation side. Nicely sourced information.

My curiosity got the best of me when I picked up this book to review. I have always bordered on physical and metaphysical depending the station of my life is in at that moment. I recently came across a book called Initiated: Memoir of a Witch which piqued my interest in the current book Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn. These days yoga and medication has been gaining great traction given the current chaos we find ourselves in with regards to personal and professional life. The front end of this book is highly dedicated to meditation techniques and may I add in depth. The qualities needed to enhance your psychic powers can surely be awakened through meditation where one can get good insight of one's self and the surroundings couldn't agree with the author more. At the least you can get some peace regardless if you want to achieve psychic abilities or not. The book gets a little weighty as you continue with little more metaphysical contents than to my comfort.

I didn't particularly like the tone of the author, but I did find a lot of information that was valuable for beginners. And for that reason alone, we will purchase this book for our library. We have readers interested in both psychics and witches, and this will be a good fit for both. Thank you, Llewellyn.

One of the best books that I have read on this subject.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book but it sure wasn't this. I really liked how the author gave me a chance to appreciate the journey that I am on. As I read this, I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace knowing that I am content with the direction that my spirituality is taking me, especially as it has been decades in the making.

I can tell that the author is an expert in this field and I appreciate all of the expertise that he brings to this book. I really appreciated that it honed in how to use the exercises into channeling into one's second sight. The author wrote this in a way that it resonated with every part of my soul. It was not boring or dry. It didn't seem to be a lecture but instead, it was communion for me to savor and hold in my mind for when I needed to have those moments of introspection.

This quote, “When our three souls are aligned a phenomenon occurs called the Witch Fire. The Witch Fire is the energetic elixir of all three of the souls functioning as one unified energy. When we align our three souls, we step into our divinity and our full potential. The Witch Fire is often experienced as an ecstatic state of gnosis, power, and divine love felt as Agape” (location 1973) resonated with me like no other and that is the beauty of this book. I feel like each time I read it and study it that I will glean something new from it.

I highly recommend this book for beginners and experts alike. I already plan to read and practice this book for years to come as well as look further into the list of books and resources that were included in the bibliography.

This was-- interesting!

Being new to, but fascinated by, the topics of metaphysics, this book seemed so interesting and educational to start but instead just fell a little flat. There is a lot of information in this book and maybe it just went over my head. The tone of the explanations sometimes felt a little unnecessarily wordy or highbrow, which frustrated me, cause I am really interested in understanding!

I did like some things about this book though and I'd be remiss not to mention them. Its well-written, the author clearly knows what he's talking about, and maybe someone who has a higher level of familiarity with the subjects would have more success.

Regardless, I enjoyed reading this and thank you to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

“[T]he words psychic and witch are two very succinct words that evoke very strong thoughts and emotions. To me, these words conjure up a level of adeptness and power within their respective realms.” - Mat Auryn, Psychic Witch

Mat Auryn’s Psychic Witch seeks to bridge the gap between psychic abilities and modern witchcraft techniques.

It’s easy to find books on psychic abilities, including many on how to hone your own second sight. In a similar vein, you can also find plenty of books on witchcraft of all sorts.

Precious few titles delve into the overlap between these two subjects, however. Many witchcraft books only address the issue of second sight in passing, and most psychic guidebooks tend to avoid any association with witchcraft.

I consider Psychic Witch an extremely relevant work for today’s occult community. Psychic development deserves a stronger place among the witches’ toolkit. Hopefully this book will also help those involved in psychism and mediumship to learn more about witchcraft itself.

Auryn was initiated into the Black Rose Tradition of witchcraft, and also received the title of priest in the Sacred Fires Tradition. He writes a lively column for Patheos Pagan entitled “For Puck’s Sake”. I enjoy reading his column, and was excited to receive a review copy of Psychic Witch, his debut title.

Auryn writes with a refreshingly fluid style. Psychic Witch is neither incomprehensibly dense nor watered-down. Beginner witches will find it very readable; intermediate and advanced practitioners will find uncommon nuance here.

Ideally, the reader of Psychic Witch should have moderate familiarity with occult terminology and the logic of the supernatural. An established practice is not necessary, though, and it’s written in an understandable fashion for those just beginning their journey.

It pairs well with a lot of the works of Devin Hunter (who wrote the introduction), and I think it would be great read alongside (for example), The Witch’s Book of Mysteries. This isn’t necessary, though - while it complements the information found in such books, it does stand on its own very well.

Novel ideas comprise a quite significant part of what Auryn has to say in this work. I particularly found his theories about sleep paralysis and how it relates to the astral double fascinating and unlike anything I’d ever heard.

There are other occasions in Psychic Witch where he provides an unusual perspective like this, and I see them as interesting and useful contributions to gnosis overall.

As I’ve said, I consider this book appropriate for most beginners; however, it’s peppered with work that prepares one for more advanced techniques.

Many subtle passages have a sort of dual-meaning, and will have extra significance for those who’ve a more intermediate or advanced perspective. For example, Auryn writes,

“When our three souls are aligned a phenomenon occurs called the Witch Fire. The Witch Fire is the energetic elixir of all three of the souls functioning as one unified energy. When we align our three souls, we step into our divinity and our full potential. The Witch Fire is often experienced as an ecstatic state of gnosis, power, and divine love felt as Agape.” - Mat Auryn, Psychic Witch.

In some ways, that passage describes a technique suitable for a beginning witch. On another level, it contains what seem to be veiled instructions for a much more advanced operation. I quickly realized it was the same concept I’d met under different terminology, previously, but am only now beginning to fully grasp.

It’s far beyond the scope of this book review to explain what’s being taught in those passages. A parallel concept is the “black fire”, or certain degrees of “Kundalini awakening”, which may be sufficient hint.

If you truly take this book to heart, expect the meaning of terms like “Witch Fire” to grow alongside you and within you.

Indeed, the Witch Fire will take on a significance you could not have anticipated.

All things considered, I rate this book five out of five stars. I recommend this book to witches of all levels seeking to deepen their experience of second sight.

To be released on February 8th, 2020, Psychic Witch can be purchased on Amazon, or directly from the publisher. Much thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a galley copy!

Blessed be, and may our magic flourish!

As a great fan of Llewellyn Press, I was excited to be able to read an arc of Psychic Witch for review (thank you NetGalley). However, I have mixed feelings about Psychic Witch. Auryn clearly put a lot of work and consideration into this how-to guide and it shows. There are great exercises to get you started with the caveat it is not for those in a rush to move on to stronger magicks. The meditation and relaxation can be used for more than just psychic reasons. I appreciate the addition of the different types of extra-sensory perception rather than just focusing on clairvoyance. It covers many aspects about the soul and "self" as well as other types of energies. Psychic Witch does set itself a little apart from other books in that it tells you how to lower or even turn off your psychic abilities to protect yourself, not just focusing on grounding. The spell-work at the end seems to be a standard of how-to books in this field. I would say this is a great book for any level of magick believer in an attempt to improve their skills and abilities. However, it was a bit preachy and condescending at times and had way too many name-drops to be fully comfortable. While some of those names appear in the references of the book and are understandable, some felt like they were just thrown in as an unnecessary brag.

Good insights on how to awakened psychic senses and the tools to drive anyone in the right direction. I was impressed by thoroughly explained passages and the numerous exercises included that could be done conveniently at your home, outside or anywhere you must feel comfortable at. This book would be a great stepping stone for anyone looking to dabble into their psychic abilities or to simply learn more about this great phenomenon.
