Absolutely adorable! Maybe I'm biased because I'm Puerto Rican. =)
I loved the drawings and all the color. It made me homesick! And I LOVED how it showed people of all color as this is what Puerto Ricans are made up of! Great little book that I would have definitely bought for my kids back when they were small. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

This is my third book in this exciting series. I have to admit the more I read of these books in this format the more comfortable I feel and confident of their worth shaving with children.
Puerto Rico is something of a mystery for someone from the U.K. unlike those in North America who are more aware of its attractions due to its links with the USA.
My associations are from American movies most noticeably - West Side Story and the Sharks.
I found the book fascinating and very informative. Basically the books promote the culture, language and traditions. In addition they highlight particular customs or interesting places. There seemed to be a surplus of these in terms of natural wonders and places of beauty. Strong links with Spain before this long association with USA where influences like baseball were forged.
A little rhyming text in each page; while predominately an in depth colourful illustration is given of each subject. Did you know type of facts are shared and the young readers are asked to find special objects within the picture.
What I like most is the help with the foreign words used and the sense of a treasure hunt exploring new facts and learning new details about a country.
It lacks a follow up to learn more and a wider knowledge span. For example I immediately linked the Arecibo Observatory with the James Bond movie Goldeneye and had to go to a search engine to confirm this connection.
However, it serves a purpose for its target audience I just feel they could reference more and promote more research beyond this very basic text for enquiry minds to discover more.

Although this flawed book has some worthwhile aspects, the illustrations, digestible facts, and worthwhile subject matter, the cons outweigh the pros.

The inclusion of different locations and attractions around Puerto Rico is a great idea but the reader is never told what they are or where they are located. Each two page spread has a location marker on the upper left along with the name of a town or attraction but there is no explanation of the symbol or what the item might be. It is a missed an opportunity. They could have easily plotted those markers on the map of the island and included a key. It's almost as though the concept was was there at inception but never communicated to the person who laid the map out. There are a few issues with some but not all vocabulary including pronunciations.

Overall, a missed opportunity at what could have been a very nice early elementary geography series.

Wow! I actually adore this book! Makes me wanna go travelling. Great illustrations and use of language that my daughter understood and I could totally appreciate! My only complaint? I wish it had been a longer book! Excellently done.

This book is fantastic! With colorful, vivid illustrations, it provides a look at Puerto Rico through a child's eyes, highlighting culture, customs, landmarks and things to do. Each page has a treasure hunt and a "did you know?" fact for children to extend their learning. For children who are interested in geography and other cultures, this book is a must for their library.

Following the familiar formula of Tiny Travelers Mexico: Treasure Quest, indeed of all the Tiny Travelers titles, the Puerto Rico volume takes us on a highlights tour of the caribbean jewel. Unfortunately, it suffers from some of the same failings as the Mexico title.

First, the good. The illustrations in the Puerto Rico volume are markedly better. Note, the illustrators are the same and they employ the same type of renderings. What makes them better is that the pages are substantially less crowded and have a more unified focus. If a committee was employed to illustrate this book, the committee had a leader and that leader made decisions.

Now, the not so good. The book tries to tackle too much. Think of it as a travel guide that mentions something and goes into virtually no development. Yes, I know this is a children’s book and that this book is meant only as exposure. And, if that is the only thing you’re looking for, a very brief exposure, then you should buy it. The problem is, that it fails to bridge the Goldilocks principle and lands somewhere short. Will it provide a distraction? Yes. Can you re-gift it afterwards or donate it? Yes. And that’s why it gets a Buy, With Reservations.

My thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for providing a review copy of these books. The views expressed herein are my own.

Tiny Travelers Puerto Rico Treasure Quest is an adorable travel book to introduce little ones to many of the interesting locations and traditions of Puerto Rico. The illustrations are beautiful and make the country come live for the reader. The quests help to make sure children are engaged in the story.

I would recommend this book to children who travel to Puerto Rico with family or as part of an educational unit.

Thank you to Encantos Media Studios and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book takes us down to the island of Puerto Rico to introduce us to the culture through language, foods and activities. The illustrations are quite lively and happy. The text includes a lot of Spanish vocabulary. I love that it has little pronunciation guides next to these vocabulary words for those who do not read Spanish.

It attempts to tell a story with rhyme, that I felt got a little awkward at times. This part is great for your younger readers. For older readers, there are little boxes of additional "Did You Know?" information pieces with even more facts and trivia. And fun for all ages are the seek and find bits, where you are asked to find animals, foods, etc.

And I appreciate that it included both the more stereotypical cultural parts of Puerto Rico with some more realistic everyday illustrations to give a more well-rounded view of life there. It's a cute story to introduce another culture and could lead to further exploration.

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for honoring my request for a review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is another great book for my son. He loves seek and finds and I like that he's learning about a different culture.

Perfect for the younger set, this book is colorful and engaging. Each page has a 'seek and find' object, which gets them to look a little further at the illustrations. There is a combination of Spanish and (mostly) English, and much of la isla's culture is incorporated into the pages.

Fun and colorful educational book! A great book for early readers to learn about Puerto Rico. I wish the book was longer and there were more things to find in each picture and explanations about each "treasure" featured. But all in all a really neat book!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.

Tiny Travelers Puerto Rico Treasure Quest by Steven Wolfe Pereira and Susie Jaramillo is an adorable way to introduce a new country to a small child. Leaves you eager to travel and curious to learn more!!

Note: this review applies to each and every book in this series that I have read - tiny travelers - China, Mexico, Puerto Rico

My Thoughts
First things first: the art is bright, colorful, delightful, eye-catching and the rhyming text is fun to read out loud! You will enjoy reading the words in other languages with the provided phonetics as well as looking for the hidden items and for those that are not.

As you go through the pages, the text and the detailed illustrations work together to teach the young armchair traveler very many things. These include words from the language, an introduction to interesting places in the country, traditions and events, wildlife, people, food, and more. It is truly amazing how much you can learn within the few pages of these board books, while maintaining cultural authenticity and accuracy.

I love that it includes things that most people first think of when they hear the name of the country (like the Great Wall of China or San Juan or the mariachis) and then the other equally wonderful things that make up that nation (like Wuling Mountains or Xochimilco or the Arecibo Planetary Radar). Curious now, aren’t you?:)

The Layout
The first page has the map of the featured country along with a useful fact card containing capital, language, currency, and population statistics. The ‘this-book-belongs-to’ is replaced with a ‘boarding pass’ where the tiny traveler (armchair one, in this case) can write his or her name. I am sure this format makes it exciting for kids – travel through the pages, earn those stamps on your book (and you can get free stickers for each book to stick on relevant pages), and complete your travel.

Each two-page spread has a similar layout with similar symbols across pages for ease of use. Each one includes
-the name of the specific place depicted on the page,
-the what-you-need-to-seek in a ‘stamp’ that you can put the free appropriate sticker on when found,
-a ‘Did you know’ fact box about something on the page,
labels to highlight items depicted (could be food, animals, places, etc) that inform the reader, and of course
-the detailed art work with the rhyming text taking center-stage, or well, spread across the two pages.

The last couple of pages include a checklist to see if the reader found everything and ends with the world map highlighting the featured country.

Conclusion
It is tough to represent a country within the confines of a children’s board book and there will always be lots of things that might be missing but this series does a great job of presenting it perfectly for the intended audience in a fun, interesting, and enriching way!

So, yes, these books are a wonderful addition to any library. So, if you have a child who enjoys learning about new places, or the search-and-find activities, or even if not, these books are going to be well-worth it.

They left me curious to learn more about everything mentioned, eager to travel and explore, and yes, hungry!

This series is fabulous. It draws you in with beautiful illustrations that are incredibly detailed. The text is simple and short and engages the reader. Looking for a hidden treasure on each page adds an extra layer of excitement for the child.

This series is perfect for parents who want their children to dream of traveling to different lands or for parents wanting their children to learn about other cultures. We loved the Puerto Rico book as much as all the others we have read, we will definitely buy this series and I would recommend it for any child's collection or foe any classroom or library.

The publisher provided an ARC through Netgalley. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts

How stinking cute is this book! I love this idea of a series for young people to learn about different places. The book includes a fair amount of "hunting" for items on each page as well as looking for a coqui frog on each page. You learn all about the features of Puerto Rico in the main text as well as these "Did you know?" tabs on the bottom of every couple of pages. I love that many words are presented in Spanish with a phonetic English pronunciation also provided. I'm going to be checking out other books in this series!
